"Relaxing break and wonderful villas"
Stayed here to celebrate Wifes 40th Birthday, and was not disappointed. From the moment we landed at the airport at Gan we were looked after superbly. We had been given a room upgrade courtesy of Golden Circle membership, meaning a deluxe pool villa! This was wonderful and spacious, nice views out to sea and a private pool. Golf buggies are available to whisk you around the resort, as well as bikes being available if you want to cycle along yourself. We had our young son with us so werent able to swim or snorkel as much as we would have liked, but all facilities looked amazing. Food, Staff, Location, Everything fantastic and would love to save up and visit again.
We spent 10 days at Villingili and wished we could have stayed longer. Our Overwater Villa was superb and to be able to snorkel directly from it was great, however if you want total seclusion our choice for the last 6 nights of our stay were the Ocean View Tree House Villa's, although a little more expensive we would definitely recommend them. The food was exceptional especially at Fashala which was our favourite restaurant on the Island. Shijaz our waiter deserves a special mention he certainly went that extra mile. The other restaurants, Dr Ali and Javvu served excellent food to suit all tastes and the buffet breakfast at Javvu had a varied choice of excellent food. The gym was well equipped and Manaf the sports manager was such a helpful, friendly and knowledgable guy. If your into tennis or golf he's the man to see. Wishaan our Villa host was exceptional and could not have been more helpful, he made a real difference to our stay. If fact there were so many friendly and helpful management and staff it is impossible to mention them all. The Dolphin cruise and the glass bottom boat are a must as is the snorkelling. It is such a magical place with so many amazing trees and vegetation, the flying foxes were delightful and it was great fun to watch their aerobatics. This had to be one of our favourite holidays ever, we were very sorry to leave.
Oh man I'm not even sure where to begin... this resort is just fantastic. From the moment you arrive in MLE airport, you are presented with the amazing service that Shangri-La is known for. We were promptly assisted to the domestic terminal, and checked-in to our domestic Maldivian flight to GAN. We then took the opportunity to relax a bit in the Maldivian lounge, which offered free drinks and a simple breakfast buffet. The flight over to GAN took just under two hours, and the subsequent speedboat transfer to the resort property was painless. Once you arrive on the island your name is taken and you are showed to your villa - where you complete the hotel check-in process. We stayed in a water villa which was absolutely stunning in every way. The resort is well maintained and manicured with detail, and I really can't find any faults in anything unless I start nitpicking - ie: if you don't know how to ride a bike you can pretty much forget exploring the island, as you are left to rely on the network of chauffeured golf carts (no problem there, as they arrive promptly after you call for one). Our next door neighbor had access to a tricycle but we were told by resort staff that they don't offer tricycles...' The food at the resort was also really great. My wife and I had the opportunity to dine at each restaurant, and are happy to report that each restaurant far exceeds our expectations. Everything from the included buffet breakfast to the snacks/finger food at the M Lounge were reasonably priced for a resort, and tastes great. I would advise against the full/half board options offered, as you would really need to try really hard to get $90 worth of food and not feel overwhelmed. Complimentary snorkeling equipment was offered, and we used the equipment at every chance we had. The reefs are 90% bleached, though that is completely out of control of the resort. Regardless, we were able to see a lot of wildlife, and even swam aside a sea turtle just outside our villa. Overall, great experience. Great resort. Well worth the trip!
"Best hotel in Maldives"
The hotel was perfect the room was large enough ,the island was large and there is a lot of things to do and you can ride abike along the island, you can see dolphins by sea tour and there's a lot of activities like jet ski, fishing and many things.
"Loved it and was a good break"
Loved the Shangri-la in Maldives. We flew straight into Gan and the hotel looked after us from that point. Room service is a little slow but we had fun. The watervillas were quite nice though you couldn't really put your feet down because of the coral. It's good for snorkelling and we took a boat out to snorkel and look at the dolphins. The kids club is good as we were able to take our daughter to do t-shirt painting and to play indoors when it was too hot to play out in the sun. Loved the calmness of the place. And the best bit is you could sit on a beach with no one around you or you could join everyone by the pool/bar and separate beach they also have! Totally recommend
