"Great hotel and location in Namba, Osaka"
Reception and staff were lovely. Room clean and beautiful city views. Breakfast on top floor with almost 360 degreee city views was wonderful. Rooms are slightly smaller in size compared by western standard which is typical for Japan, but again great facilities and clean. Less then 5-10 minute walk to Dontonbori, Den Den Town and Kuromon Ichiba Market. So very handy with the hotel being located at the Nankai Rail Station, allowing a simple hop onto the Rapit Express Train from Kansai Airport. We would definately stay here again if visiting Osaka.
"Excellent hotel with excellent staff!"
We had 6 wonderful days staying Swissotel Osaka after 3 days at Kyoto, thank you Ono who was so patience and professional to resolve our problem in room size. Room very clean, room attendant was so honest, left tips under pillow for them, but they put them back on the side table after cleaning the room. Great breakfast place at 36 floor, spectacular view! Gym was big with in door pool. Location was perfect, very easy to go around, best was to the airport, just need 31 mins and you arrived Kansai Airport. Dotonbori and Kuroman Market just 10 mins walking distance. Plenty to eat and shop, overall excellent hotel, excellent staff and excellent holiday for us. We strongly recommend this hotel if you are visiting Osaka, though the rate is slightly high, it is just all worth it! Thank you Swissotel Nankai Osaka!
"Great Room / Great Service"
A 1-night stay before heading home - through KIX. Location is great, as well as the hospitality. Stayed on the Executive Level - free breakfast is provided. But, the lounge is very crowded for breakfast. Also, the air-conditioning in our room was not up to par. And, it was Summer. There are better hotels in the area, but this one has the best location - right above Namba (Nankai) trian station.
"Bring your earplugs!"
This hotel sounds and looks like it could have been located in a rural area of a developing country - NOT in one of Japans biggest cities! There's absolutely NO soundproofing between the floors or from the hallways, and from early morning to late night you will hear Chinese language, kids shouting and running in the hallways and upstairs neighbors running and stomping in the floor. It sure felt like we were in the middle of a never-ending party. The first night we complained about the noise, because the loud stomping from upstairs made our lamps and tables shake at almost midnight. The staff told us they were sorry, and went on to investigate the problem. We don't know if measures were taken, but it didn't really get any better. We gave up complaining, after we found out about the non-existing soundproofing and general noiselevel of this hotel. It just seems like the "normal" noiselevel in this hotel, and apparently there's a general understanding between the guests that shouting and running in the hallways is absolutely fine ('!) One thing is the noiselevel of other guests, though - but then there's the HOUSEKEEPING.... from appx. 8 in the morning they start scrambling around with one of the loudest vacuums I've ever heard - it sounds like the entire rooms are being vacuumed from floors to ceilings! (Believe me, I'm not sensitive - but this is the absolute first time I've been woken up by a vacuum in a hotel - let alone a 4-star hotel!) Of course they also move around furniture and make everything vibrate inside our room, so you don't even have to set your alarm in the morning..... These are some of the other things we noticed: - Rooms look very old and outdated - Beds are rockhard, and you can feel the springs in the mattress - NO power outlets near bed - Carpets had lots of stains - NO complimentary water (come on.. 4-star hotel'!) - NO vending machines on each floor (and NO convenience store either!) - Restaurants are VERY expensive (black coffee = y800) - Tried breakfast once - had to wait in line for a table - Breakfast set us back more than y7000 (2 adults, 1 child)!! - Using the pool/fitness center costs a whopping y2000 per day, per person!! We paid 28.900 yen ROOM ONLY, and this is the rate for their cheapest rooms. Even in Tokyo you'll find better and cheaper hotels! I am aware that this hotel is in very close proximity to Dotonbori and other tourist traps, but this alone doesn't justify the heavy pricetag. I would recommend anyone, who appreciates a good nights sleep, to seek alternative and smaller hotels in the nearby area. But if you're fine with noise and/or bring your own earplugs, this hotel offers a convenient location on top of Namba Station and near the biggest tourist traps. This is the absolute only positive things about this hotel.
"A Relaxing Oasis in the Heart of Shopping Madness"
My wife and I were lucky enough to be booked into this marvelous international hotel by our travel agent. It is a great place to relax after being bombarded by the relentless shopping of the area. The hotel is centrally located and can be easily accessed. The staff have been very attentive in making sure our needs are met. I liked going to my well appointed quiet cool room to escape the hot humid energetic streets below. Public transparency in its many forms are very easily accessed. The pool and fitness spaces are large and well organized. Breakfast on the 36th floor is quite varied and has an outstanding view of Osaka. It has been a wonderful experience.
