"Not up to scratch "
Not Sheraton standard for the following reasons. Gardens outside are unkept, the rooms are good but the mini bar limited. The shape of this hotel is quite large and can be really difficult to navigate between local residence and normal room floors. The gym is limited, only a few treadmills, a stepper and one cross trainer, but there was enough weight and weights machines. No wate bottles in the gym, just small cups that were not effective. No one manning the gym to clean the machines down. I tried to order a burger after landing late at night and there was no burgers available, only the club sandwich which was reasonable enough. Avoid if possible
"Not bad but expected better"
Stayed 2 nights for a business visit in Shanghai. I was expecting more as other Sheraton that I have been to has been pretty good. The room, gym , service etc are all really good. But the one thing that is important for a business traveller is the wifi. But it was extremely slow for the 2 nights I was there. I was at the 30th floor and close to the lift. Maybe it's my room but it was so bad I can go take a shower and still have to wait for my emails to finish downloading. I have to use my data roaming to access my emails on my cell phone instead.
"Oldie but a goodie"
Comfortable hotel, but starting to show it's age. Rooms are a good size, bed very comfortable, but the carpet and fittings are starting to look worn and in need of some attention. Everything is clean and tidy, all the staff are very helpful and friendly. Good location with metro station right outside the door. Will definitely stay here agin, but hope there are some plans for a bit of a refurbishment in the near future.
"Nice comfortable reliable hotel with great service"
There is really not much not to like about this hotel. Staff are courteous and helpful. Rooms are a nice size and well laid out. With metro stop at the front, a very convenient location. Although not so much in the immediate area other than a relatively small mall and a Walmart an easy walk away. The breakfast buffet one of the best there is. Not the time for a quick bite and go but to relax and take the time to savour the many offerings and cuisines. Even the butter is at room temperature and spreadable (a good upgrade) instead of overly chilled and unusable like at most hotels. The Feast restaraunt also a great place for dinner, especially on this occasion with a good price for free pour wine :). Although the a la carte menu is tired and needs an update. Sheraton usually prides itself on internet but the drop outs and poor speed left a lot to be desired. Having to log in time and again a frustration as was the speed which made it hard to stay connected and get work done. Admittedly a busy time for the hotel but still capability should be available. Always an option when in Shanghai.
"Overall 4.5 star experience with some minor glitches"
Location wise, this hotel is on a relatively busy junction, next to a subway station, and facing shops and some nearby malls. I did not have time to go out this trip but this is definitely a very convenient location. 5☆ Check-in was smooth but reception struggled with English and had to be prompted for details on what came included with the room (like breakfast), and internet connection details. The room was appropriately appointed like a usual 5 star hotel, with all the expected amenities. A very nice touch is an option to turn the lights up brightly in the room. I am very pleased. 5☆ 2 things disappointed me: Even though the entire floor is non-smoking, my room smelt of stale cigarette smoke. One can feel it rightaway on entering the room. So the room cannot be totally or properly cleaned. The other irritation is the badly configured wash basin - the tap fitting and the sink are not designed for each other - there is no way to avoid splashing water all over the entire sink surface. 1☆ Room service was generally ok - services were executed promptly and unsmilingly. The Chinese food served was very good. The Western food served was not that great. 3☆ The gym was modestly appointed - bright and spacious. There were quite many treadmills. The equipment were well spaced out and the longish room made the place seem airy and uncrowded. 4☆ The breakfast restaurant was well appointed, staffed and executed. A very busy place in the morning yet managed very efficiently. Hot food options varied everyday for the 3 mornings I was there. Sufficient selections of Chinese, Japanese and Western food options. 5☆ Overall: I am happy staying at this hotel and would return to this hotel when I can.
