The Sheraton Abu Dhabi Hotel & Resort is located at the splendid corniche in the capital city of the United Arab Emirates. Along with being a ‘green city', thanks to its many tree-lined avenues and parks, Abu Dhabi is also becoming a vibrant and bustling city and is on the verge of transforming itself into a truly global city - planned to be a centre for the fine arts.
"Nice hotel near the Corniche"
The Sheraton Abu Dhabi is a very nice hotel steps away from the Corniche. There are several stores and restaurants within walking distance. Taxis are readily available at the lobby and relatively cheap, and for us, more economical than public transportation. The lobby is beautiful and well maintained. The rooms are on the small side, as is the balcony, which is too small for enjoying. The beds are comfortable, with nice linens and plenty of bedside storage (with reading lights, too). Free bottled water (in addition to coffee & tea) was plentiful and restocked daily. The bathrooms are large, with beautiful marble, lots of storage space, and a separate shower and a large tub. Bathroom amenities were great and more than the standard fare: in addition to the standard shampoo, conditioner, soap and lotion, there was mouthwash, shower cap, sewing kit, bath loofah (my favorite, I still use mine), vanity kit (cotton facial pads and swabs) shaving kit, dental kit (toothbrush and toothpaste) and 2 bathrobes. Very nice! The two pools were very nice (the smaller one has a small water slide). There always seemed to be enough lounge chairs, even if you arrived later in the day. We weren’t too thrilled with the beach, since it’s more like a lagoon, so the water is colder and a little murky. We are happy that we upgraded to the Club lounge. The breakfast buffet in the restaurant was delicious, and pretty much anything you could want to eat is there. Having all-day access to the lounge meant we really never needed to eat at other restaurants (we saved tons of money, so the upgrade more than paid for itself). Even though the food choices were limited (it was a lounge, not a restaurant, so the limited choices were expected), we almost always found something we liked. In general, afternoon snacks were cold (i.e. sandwiches, wraps, salads, etc.) and evening appetizers were hot (pasta, fish, meatballs, meat patties, etc.). The lounge also had unlimited soft drinks all day, and specialty alcoholic beverages from 6-8 pm each evening. There were also all-day snacks, juice, coffee, tea and desserts. The Lounge staff was great, and made sure to have a last-call before the 8 pm hour drew near. Wi-Fi was included in the Club level and worked very well (FYI, FaceTime is not allowed in the UAE). There are several computers in the lounge to use. The biggest plus for the hotel is the staff. They were always cordial, professional, and helpful. We had a medical incident during our stay (not related to the hotel), and the hotel kindly (and without expense) rushed my family member to the hospital. That gesture was greatly appreciated by my family!
"Good staff, poor front desk"
I travelled with my mother on this holiday. The resort is well placed, and has excellent staff. We booked a twin room but had to fight for this when we arrived. The front desk stated that they didn't have any twin rooms, even though I produced the booking paperwork to state that is what we'd booked and paid for. Additionally, they wouldn't take a debit card as security, and I had to front up with 1000 dirhams in cash. The room when we finally got it, was tired and small but the beds were comfortable. The restaurant staff were superb, as were those by the pool but the front of house leave an awful lot to be desired. During our stay my mother had a fall, down some steps that were badly lit and unsafe. Whilst she does use a stick, it would be easy for an able bodied person to fall in the same place. The restaurant staff were excellent, but nobody from management came to see us to see if my mother was ok. On leaving the hotel we asked for late check out but were constantly refused. It took me to remind them of their risk assessment shortcomings before we were given a late checkout. I wonder why one has to "throw ones toys out of the pram" for management to take any note. I visit The Emirates most years and would not re-visit this hotel based solely on the bad impressions caused by front of house. A shame
"Not the best choice from SPG offer in Abu Dhabi"
Well, As I'm choosing SPG hotels wherever they are available, this time I spent some time in Sheraton. My general impression wasn't bad, but this is not the best offer, from these on what Sheraton can afford. Definitely, location and staff are two strong points of that hotel, but room quality or Club Lounge could be better. Anyway, for business trips, that's good and quite flexible proposal. For longer family stay - not, at least in my opinion.
Excellent Service,Great Location,Lots of Restaurants,Great Club room,Great range of breakfast.Excellent pool area and kids pool.Excellent beach location.Only negative no undercover parking for your vehicle.
"Great break , good location....."
Just back from a week all inclusive at this hotel. Pools are great and the facilities in general are of a high standard. The location is good too with several shops etc within walking distance or short taxi ride if too hot. All in all a great break. Special mention to Jacob (towels) Anthony and Ajith (pool bar) Hazel and Warana(flavours) and Elsie in the club lounge.
