"Nice resort, horrible service"
We have stayed at several Starwood hotels in the past and have never experienced such horrible service as we did at Santa Marina. The resort itself is beautiful but it does not make up for the fact that the staff is extremely rude. If you want to go to this resort and spend thousands of Euros a day you will be favoured over the other guests but if you plan on going to relax and eat/drink moderately do not expect the service you usually receive at a resort of this caliber. I would highly recommend booking elsewhere on the island given the price tag this resort comes with.
"Beautiful hotel, unfriendly service"
My friend and I stayed in the Santa Marina hotel at the end of August/ early September. The resort is absolutely beautiful, the room was wonderful, it was clean and the beach was amazing. However, we had a terrible experience with the concierge, Juliette, at the hotel. She assumed we were only eating at Buddha Bar when we asked her to call a taxi (likely because we are young 25yo females, but in reality we are platinum members). She was extremely rude and dismissive. The next day, she told us there were "no taxis". When asked how we would get to the restaurant we wanted to go to, she told us boat was the only way and told us it was 30euro. When we got down to the dock, it was actually 60 euro. Every time we were in the lobby talking to other workers she was extremely unfriendly. For such a beautiful resort, the treatment was uncalled for.
"Beautiful Beach Resort"
If you want a beach resort, away from the touristy old town of Mykonos, this is the place. Great, upgraded accommodations - we stayed in a 3 bedroom villa that was recently upgraded - amazing new spa, and the beach area was fantastic. We enjoyed the breakfast on site each day, at lunch out on the beach and one night went to the on site Buddha Bar (they have amazing specialty drinks and a visiting chef from Paris). Transportation was arranged by the hotel to visit the old town of Mykonos - an easy 15 minute drive. The town can get very crazy busy - try to time your visit when there are no, or just one cruise ship in town. Find a great place for a sunset dinner in old town as the sunset at the resort happens over the mountain, not into the water.
Stayed in Saphire 3 Bedrooms Villa and loved, amazing view, some steps to reach reception but good for exercise, also they have a buggy to drop you at the villa any time...beautiful private beach, the reception and concierge are very helpful. The Buddha bar is a restaurant in the property but the service is very slow, one waitress quite arrogant...don't even complain or she will be worse. A big thanks to Maria The costumer relations Manager, her dedication was perfect. Very nice resort to exclusive holidays in Mykonos.
the world changes and the people get uglier and crasser, but The Santa Marina is wonderful and now has the new and improved pool and deck. very nice!!! The staff, friendly, and effective make this place, from the concierge muses to the lifeguard and waiters, and beautciiand for ladies they are all smiling and working their buts off.
