As I get to my room and try to use the lavatory, big surprise! This is unacceptable from a 5 stars hotel..they should be more careful with cleaning of the rooms. This is not the first time, I have had surprises in the bed linen, etc...
"Excellent everything. ."
Spent a few days at this hotel and everything was splendid. Particularly, the service at Casa de Cachaca. Shirley at the service speaks great English and provides an above the top service. Thank you :)
"Resort setting at the edge of town"
My wife and I stayed here several days last week, attending a conference at the hotel. The check-in was smooth, and the room on one of the club floors was very nice - a junior suite set-up - spacious and clean, with little wet bar area, and a juliette type balcony, looking south. Conference area in the hotel was well laid out and seemed very smooth. We attended a reception at the Casa de Casarao and it was well done, and the Casa da Cachaca is a charming place on the grounds - a real gem - excellent service and food. The grounds of the hotel are impeccable. the real 'star' for us was the gentleman who served you in the executive lounge - he was very hospitable and offered top service - I regret I did not learn his name, but he deserves a high level of praise. The only drawback (or benefit, depending on your point of view) is the fact that the hotel is located in an isolated area, far from Leblon/Ipanema/Copacabana. So, it's quieter, but on the flip side, far from the 'action' areas of nightlife, etc.
The Sheraton Rio is always great - location, amenities, and the staff. The one person who made a positive impression on me was Shirley. She works outside at the Casa de Cachaca restaurant. She is always smiling and very attentive. Ask for her pepper steak sauce, awesome.
Have stayed at this hotel several times during my visits to Rio and cannot say that I would like the hotel or its location. Since my most recent visit the club lounge has been moved to the 26th floor. It was not manned when I was checking in or checking out. My key didn't work to the club lounge either. Hotel operator couldn't understand what "manager on duty" meant. Would think that basic English proficiency would be requirement when working internationally branded hotel.
