A really great modern hotel in a perfect central location!Comment of A. Gerard , United Kingdom the 2014-11-17
"Solid quality hotel"
Stayed here for a few nights. The majority of the staff was very friendly and attentive. The check-in and check-out went very fast. The room was queen but a bit outdated, although it didn't really bother me. We really enjoyed the bar/restaurant combination Pillars. There was a good atmosphere and the food was good (especially the ''in a hurry'' section of the menu was nice). Interaction with the bar staff was great, conversations didn't feel forced so we enjoyed hanging out there. One night wanted to go out for drinks and asked Marina if she knew any nice bars close by. She took the time to understand what kind of bar we were looking for and showed us on a map where to go (we ended up having a real good time). The buffet breakfast was sadly very overpriced. The overall experience was great, there was a good vibe in the hotel and we would recommend it to anyone.
"Excellent staff and lovely stay."
The hotel is close from the central station and the city center. At the front desk, Olaf welcomed us, who was very friendly and kind. We had a room at the 11th floor and it was impressive, nice views, natural light and very comfortable bed. The room is renovated and provides anything you may need. We had a three course menu dinner at the restaurant downstairs. The food was excellent (especially the steak) and the wine served with each course was delicious. Ricardo and Ahmed were our waiters, they were attentive at any detail, and very knowledgeable about everything they were serving. Special thanks to Ricardo, who was very considerate and always taking care of us. Finally, we also had breakfast at the buffet, it has everything you can expect and you can also order some warm things. Ahmed was very polite and prepared for us a special table next to the window, from where you can enjoy the view. I would definitely recommend this hotel, not only because of its location and delightful rooms but specially because of its kind and helpful staff.
"Diner at the Pillars bar"
The 3 course Chef menu was very good, the service excellent and our waiter Ahmed very kind and attentive. The only point of constructive criticism would be that my wife's baileys and my whiskey were a bit skimpy in amount.
"Great City Centre Hotel"
The location is perfect: only a minute's walk to Rotterdam's central station. The best aspect of the hotel is the amazing breakfast which is served until 1.30pm on weekends and the extremely friendly staff, the young blonde man at reception (I can't recall his name) was especially nice.
"Excellent customer service"
I recently stayed at the Rotterdam Marriott for several weeks with a group of colleagues for business. I was greeted by Quinsley upon our arrival and the check in was going smoothly until I had to sign for the room wherein I was listed as Mr. instead of Ms. My haircut often throws people off, and I am frequently mistaken for a man. When I pointed out this error, Quinsley was gracious and apologetic, but he also handled our interaction without the tenseness that sometimes accompanies this situation. Later that evening, a few of my colleagues and I had a few drinks in the Pillars lounge where Jochem and Ahmed took care of us. They were both super friendly and answered our questions about places to go, eating, shopping, and the like. Ahmed also provided us with a map with which he marked locations of what we requested. The hotel is in a excellent location right across the street from Centraal Station, and practically everything we wanted to do was only a few minutes walk from our rooms. A few more days into our stay, I visited the lounge early in the day. Whitney noticed that I had already been there several days and offered a Pillars card to me which gave a 10% discount. I was really thankful for that because the price for a half liter Heineken was 7.50€, and after living in Germany I find that quite high and usually only encounter beer that expensive while traveling in airports. My colleagues and I frequented the lounge throughout the rest of our stay as a meeting point and a place to relax. The evening staff of Iwan, Jochem, Ahmed, Mandy, Dennis, Marina, and Teddie took excellent care of us over the course of our several week stay. They communicated with us in a way that was open and seemed genuinely friendly, not forced or fake like I have sometimes experienced at other hotels. Loes also checked in with our group almost daily and sent us a few complimentary snacks which I found both a surprise and a pleasure. I never had a single interaction with any staff member that wasn’t polite, pleasant, and helpful. Excellent customer service. My only complaint about our entire trip was the prices of food, drinks, and laundry services. When we arrived in Rotterdam, our group had already been traveling for four days, and I was in need of some clean clothes. I opted to use the hotel laundry services due to the fact that I needed it quickly and it was convenient. I paid 81€ for a load of clothes. Ahmed was kind enough to show me the nearest service on the map. It was 15 Minute walk, and only 8€. As I mentioned above, the beer was overpriced even with the discount card, and the breakfast was overpriced as well. I’ve stayed in quite a few hotels that had a 20-25€ breakfast buffet that was comparable, tasty, and that included champagne or Prosecco. I find this appealing especially on the weekends when one can eat later in the morning, however it was not the case here, and no mater how hungry I am, I can’t bring myself to eat 28€ worth of food in the morning. Overall stay 9/10 with the only strike being the high prices. I would definitely stay there again.
