Excellent hôtel, l'accueil est chaleureux, la chambre romantique est jolie et spacieuse, l'espace bien être est très joli et agréable. Très bon séjour sans ombre au tableau.Comment of D. Françoise , France the 2015-08-19
"Great food, staff, and amenities!"
Our stay here was probably one of the best parts of our vacation. We were upgraded from their other hotel so we were especially happy with this. The breakfast is fantastic with lots of choices of meats, cheeses, breads, and fish. We did half board also which is a great value and was very good. We tried both the five course and the fondue which are very much locally sourced which we appreciated. We enjoyed having the pool very much and it was nice even though the theme is unusual. The rooms were spacious and one of our rooms even had a fantastic view of the Matterhorn. The transportation to and from the train station is also good since it would be quite a hike with luggage. It is still a nice walk into town though and well located near everything. In addition, we had a great time skiing and perfect weather so our stay was wonderful.
"Excellent accomodations with huge pool"
Recently visited Zermatt with my husband. He was there for business, so I got to explore on my own. The hotel we were originally booked with did not save our reservation properly. Luckily there was space at Romantik Hotel Julen, and we could not have been happier. The room was lovely with wonderful Swiss charm, and I really enjoyed my time at the pool. I would have loved to book one of the many spa treatments available but the mountain was calling my name!
"Excellent place with wonderful pool ne spa - May 2017"
Came here to avoid the winter crowds and had incredible variable weather with snow and intense sun. The hotel is located right by the Matterhorn museum and cemetery with wonderful history and definitely worth seeing for the amazing history of the Matterhorn. The hotel has excellent breakfast and dinners and a heating rack to dry your clothing. A large soaking tub is wonderful after a day's activities and the pool on the lower level and spa with two wet saunas and one dry heat sauna are wonderful. Great masseuse- Annette - for a variety of health treatments which are simply fabulous. Staff is helpful and able to assist with most requests. We had one minor glitch with the front desk in that we wanted to look at a Matterhorn view room but were never able to see one even though we asked three times and turnover was steady there due to people leaving on a daily basis. Cannot therefore say anything about that or the price difference. With the variable weather, snow, fog, etc., probably not a big loss and took helicopter ride to top of Matterhorn and area which you should definitely experience if the weather is right.!
"Traditional with some colourful quirky touches"
We only had one night in Zermatt after taking the Glacier Express so we indulged in a Matterhorn view room and enjoyed our complimentary welcome glasses of wine on the balcony taking in the view before dinner - just in time before big snow kicked in - gorgeous!! Really happy with our choice of birthday night hotel and the half board dinner was good quality - especially the white toblerone mousse and the duck starter. Sincere thanks for the gesture of complimentary glasses of bubbles for the birthday! Pity not to have been able to try the home grown lamb for dinner but the dried lamb on the breakfast buffet was a treat. The design of the bath/shower is really terrible and the pillows so flat they may as well not be there, but they were the only let downs in well decorated room. Also a bit peculiar that guests on the terrace can look down through the glass roof into the 'bathing suit optional' spa area. Otherwise v nice!!
"Excellent hotel, good value in Zermatt, and I would stay here again!"
We spent one week at the Hotel Julen for our Zermatt Ski vacation. The hotel was excellent. We arrived on the train from Zurich and used the “hotel phone” at the Zermatt train station to call the hotel (free). The hotel sent a shuttle to pick us up. We also received complimentary transfers back to the train station on our departure. After the five-minute ride to the hotel, check-in was easy. Location: excellent. Right in the center of town with easy walks to restaurants, etc. The room: we had a 3rd floor triple room, which was spacious and very Swiss. A functional elevator and stairs were available to get to/from the lobby and ski locker area. The Wi-Fi was excellent. The shower was excellent with plenty of hot water. One FYI: the toilet and the shower/sink room were separate and on opposite sides of the hotel room, which was different but no issues. Meals: we had breakfasts only and it offered everything one would expect. We chose not to do the dinner option so that we could enjoy dining around Zermatt……. for us, that was a good choice. Zermatt has several restaurants and we did not want to be tied down to one. Ski locker: the lockers are a good size and can fit several pairs of skis, boards, and boots. Lift access: the bus stop to the lifts is less than a five-minute walk. The buses run frequently, although I could imagine them getting very tight during high season. The buses takes just a few minutes to get to the gondola. Spa: very nice, large, and warm pool. The workout facility is much more than you would expect in Zermatt. The only recommendation worth mentioning is that [we found] the hotel very warm. I mean we were sweating constantly. It was so warm everywhere in the hotel that we slept with the windows open. Also, we had only minimal clothing on in the lobby. My wife, our friend, and I talked everyday about how glad we were that we did not take the dinner option because we would melt with the heat dinner. My advice to the hotel leadership is to try and regulate the temperature. All said, the hotel is fantastic and highly recommended!
