"Secluded pool villas right off Monkey Forest Road"
This is our second time staying at Royal Kamuela Ubud. We stayed here Jan 2016. The hotel itself is perfectly located right off Monkey Forest Road (literally) and only a 3 minute walk from the monkey forest itself or 3 Monkeys Cafe. This time we were initially put in room 3, near the lobby as we were told there was construction going on near the rooms we stayed in last time (10 and 11). The room itself was identical to 10 and 11, but the pool area had very little sitting area in the shade and was only enterable on one side (and a wall along the long side). We requested to be switched to 11 regardless of the construction. It took about an hour to switch rooms but they were very friendly and helped us move our luggage. Personally I like villa 10 and 11 because the pool has land and a lounging bungalow on one side. Yes there was construction noise, but you could not hear it inside the room (but you could sitting by the pool). I think they plan to finish the expansion in Aug 2018. The rooms themselves are large and well furnished. There is a walk in shower, outdoor shower, soaker tub, and of course large pool. The bedroom is comfortable, with a really comfortable bed, and lots of storage. There is some wear and tear from when we came in 2016, but it seems well kept up. Linens and towels were still good quality. Pool 11 is quite cold though, too cold to hang out in. Last time when we stayed in Pool 10 it was warm enough to be in. Breakfast and (if you want) afternoon tea are served in the room - enough breakfast for four even though it is meant for two. They even were able to accommodate my request for a soy latte. The hotel offers free shuttle service in the local Ubud area, and an airport shuttle for about $40USD a way. I do not believe the hotel allows children at this time, which for us was a draw. Granted with private pools it is less of an issue. Overall pleased with the hotel and would consider staying there again as it is a small hotel (11 rooms at the present time) with friendly desk staff and a great location. Most of all I like the proximity to monkey forest road and being able to walk back to the room after we have made purchases.
"Excellent villas and staff .My most favourite palce in Bali"
The current 12 villas are excellent in every respect, breakfast afternoon tea and dinner were all excellent as well. the spa is also excellent.. Ubud main st is out the door with grat food shopping and massages. They are building a new hotel with pool access rooms that will be ready late March. we had a guided tour of the constuction and the hotel rooms are large and luxurious as are the facilities. This will be an amazing place to stay when completed.
"Wow and wow"
This place is astounding. Everything amazing. Seriously can't fault anything. Tip..order an ice bucket for your beverages at night. Also if you want an early morning brekky have it served inside as the one morning we had brekky at 6am naughty monkeys made a mess of every thing... But hey you are staying close to the monkey forrest and was an experience but lost most of the breakfast lol. Staff, convenience.....if we stayed in Ubud again would definitely return
We stayed for three nights and thoroughly enjoyed every minute of it. The decor including the gardens were stunning and it was great to have our own pool that we could swim laps. The villas were very private, and hard to fault. Good options for shopping and food close by
"Fantastic place to stay"
can not fault this place. service was perfect. price was on point. location was incredible. highly recommended villa to stay in, close to the monkey forest - we have monkeys in our villa in the morning :) was fantastic
