"Absolutely Wonderful - Perfection 💕"
We stayed at Chalet Hotel Schoenegg- Zermatt, in February 2017. What an amazing experience 💕 We will not stay anywhere else on future trips to Zermatt. Family run and warm ambience from arrival onwards - entrance tunnel, lighting and music quite an amazing experience also. Rooms and facilities are really lovely - so comfortable.. The breakfasts and evening dinners were truly superb. And the views from breakfast tables as dawn light breaks over the majestic Matterhorn were simply breathtaking and awe inspiring. It was heard to tear ourselves away to actually go skiing! And for lovers of The Night Manager TV thriller series, it was an extra thrill to sit every morning at same table Tom Hiddleston filmed a scene in at the dining room of the Schoenegg! The breakfast fare was a sumptuous array of hot, cold and continental choices including freshly baked, melt in the mouth mini pastries / croissants and delicious teas / freshly made coffees or cappuccino if you preferred. And complimentary, sparkling Prosecco if you so wished a added breakfast treat. Dinner was equally delightful and felt like masterchef dining and presentation - delicious salad choices with four courses each night in the intimate and ambient surroundings of the scenic dining room overlooking the twinkling lights of the village. Delightful Rosa in the restaurant and indeed all the restaurant staff and chefs make the experience just perfect - the onwner also visited each table every evening for a brief chat with all the guests and this was a very nice gesture. Roaring log fire in lounge and altogether a sublime, intimate and romantic setting and experience. Cannot recommend the Hotel Schoenegg highly enough - it is wonderful in every way and made our visit to spectacular Zermatt ( best skiing ever too - snow conditions were fantastic) an absolutely unforgettable experience. Don’t delay - book this gorgeous hotel now for a perfect holiday! Thank you to everyone there for the most wonderful time. 💕
""Chalet Hotel Schonegg is full of Spectacular Matterhorn Magic""
We stayed in a Matterhorn View room that "literally" took our breath away when we stepped into the well appointed room! When we first Arrived in Zermatt, the Hotel Porter was right on time to pick us up from the Tram Station, and proceeded to shuttle us and our luggage through an amazing James Bond style tunnel into the Hotel, it was a delightful welcoming experience!! The whole staff was so kind, and the morning breakfast was delicious and afforded even more views of the incredible Zermatt area. We had an opportunity to enjoy the Hotel bar area as well, which was so warm and inviting, and it touched our hearts to see that the family next to us had their 2 beautiful Labrador retriever's sleeping under their table, after being feed their evening dinner. (Their evening dog bowls were empty in front of them ) It's nice to see a country that welcome's the guests pets, they are family too :) We were really impressed with our whole stay, and we would highly recommend the Chalet Hotel Schonegg as the place to stay in Zermatt! We hope to return someday, it was our first trip to Switzerland, my husband's Dream, and he and I were not disappointed! We LOVED our visit, which included riding the train, and hiking the Swiss Alp areas, along with experiencing the top of the Gornergrat with it's mind blowing spectacular views of the Matterhorn, the Monte Rosa and the countless Glaciers coming together@ Riffelsee, It was an amazing trip, and Andrew my husband made it Perfect by making sure we adjusted our itinerary to the weather in order to view the incredible mountains during our stay, "its quite important", as if you fail to plan ahead for the visibility aspect you might miss one of the main reason's you came, to "visually see" and touch the Heaven's from Switzerland's Magical Alps! A "Big Thanks" to the Whole Chalet Hotel Schonegg family and staff for your Warm hospitality and incredible accommodations.... Best Wishes with Warm Thanks! Andrew & Gail Simon
Amazing room (Junior suite), great chalet look, luxurious, big and clean. Great staff, very professional. Fabulous breakfast and don't forget to take one omelette! Really a hotel to recommend while staying in Zermatt.
"Outstanding hotel with superb views and food"
We stayed here for a week in a 'Matterhorn View' room which certainly gave us a stunning view of the mountain which we never tired of. We reported a minor issue with our room which was resolved the same day. The hotel staff were all very friendly and helpful but we were particularly impressed with the restaurant waitresses who always greeted us with a big smile and were permanently cheerful. The buffet breakfast was superb and dinner of the finest quality. In summary this is one of the best hotels we have ever stayed at and gave us a very memorable holiday in Zermatt.
"A great hotel with great staff"
We have not visited Zermatt (or Switzerland) before and were very very pleased with this hotel. The location was great (opposite the Matterhorn and above the village level - giving uninterrupted views from the terrace); accessing it was easy, a short tunnel at village level to lifts to take you into the hotel. All the staff were very friendly, welcoming and professional. The waitresses were always very attentive and made every effort to make you feel at home; the chefs/kitchen staff were always flexible about the evening meal (we were on a half-board package with a set evening meal) and made as many changes as needed. The room attendants, although rarely seen (as so efficient), kept the rooms just right - and managed to do an evening turn down service while we were at dinner without fail. The room was quite large with a balcony that looked over the valley (away from the Matterhorn). There was plenty of choice at breakfast (including prosecco!) with a great juicer that had not problem turning whole carrots into juice; and evening means were very well presented and extremely tasty. After spending most of day walking and going up the various cable cars etc. it was great to sit on the infinity terrace (surrounded by glass walls) with a drink and look at the Matterhorn - which does look impressive! Prices are expensive in Switzerland, but there is a handy COOP supermarket near the railway station (for such things as beer (for me!), fruit (for my wife!) and snacks for both of us. (There is a fridge in the room with room for the odd bottle of beer). If you like a spirit in the evening - bring some "duty free" from the UK, it is lot cheaper. Zermatt is small with everything easily reached on foot and, with only electric vehicles, quite quiet. Nothing to do with the hotel - but take the times given for various walks on signs and maps with a pinch of salt! They may be correct for dedicated hikers, but took longer for us ordinary folks (add 50% or more)! Any specific questions - ask me! If we came back to Zermatt, we would without doubt stay at this hotel.
