"I'd stay again when visiting Berlin"
I stayed at this property for nine days as part of a business trip. For the price, services and general feel of the hotel, it's a great place to stay! - Consistently friendly staff, at check-in, event services, and wait staff - Comfortable bed, clean room, reasonable amount of television channels - Reasonably Fast Wireless Internet (and wired as well) - Excellent, very tasty buffet breakfast if it is included in your rate. Breakfast goes until 10am on weekdays. - The covered area just outside the hotel is great to meet coworkers in the evening, or just have that last drink before the night ends - Location-wise it's about a 10-12 minute walk to KaDeWe and the other shoppes on the Ku'dam - The air conditioning worked well - there was plenty of hot water and water pressure was excellent
"Fresh hotel with nice rooms and good service. Also offers lounge that is less good."
The Sheraton is located near the Lützowplatz bus stop where buses go to the zoo or Potsdamerplatz. It is also walking distance to the metro station, U-bahn, Nollendorfplatz (which are includes many HBTQ places), about 10 minutes’ walk. The hotel is quietly located by a canal. There is a host outside the hotel that helps you with taxi, luggage. Outside the entrance there is also a serving which has afternoon sun. Nice! The lobby is nice and fresh but not grandiose, the bar located to the right is very nice decorated. They also have a second bar with live entertainment at evenings that is really nice. We had booked a standard double room (classic room) with 2 separate beds and upgraded to club lounge access. Although you have chosen the club lounge you do not have a separate check-in but you check in to the regular reception. According to the hotel as there are as few as at this hotel that choose the lounge. There immediately disappear on advantage of the lounges' benefits not to be able to check in separately if there are many who are in queue. More about the lounge further down the text. Nice lifts and you never have to wait a long time for a lift. Inside of the elevator is impossible to see which floor is on (bad display). Nice fresh hotel corridors that also have a pleasant lovely scent. Love the smell! The scent is also found in the toilet and weak in the rooms. Very nice! The rooms are better than the pictures I previously viewed on the hotels own website where they seemed a bit older because of the metal frames around the window. The rooms are very fresh, bright and seem to have a Scandinavian design, that is, with light wood furniture, panels. To size, the rooms are normal when compared to other 5-star hotels. The rooms are quiet. The only thing that can be heard is when others close their hotel room doors. Wi-Fi is free if you are a member or have book Club Lounge. The rooms have light carpets, two wardrobes, place to put the bag, safe, flat screen TV who could have gotten bigger. Coffee machine, refrigerator where you can place some own items. Wine glasses but no cocktail glass, just water glass. Work surface, armchair and comfortable beds with fluffy quilts. Nice and quiet air-condition. When we ordered ice cubes to the room, it was delivered quickly and for free (which is customary at 5-star). The bathroom is modern and has a bathtub. When we called because we had trouble getting the shower on and wanted extra towels than 3 people arrived. Very good response, service! All in all, staffs are very service minded. The Club Lounge The club lounge is located on the entrance floor in a corner, almost so you do not see the door. The look of the lounge is like a lounge should look like. Quiet, sober and a luxurious with good furniture. Very good! The lounge is open from early morning till 11 pm in the evening. Continental breakfast is served in the morning. Poor supply. One of the worst breakfasts I've seen in a lounge. During the day there is coffee / tea and soft drinks (also light) and some simple cookies, accessories. A few hours in the evening they offer beer and wine (self-serving) but no spirits or sparkling wine. You also have a little more edible but are not satisfactory. During the evening, a host / hostess full up so nothing get empty. Problem with the lounge is apparently that many guests choose not to book a room with a lounge or purchase for this on arrival. I can understand why. Lounge’s offer is too small and there are also no staffs in the lounge that can help with check-in / check-out or book a restaurant, etc. It is also a whirlwind of information about what's included and what times. The reception says some time, the website says something else and the waiter in the lounge says something else. There is also a patch in the lounge with times. Who and what to trust is difficult to say, for example when the breakfast closes. We had to make it safe for the insecure and go down early for breakfast. What I praise is that they serve wine until 23 in the evening. In conclusion, the room / lounge itself is very nice, but the supply must be better and the information clearer if it is worth the money. You also do not get a note of information about when the lounge is open and what's included (benefits). In summary, I recommend this hotel because very good value for the money, the service is very good. The rooms are very nice but the lounge I would not book until they have reviewed their concept. I have visited over 100 lounges in Europe and Asia so have a lot to compare with. They also have to work more with social media, when you write a message on Facebook on their own site it take sometimes long to get a reply, even at ordinary mail. This is very important. If you not can handle your Facebook page you should close the possibility to write. If you live abroad you sometime not want to spend money to call by the phone. Thank you for this pleasant stay and will be happy to return and hope you then reviewed the lounge concept.
"I've expected more from Sheraton "
I've chose Sheraton because I did so in other cities. However this one seems to be overrated. First, the location. Far from major destinations. It is in the middle, but not close to the sights you want to see. Nothing nearby. You'll have to walk or ride. Second, it is old. It is. Just an old hotel. Third, the staff was ok. Ok, not perfect as you expect from Sheraton. So, it is too expensive for the quality they have, unfortunately.
"Better Before Sheraton "
I first stayed at this hotel when run as an independent German hotel. Now it's Sheraton run. The hotel is showing some signs of wear and staff lacked usual German precision. I failed to get a late check out despite very late check in. That was disappointing. The hotel room had a weird coffee contraption that did not allow for simply getting boiled water. Bathroom was well appointed. My room 424 had a good view of front.
The staff are nice and all but I'm not satisfied with this hotel completely. I am a man of details so here goes: The rooms are hot (I'm from the Caribbean) and you have no control of the thermostat (there's a manual box that supposedly makes it cooler, but not really). There's an alarm imbedded into the furniture that sets off at 3:15 AM (countdown) every time unless you remind yourself to take it out. The furniture is old and clunky, not really good looking. The room I had requested they stuck together two twin beds to make it a king and there's a separation in the middle obviously. There's a taxi stand outside of the hotel that you'll be using often because it's so poorly placed compared to the main attractions of the city. It's in the "middle" of Berlin where nothing happens. The difference you are saving up compared to the Waldorf etc is spent on E10/E20 taxis daily, so it's not that convenient. The breakfast wasn't great, it was alright.
