Set in Hong Kong’s Mong Kok shopping area, this cosmopolitan hotel is a 2-minute walk from Mong Kok East train station and 8 km from the Happy Valley Racecourse.

"Great place to stay"
I'm very satisfied with my stay at Royal Plaza Hotel, the room conditions, hotel amenities and even the views from the room are really great. The only negative point I feel is that the Mong Kok East station which is located right below the hotel is a bit off from the main MTR lines, but it is within walking distance from Prince Edward MTR station. Overall, I would definitely recommend this hotel to my friends. 😄👍
"Can't really fault it at all"
I gave it four stars as I thought the restaurant was overpriced, however, that is the only reason. I recently returned from this hotel, being my first time in Hong Kong (apart from flight stopovers). I picked it on expedia, not knowing anything at all about it and seriously won the lottery. The location is absolutely fantastic, above a mall and the train station and, the rooms, facilities, staff, room amenities, pool and gym and service are faultless. It is clean and the staff are efficient and pleasant. I will say the rooms are small, we normally stay in apartments in the Pacific Islands and Queensland, however, I don't see this as a negative, we were in Hong Kong, everything is on top of each other. I am realistic. My eight year old son was injured during our stay and the hotel were absolutely 100%attentive, having a car and details of the hospital waiting for me at reception and phoning us regularly to check on his well-being, the Duty Manager even visited our room. I was really impressed with absolutely everything about the Royal Plaza and also Hong Kong. Would 100% recommend it and would definitely return.
"Friendly, helpful and compassionate service"
My wife stayed in Royal Plaza Hotel during her her family reunion in HK from 3/5/17 to 19/5/17. She had an accident and broke her hip. She had an emergency operation in hospital on 12/5/17. Then I flied to HK from Sydney on 16/5/17 to handle the documentation of the hospital as well as take her back to Sydney which had been scheduled on 19/5/17. The airline required my wife to submit her passenger medical clearance form 72 hours prior to her scheduled flight departure time. It was impossible for me to do it on time. The Chief Concierge of the Hotel helped my wife to download the MEDA Form and fax the Form back to the airline. She managed to meet the time limit required by the airline. and returned to Sydney on schedule. Without the help of the Chief Concierge, this returned trip could not be materialised. Furthermore, due to the accident, we did not have time to mail boxes of things that my wife had bought before the accident. It was also the Chief Concierge who help us to solve the problem. My wife and I are very grateful to the Chief Concierge of Royal Plaza Hotel in our critical moment. If the Hotel can maintain this friendly, helpful and compassionate culture, I would highly recommend it to anyone.
We stayed in this hotel for our short Kaur to Hong Kong as a family with kids, 5 and 10. We had a large family room with two big beds. The location was very convenient, right next to the MTR Mongkok East Station, a big shopping mall and the large Mongkok outdoors market. We used the swimming pool and the kids loved it so we ended up cancelling some of our plans just to relax there one afternoon.
"Oasis in a long day of street shopping!"
I stayed with my family of 5 (3 elders) for 3 nights this May 2017. I chose to book at Royal Plaza because it appears to be very comfortable given the hotel's reviews and 5-star advertisements. I also considered its location--relative to my family's love for street shopping. The hotel did not disappoint us in both. However, here are some Pros and Cons that I would love to share with fellow travelers based from our experience: PROS 1. LOCATION - If you are into street shopping, the hotel is walking distance from Ladies Market (10 min.), Sneakers Market (10 min.), Goldfish Market (5 min.), Sino Centre (15 min.), etc. You can work your way towards these areas via the footbridge from MOKO mall. Elders in our family (60 - 65 years old) are still able to walk this distance under no stress and with comfortable shoes. MongKok East Station is also walking distance (under 5 min.) from the hotel as it is inside MOKO Mall. 2. COMFORT - The hotel rooms (we booked a family room 1+1 room combo) were clean, well maintained, and have good ventilation. The view is also ok, overlooking buildings in Kowloon on our window porch. The beds were comfortable and they provide additional pillows, etc. 3. HOUSEKEEPING SERVICE - The hotel offered complete items for all my family members, we did not need to call to ask for additional dental kits or slippers. They clean the room everyday as long as you do not set your Do Not Disturb. They clean the room consistently without any personal item move out of place. 4. POOL - The hotel pool was clean, there were life guards (yes, relatively medium sized pool only but with more than 1 life guard on duty.) 5. AMBIANCE - Truly a vibe of a business hotel can be felt from the design of the interiors of the hotel. I placed this in PROS as this is both refreshing to me and my family who belong at a higher age group. CONS 1. For interconnecting rooms, there are no one-way locks for the interconnecting doors. The staff will unlock both doors if you want to have an interconnecting room, and you will not have an option to lock the door for privacy. It will remain unlocked the entire duration of your stay as long as you choose an interconnecting room. (Thankfully though the doors are heavy and soundproof, so this is not so bad, it is considerable.) 2. Hallways from the lifts are quite a walk, walking from the lift to the pool area will need you to go through the gym as well. Lift to pool is definitely requiring you to walk through a long hall. It is quite awkward should there be people using the gym too as the floor will definitely get wet, not to mention the carpet in the hallway, then again this only turned me off a little and cannot be improved unless the entire hotel infra is changed, so yes, acceptable. 3. No separate standing showers from the bathtubs in some deluxe rooms. We experienced this in the combo'ed room from Family (1+1) 4. Staff is not as friendly as I expected. No greetings, no anything, a half smile is more common--this is true for me and my family despite us wearing suitable attire and are obvious guests. 5. No photo taking in the pool area, cons, yes. Why' Because there were no signs saying photo taking is not allowed, yet they asked us to stop taking photos when we are not even taking photos of the surroundings but only ourselves. We are using GoPro 5 and Canon underwater camera. 6. Rooms are medium in size for a 5-star hotel. This is compared to other 5-star hotels with the same price. 7. They have bathtubs but no bathrobes. 8. Handy Phone cannot be used for hotspot. Overall, I would recommend this hotel for people who love street shopping, but at the same time love to relax and enjoy the comfort of a good room at the end of a tiring trip.
