"Fantastic hotel for families!!!"
I'm a Marriott traveler and I've been to over 200 different Marriott properties around the world. This is definitely in the top 20. Staff was incredibly friendly, front desk made special arrangements for us (Brian) and the bell staff (especially Mahindra) was very very helpful. And not only with our bags....The lobby is also quite special. Each time we brought in food from a different restaurant (or dessert), we found comfortable space in the lobby to congregate. It made for a great meeting place that was also relaxing (and sometimes with entertainment). The pool has a water slide which was very entertaining for my kids and the many food options made it easy for us to stay here with picky eaters. The beachside lunch restaurant could use a little assistance with the time it takes for food to arrive but the servers were great. The chef at La Vista prepared the fish we caught earlier in the day for us and it was unbelievable!!! One of the best meals of the trip!! The location is also very convenient (and safe) and easy to walk to lots of really good restaurants (within 3 blocks). All in all....my family had a great time here!!!!! If you want peace and quiet, no music, no kids....this isn't the resort for you. But if you want to have fun and take advantage of what the hotel has to offer....this is your place!!
"One of the best places on the beach in San Juan"
Interesting Lee enough I found that I had stayed at this place once before. Way back in 1981 when it was then called the DuPont Plaza. Apparently it burned down in the late 1980s and one of the worst hotel fires in history. Nevertheless it was bought by Marriott and restored to its original Splendor. It has been refurbished many times since then and is in excellent shape. Service as always is great. The beach is very nice one of the best in San Juan. While the Vanderbilt Condado look nicer from the outside the Marriott has a nicer Beach. Restaurants as would be expected or expensive as our drinks by the pool. The nice thing is it is convenient to Ashford Avenue and a lot of nice fairly inexpensive restaurants along there. If you don't want to hear screaming kids this is not the place for you. Weekends are often frequented by locals trying to get to the beach and booking numerous people in a single room. During the week seems to be much more peaceful. The swimming pool has a decent-sized water slide which attracts a lot of children. There is usually some loud music out by the pool. Overall, while the hotel is showing showing some signs of aging they keep the property up very nicely and I would recommend this as a good mid-priced destination
"Fantastic Experience and Customer Service"
I was fortunate enough to use my Marriott points to get a corner room at this beautiful and wonderful hotel. The room was better than I had ever expected. Beach and pool view from the side windows and full beach view from the back window with a full wrap around balcony. But I tell you, even if we had a city view I would still be impressed. The beach is right there, the pool is right there. Ranger American security, their contract security company was just fantastic. I work for a security company and I have to tell you, that these men and women were of high caliber and like everyone at the hotel their customer service was impeccable. The drinks were a little light in liquor, but again their beachside and poolside service was wonderful. They had a Gold Elite members appreciation cocktail hour. They went all out! Thursday's is the classic rock night (50-60s) with the band The Classics playing - they deserve their own review, that's how good and entertaining they were. Friday had a Rumba band playing, although I really wanted to hear Salsa or Merengue. Again all very classy. The concierge services directed us to the right restaurants and sailing service. I can't stop saying good things about this hotel resort. We don't gamble so I gave away my $30 match money, but that was nice of them to provide that. We happen to be there on San Juan Eve and they had a DJ and party by the pool. Again, all classy with great security. The whole strip reminded me of Miami Beach but without the arrogance. Beautiful people and beautiful culture that brought me back to my roots. I will book this place again and it really doesn't matter which room you book. The beach views are great, but you will be outside in the sun all day or at some hotel event so don't worry about the room. I suggest visiting the Morro, Old San Juan and going for a couple hours of sailing with Captain Ivan a true sailing man. (787)667-7778. A trip to Carolina to eat authentic affordable Puertorican and Cuban food at Metropol Restaurant Isla Verde. You can Uber everywhere but make sure to ask if there are Uber drivers in the area you are going to. The next time I will visit the Yunque rain forest and go eat at Riaces Restaurant in Old San Juan. Bring Sun block because even two hours with cloudy weather you will burn. Why visit the Bahamas or some foreign port when you can visit and support a beautiful American commonwealth with beautiful Americans and beautiful culture with great food and sights.
"Great resort in a prime location"
We stayed at the Marriott Resort and Stellaris Casino and it was fabulous. The location is in an excellent section of San Juan, within walking distance of restaurants, night life and small shops. The resort, including the guest rooms, lobby, bars, restaurants, pool area and the beachfront were immaculate! Prices are comparable to any resort prices for rooms, food, drinks, etc. The service we received was absolutely outstanding! From the housekeepers, to the front desk, the pool/beach attendants, and the casino staff, we always were warmly welcomed and waited on. A personal shout out to Kenneth Figueroa in the casino-your hospitality and attention was much appreciated!!!
"nice hotel close to walking distance of bars, restaurants and sightseeing"
San Juan Marriott is a great getaway hotel in San Juan. Rooms are great with a sitting area and balcony and either city view or ocean view. The rooms are renovated and bathrooms are spacious with tub/showers. There is casino downstairs along with bar and restaurants. Walking distance to many bars, restaurants and sightseeing.
