"Gorgeous view on the city and the Acropolis and close to it all"
The St. George Lycabettus Hotel offers high standard accomodation and very friendly personnel. There is no better way to start your day in Athens than to have breakfast on the 6th floor overlooking the city, the Acropolis, the Saronic gulf up to Aegina island.
"Friendly place, good value, amazing views and location"
The Hotel has a fantastic location at the foot of the Lycabettus Hill in Kolonaki, very near the stylish streets and excellent restaurants of Kolonaki. Although the reception section is rather old-fashioned in a 60s or 70s way, the rooms have been redecorated to a fairly good standard. The views are wonderful and the breakfast is good. Staff at reception were charming and helpful. My only criticisms are (i) I asked for a double bed but got two small singles pushed together which was not very comfortable; (ii) the room had a divider to the next door room which presumably could be opened to create a suite, but the noise insulation was not very good. I am sure there are better rooms though.
the hotel in general was ok, well located, and pretty...the room little bit small and i think some of the staff actitud need to improve a little bit, for example the guy helping with the bags...a simple smile is well welcome.
Great hotel I ll visit again . Very polite stuff, very clean room. Amazing sleep. Breakfast has variety even for vegetarians, local products, the view is sensational. We really enjoy the gym. Welcome beverages were fine. I recommend it
"Good location, nice views, a bit tired and not the cleanest hotel, but fairly priced and a good overall experience"
I always think hotels should be judged against the price you pay for the experience, and considering we got this hotel as part of a British Airways holiday package which included 4 nights and flights from LHR with checked bags for £650, I’m thinking that equates to about £80 a night to the hotel, which is quite reasonable. The good points: pleasant quiet neighbourhood, fantastic views over Athens. Mount Lycabettus is Athens’ other main hill along with the Acropolis (about 1-2 miles away) and you have a direct view to it. Good breakfast spread, helpful pleasant staff, nice neighbourhood. The hotel’s rooftop pool is non-heated and only open in he summer. I get the feeling that most of rooms etc haven’t been done up in about 20 years. There is the odd new bit of furniture here and there, but in the main this hotel is fairly tired and in need of a revamp. That said, if you can book it as part of a deal and pay £50-80 a night, you are getting a bargain for the location. The bad points: stratospheric minibar prices (it’s worth getting your own water from a convenience store), cleanliness is a bit of an issue (mould in bathrooms). General state of repair (our shower mixer tap was missing a lever), scratches, marks on wall, rusty balcony chairs, etc. At the end of the day it is a hotel that needs a revamp. But well priced for the experience offered.
