"I am sure it will be nice after renovation"
A quick stop over before a cruise. The place was being renovated. Thats fine. However we were placed on a floor where the only thing that separated us from the renovation was a sheet. The place was a mess. Debris everywhere. Smoke detectors disconnected. I am sure it would be nice after renovation, but not impressed with how they are handling the guests now.
"If you want a to sleep, stay somewhere else"
Stayed at this property six months ago, and it was OK. Noisy due to location, but the staff, shuttle and free breakfast was good, so we booked again. The room this time was so noisy, I slept with ear plugs, which by a stroke of good luck, were in my overnight bag. We stay here as my husband is a patient at Bascom Palmer, and it is within walking distance. They usually have a shuttle, which I assumed was still available, since when I checked in they asked the reason for my stay, and I replied "an early appointment at Bascom Palmer". The AC could not be regulated, either on or off or freezing. Pick one. TV did not have NBC, which sounds silly, but I wanted to watch a particular show that night and relax a little, We were told that it happens in a lot of the rooms and there is nothing they can do about it. Next morning we went down to get the shuttle, only to be told due to renovations, they didn't have one. Again, the room was very, very noisy and I hope they put in better noise reduction windows. We are in NYC a great deal, and they have figured that out!
"Family stay for a quick trip"
A quick 2 night stay for a college tour visit mixed with a hospital visit. The staff at this hotel was so nice and so helpful you would think you were in a luxury resort. The staff went over and above to help you. The hotel is in the middle of a renovation so there is construction going on. The beds in our room were very uncomfortable so that is the only reason that they got a very good not an excellent review.
"New renovated hotel"
We stayed at this hotel before and after our cruise in Miami. The hotel was under renovation. Our first room was great. Big, spacious, comfortable. I really enjoyed our room. The staff wasn't bad either. One Hispanic lady I didn't like but whatever. My first issue was no shuttle service from the airport to the hotel. When we arrived via taxi we noticed lots of shuttle buses parked across the street with the hotel name so that was confusing. The food at the restaurant was ok. I had their chicken quesadillas and my husband had their wings and fries. They provide a complimentary breakfast service with hot breakfast. We missed it the first time but got to enjoy it the next 2 mornings. They had a wide variety of food from cold cereal to oats, fruits, assortment of bread to toast, scrambled eggs, waffle maker, juice, coffee and tea. It was good. Did I mention it was free' Well it was which is what Mde it even better. Since a soda was like $3.25 from the front desk. We're from Canada so we had to turn down the a/c because it was so strong in the room which is good. The heat works good too. I like to be warm and comfortable to go to bed. The hotel had a pool, gym and laundry room. We took advantage of all minus the pool. All the gym equipment was fairly new and in good condition and the machines in the laundry worked well also. The area is a little shady since there were always police parked in front of the hotel. Day and night.
"Very disappointed in this hotel"
We travel frequently and try to stay at Marriott properties whenever possible. I made this reservation last year when we booked two rooms because there was a free shuttle between the airport and the hotel. However, that was not the case when we stayed earlier this month and we had to pay for a cab. There was only one elevator available to customers (the other was used by a contractor) and we had to wait up to 15 minutes to go up/down. The food in the cafe was fine but there was only one harried, stressed person working the bar and waiting the table and it took approximately 45 minutes to get our food. Communication about the shuttle to the cruise port was lacking and many people were angry about that. I will say, however, that the staff was working hard to help everyone but some changes should be made to improve stays at this hotel.
