"Nice hotel, god location, sewage smell in room"
My wife and I stayed here from October 5-10. The location, staff, and breakfast are fantastic. However, our room which was on the club floor (I think the room was 737 or 735') smelt like sewage on two different occasions while we were there. The staff was really kind and tried to help with the smell but it was still disappointing as you can imagine.
We stayed here for a long weekend in Stockholm. Location perfect, about a block from Central Station (we took Arlanda Express to and from airport). Check in was easy. Staff were friendly and accommodating. Enjoyed Club Floor and Lounge during this visit! Would stay here again!! The picture below shows the view from our window.
"...and then the bacon was crispy!"
To be a perfect hotel, all those things needs to be there at the same time. Location, friendly staff, nice clean room, a good bed and a tasty breakfast. This hotel has it all. I really tried to find something that could lower my scorecard...and then the bacon was crispy...Would I come back' Silly question 😁
"Naughty tricks with fee's"
Always forget that some of the branded hotels are not part of the brand at all and are at best franchises which have their own rules and deal with customers in manners that are way outside the boundries of good customer service; normally expected of a brand such as Sheraton. Unless you are stuck stay clear....
"Not quite what it was"
First the good stuff: This hotel is still very clean and very centrally located, and the staff is still very helpful and friendly. However on this trip I have to say I'll probably look elsewhere on my next visit to Stockholm. Here's why. First the physical condition of the hotel is going down. Lots of scuffs on the walls, kind of worn out rooms. Little things are no longer happening -- my mini bar was half stocked when I checked in, for instance. The elevators deserve special mention: The hotel requires you to scan your key card to get to your floor on the elevator, and the key card readers are super flaky, so going to your room becomes an ordeal. Nothing is sadder than seeing some guy struggle for five minutes in the elevator to get the buttons to work. People who don't speak English or Swedish and can't read the instructions seem to really, really struggle with this. I was constantly having to help people with the elevator. Finally, although I paid a rate almost 2x what my colleague did (we booked through the same corporate travel tool), my rate did not include breakfast. Breakfast being included is a hallmark at every hotel I've ever stayed at in Scandinavia, except this one. This is corporate cost-cutting gone amok, and charging US$35 is ridiculous. Also, the breakfast, which used to be one of my favorites, has really gone down hill. Things didn't seem to be restocked, everything on the buffet was messy, fruit was tired, etc. It didn't seem worth $15, never mind $35. Anyway the hotel is still clean, and the staff is friendly but there are other options that are also centrally located in Stockholm and next time I'll pick one of them. Maybe you should too. I feel a little bad because this was my home in Stockholm for many years, but it's time to move on.
