Stayed for a week on a business trip. First impressions were ok for check in and ground floor of hotel. Once you step in the old lifts, the experience goes downhill from ok. Step out the lift into a dark, suppressive corridor and once you get to your small room, the dark suppressive theme carries on. No matter what time of day, you need to turn every single light in the room on. A good point would be to say the standard of cleanliness was always good. In terms of value, don't stop for breakfast, it'll set you back $35 and it's average. Even a coffee will cost you over $8! All of the above is disappointing but what really left a sour taste in my mouth was the check-out bill. In fact if it weren't for the check-out bill I probably wouldn't have bothered leaving this review. The hotel charges a 'residence fee' of $30, for every night! Once you add a daily sales tax and a daily city tax, the check-out bill was over $200. For nothing!! Even though my NY office is next door, I won't be using this hotel again.

"Pretty cool place to stay but missing basic touches"
This hotel is certainly 'nice', with fancy decor (even though it's so dark in the lobby it's hard to see your hand in front of your face), helpful, attentive staff and an overall luxurious boutique feel. However several basic touches were missing that I'd expect any hotel to provide. First of all the wifi was shocking. Tremendously slow, dropping all the time, not available at all in some locations... There's just one wifi across the hotel (not room specific) which I guess caused these issues. As I was travelling for business this was a huge hindrance and I'd think twice about staying there again for business. Secondly, there were no tea or coffee making facilities in the hotel room. Again, for the price paid to stay here I expected this to be a given. Fancy minibar and snacks yes, but no facilities to make your own drinks. The hotel room decor was a bit industrial and harsh with not enough natural light coming in. The corridor decor was frankly grim. Faded carpets, no windows, disguised steps to trip over. On the plus side, I was very impressed with the gym facilities, and certain touches in the room I liked (the dimmer switches in the bathroom, as well as the robe and having an ironing board.) The staff were also were helpful, friendly and accommodating. And the location is fantastic, great central location for everything. My main issue was not having those basic touches which would have helped me feel like it was good value for money. It felt like all their spend was focused on making the lobby look fancy while neglecting the rooms and basic touches.
"Quick 3 day trip to NYC"
Centrally located on 44th Street. Large rooms for NYC Boutique hotel. Walk-in closet! Great Friday night bar scene. Recommend as a value stay hotel. Very attentive staff, and super clean room. Will return.
"Too many problems"
In spite of recent upgrades, I cannot recommend this hotel. The shower never worked correctly despite your sending plumbers too times! Scalding water or ice cold and no ability to mix it in 1209. Also there are no drawers to store clothing and we had to use the ironing board as a shelf. And no information in the room about the hotel restaurants or facilities. The shower problem alone was enough to keep me from recommending this hotel. I frankly thought you should have refunded some portion of the room cost.
