"Decent common areas, dated rooms"
The Sheraton Grand is located right next to the Chicago river near where it enters Lake Michigan. You have some great views of the cities from the upper floors, and you are close to the magnificent mile - which means great food and shopping options. The hotel itself is easy to find and get to, with dedicated pick up / drop off for rideshares vs. Other. The lobby itself is very nice and spacious, with lots of seating and high ceilings. Front desk staff is helpful, although you're likely in for a wait due to the amount of guests. There is Shulas on site - a nice steakhouse as well as a burger place on the riverwalk. Also there's a decent lobby bar. The club lounge is great... It's a bit dated, but well appointed with great views and plenty of snacks, coffee, and other refreshments (alcohol for a fee). Wait staff at the lounge was very helpful and friendly. Rooms were decently spacious, but dated. Rooms on a higher floor definitely have a great view however. Bathroom was functional but basic. I will say the new bath amenities in Sheratons (le grand bain) is much better than the Shine stuff they used to have. Sincerely,
"Chicago Sheraton Satisfaction"
Arrived on Tuesday June 13th for a business meeting. Please note, it took over an hour to get to the hotel from O'Hare, so please allow for this time as I hear this is the norm. I checked in with ease and the gentleman that helped me was to the point, Not rude but certainly not friendly. This was hotel room block and he didn't ask me if I was a member of SPG and also didn't tell me about internet services or any facilities on the premises or confirm my check out date.. It was fine, as I worked it out, but sometimes its nice to have an extra minute to be told those things. (There was no one behind me in line) Got sent to room 949. Elevators are fast and great! Entered my room and noticed a wonderful view of the Chicago skyline & river. I was so pleased because you really never know what you are going to get! I asked for a king bed and was given a double, but honestly, i didn't mind at all since the view was so great. The beds were really comfortable, the bathroom was nice, but hate the shower curtain. Need doors on there! Room was a little dated. Could have put a full length mirror on the closet door.. but i felt comfortable there and enjoyed my stay. When I checked out on 6/16 at 7:00 am there was a long line of people... one nice woman working as fast as she could, trying to answer phones, assisting people and being as nice as possible. Actually, I felt bad for her. She told me I was supposed to stay until 6/18.. which was incorrect. She had to fix that date on my reservation (this could have been avoided if the man that I checked in with would have asked me) All in all everything was fine and she was so pleasant. She shouldn't be there alone - its a two person job especially with such a big conference going on during this time. The only other thing I would mention is during conferences, people like to drink, talk and meet -- the fact that the bar closed at 12 am was not convenient.
"Solid hotel "
Stayed at this hotel as the conference I was attending was held here. The most outstanding feature of this hotel is very helpful and knowledgeable concierge ladies. I asked about nearby tailor shops for an alteration and they had me connected with an in house service. I asked about the Hancock Tower and they gave me a discount coupon. Beyond helpful and nice. 5/5 The hotel is a Sheraton, basic room, very basic bathroom and shower (no bath gowns). Comfortable bed and pillows, most important plenty of electric sockets for all your devices. WiFi complimentary for SPG members for 3 devices. Breakfast is limited. Omelette station and few breads and fresh fruit. But not expensive compared with similar hotels (I think was around 25 for the buffet). Excellent burger place in the hotel along the Riverwalk, Chicago Burger Co.
This hotel is in a great, central location in the heart of downtown Chicago. The room was clean and comfortable & I had a great view of the Chicago River. The room slept 4, but there were only 3 sets of towels which I found to be odd. Since I was traveling alone, it didn't affect my stay. The walls did not seem to be entirely soundproof as a conversation in the next room woke me up early in the morning. Overall, a pretty enjoyable stay.
"2 day stay"
We upgraded our room to include club access. Snacks provided in evening time varied and were good. Had to pay for alcoholic drinks, reasonably priced and good. Need to improve on breakfast. Just basic continental stuff. Hampton is better on breakfast. Room - bed comfortable, larger room, good view from 23rd floor looking out to Navy Pier. Didn't go to pool so can't comment there. Staff all very nice. I liked being right on the river walk!!!
