"Hospitality in the Middle"
Caught in between of the trends of the past and not quite caught up with the present. Look closely, not impressive..valet staff ambivalent at times and watched as we loaded and unloaded our car. (two Valet). Toilet not working upon check in. Check in and check out ok but not warm and genuine.Room was nice. Charged us for shaving cream, Really..Who does that any more. Two many options out there to return to this. However, Waiter in restaurant was excellent. It seem this hotel needs a wake up call.
Nice quiet position but expensive to eat and drink around so save your pennies. The food was ok but no wow factor have eaten better meals in the USA and Europe. West Hollywood was very disappointing very grubby and seedy .. I won’t be rushing back to this part of the USA again
"Awesome West Hollywood location"
Checked in for 3 nights with my husband and son. Everything was on point. The staff was friendly, the room was super clean and spacious. They provided us with an additional bed for our son and a welcome gift for him. Every employee we encounter was the most friendly and courteous. The location is great near everything, but just far enough away to get away from the hustle and bustle. We will return.
"Likely to be one of my all-time favourite hotels"
I couldn't wait to write this review after my wife and me stayed here for 5 nights in-between Christmas and New Years. My wife found this hotel via google maps as it was very close to the Sunset Strip, Santa Monica Blvd. and the Whisky A Go-Go (as we were attending a show there), so the location was perfect. The hotel is situated on a fairly quiet street. The facility had several rooms (or Villas) throughout the property. The one we stayed in was set back, in number 10, so you had to walk a bit through the property to get to the room, but as you walked, you were surrounded by beautiful trees, vines lovely seating areas and a fish pond. It seemed like you weren't in the city of West Hollywood. There is a dining area on-site, which we utilized for breakfast (which was amazing). Our room was wonderful! Very spacious, very comfy bed, good-sized bathroom with both a walk-in shower and tub for soothing your body, good-sized TV, plenty of large mirrors, plenty of clothing and luggage storage and a patio for two. One of the many features I loved about the room was that it was dark. As you probably are aware, many in music, movies, etc. have stayed here, and many are out late at night. When sleeping during the morning, you don't have the sun glaring into your room, so we slept so well during our stay. On some nights, we left the patio door open to let the morning air creep in. It was paradise. The staff on-site were better than amazing. We were there for 5 nights and we must have requested valet to retrieve our car at least 8 or so times during our stay. Each time, the car was retrieved in a matter of minutes and with the utmost professionalism and welcoming hospitality. Driving-wise. you are only minutes from Beverly Hills, Melrose and Runyon Canyon (which we recommended highly, as you get a good workout and a great view of the city of Los Angeles at the top). Walking-wise, you have many restaurants within the area, especially on Sunset, as well as a Trader Joe's and a CVS for amenity needs. The history of this hotel speaks for itself. When you walk around the facility, you will see all the picture of famous artists that have stayed here. I can imagine the parties that were thrown here back in the day as well as today. But don't take the work "parties" as a negative. If an event is being held, staff onsite will ensure that other guest are not disturbed as they supervise the event. It was tough leaving the hotel as we left for LAX, but we will indeed return again, and hopefully soon.
"Great find in West Hollywood"
We feel lucky to have found Sunset Marquis and spend three wonderful nights here during the holidays. The hotel is highest quality with such a profound musical history, told all over the walls and in the historical book in the room. Some crazy things have happened here...seems very different nowadays! We stayed in a junior villa tucked away at the back of the hotel, across the beautiful property, very well maintained with two pools, water fixtures, greenery and restaurant/bar. The room was huge, with a large living/dining room, separate huge bedroom and clean/large washroom with the most amazing walk in shower, stand alone tub and two vanities. Wow. The staff are first class and we used the Valet often without any issue. It seemed as though the hotel was relatively empty but still lively at the bar and restaurant. We didn't eat here but it looked really inviting. The free access to the Equinox gym up the hill is a very nice offer, and combining that with the onsite pools, it was really easy to stay active on vacation. The Equinox gym is really high quality and may have been the best gym I've ever used. We really loved our stay here and with a NoMad and Edition hotels opening up in LA, will find it difficult to try any of those places as Sunset Marquis surprised so much. Great staff, services, room and amenities (body wash was too perfumed is my only complaint). Great location tucked away just off Sunset Blvd. No coffee in the room but they provide coffee in the lobby in the morning and snacks in the evening. Thank you to all the staff.
