it was a brilliant stay at the Andaman - we loved every minute - location, hospitality, cuisine, service ... all A+ I have to add that the staff were exceptional and made our holiday! We'll be back next year for sure.Comment of M. Jennifer , Australia the 2014-11-29
This was our third visit to the hotel. We had an excellent two weeks. The rooms were well fitted and clean. The staff were friendly and helpful. There was a good variety of restaurants serving very good and well prepared food. Beaches are kept very clean as is the swimming pool area. The added bonus is the range of wildlife that shares the hotel grounds.
"Perfect place to appreciate the wonders of Datai Bay"
This resort has a coral nursery project that seeks to rehabilitate the coral reef that was 60-70% destroyed in the 2004 Tsunami. It is a full-scale project, in collaboration with a university and a cement company. Hotel guests can get up close with this project, the university students on attachment there explain very well, can snorkel in a guided tour around the coral nursery to view the corals up close, and at times, even help out in the rehabilitation efforts! We can also find out more about this project and about the marine life at Datai Bay by visiting the Marine Life Lab which is at the hotel lobby. (When we were there, the nursery was open in the morning and the lab in the afternoon. Do check with the resort in case the opening times change.) We plan to go back again in future so that I have more time to explore the nursery. Our trip was effectively only 3 days, way too short. The great experience with the resort started even before we arrived. With only 3 days in our holiday, I decided to plan and book all our activities in advance. The resort was very prompt and comprehensive in replying to my enquiries and booking requests. The hotel also acceded to our request for early check-in as it was available (we went during a low period and arrived in the mid-week). Service was all over very friendly. We were pleasantly surprised to get a room upgrade. The lady told us the room had a partial sea view. I searched and stared but couldn't spy no sea. However, it was a great room, on the same level as the lobby. So convenient, yet quiet. We appreciated it that they had turned one of the couch/day-beds into a cosy and comfortable bed for our seven year-old :) We hadn't even asked for this, intending to just share our bed with her. She loved her own little bed in a cosy corner. The room was spacious and comfortable. Breakfast was great, a good spread, tastes good. My favoourite dish at the breakfast buffet is the oatmeal porridge for which they provide cinnamon sugar, maple syrup, and raisins. There are more fancy dishes (like nasi lemak, smoked salmon etc), of course, but I've never had nicer oatmeal porridge anywhere else. The service was so friendly and attentive. My daughter couldn't see the egg station, and one of the hotel staff carried up so that she could see. Another came by when she said she liked hash browns and helped her with it. There are two or three restaurants for lunch, and four that serve dinner. The sunset there is AMAZING, so stunning. So do try to have dinner at the Jala (seafood restaurant) or Tepian Laut (Malaysian food) which are on the beach at least once. If you eat at The Restaurant (same place where breakfast is), do mind that the portions could be big. I had chicken rice one day, and ayam kalio another. I think each had at least a quarter of a chicken, I was so stuffed up. Chicken satay is awesome. We went on an evening walk with Fendi (from Junglewalla). It was very interesting. He told us about the lemurs - so many in the Andaman! There is a family of lemurs near our room too. We popped out a few times to look at them after the guided tour. He was very informative, told us about the plants, the animals, and he knew the spots where the fauna frequented. The Spa is awesome - splendid view of the sea, spacious set up, skillful therapists. I'd wanted to sign up for a yoga session but didn't have enough time. I really must come back to this resort again, and not too far into the future, I hope! Our daughter was so sad to leave. So were we. There's so many we want to say about this wonderful resort but it would take a novella! Hope the pictures we posted will tell millions of words about the Andaman.
"Blissful wonderland :) "
They spoil you the way you want to be spoilt when on a vacay :) From the time we stepped into the resort, to when we checked out, we were in awe Couldn't have asked for anything better than this. - Personal favourites - •Breakfast- Amazing spread of finger licking Good delicacies - still miss having the bread and butter pudding. •Private beach - Clean waters, surprisingly no humid area, Spellbinding views and sunsets(every day was a diff experience) •Coral nursery - the small little place doing something really big- conservation of corals. •Wildlife - the educational Afterdark walking tours where we got to see the rare Flying lemurs, tokay geckos etc •Gym - Has a movement studio, Treadmills, ellipticals, most equipments and good condition weights which can easily cover all your routine exercises. No need to carry towels or a little snack- they ve got you covered!! ************* Can do better - Kayak rentals at the beach (IMO, this should be made free for the guests, if not entirely then atleast for the 1st hour) ************* Special mention and thanks to Mr. Roshan Rodrigues for taking very good care of us and making sure we felt at home and more :) ************ For your reference - • We stayed in room type - Luxury seaview (North wing- room numbers - 241-243) do not opt for anything lower than the 2nd floor • Doctors and Clinic - The resort also has a small little clinic with a doc available until 6 pm daily. The next available clinic is at a distance of 15 kms from the resort - Chenang Clinic(name card attached) ************** The longer version - A luxury resort by all means ... Greeted with refreshing welcome - radiant smiles, cold towels and a welcome juice, we were looked after in a way which made all of us feel really special. The start of our stay was made even better when we were given room upgrades for 2 out of 3 rooms- not just random upgrades but rooms with spectacular views, which were right next to each other(Note : this is strictly based on first come first basis but no harm in trying your luck :) ) In the room- you have everything from Dasani packaged drinking water bottles (4x300 ml complimentary bottles per day) to body wash, moisturisers, shampoo, conditioners in abundance.. a safe, a kettle, a coffee maker with coffee capsules, a mini fridge, a big wardrobe, reading lights at each side of the bed, a sofa just by the big window pane or 2 little chairs and a small coffee table to share your quiet moment with a book or with your loved ones - every need is taken care of. Not to forget, the Andaman have a vast rainforest which they are trying to preserve and hence you ll always find the dusky Langoors swinging from our balcony to the other (we somehow felt that they were very well behaved monkeys who knew their boundaries, but it's best to deal with precaution) hence, It is recommended to not keep the balcony open even though you ll be missing out on the musical camaraderie between the Male Cicadas and the waves hitting the shore which you can always catch up on when you are out of your room :) We were a family of 7 with age groups ranging from 7 to 70 and the resort had something or the other that kept us all entertained. Food was never an issue- there are 3 restaurants in the resort each offering multi cuisine options in their menu. This is done keeping in mind that to get to any other restaurant, you have a travel of minimum 1/2 hr one way. If you want to, book an uber or check At the concierge to book you one and you pay by cash. They also had a beach bar with happy hours - the cost of the drinks decreased based on how hot the temperature was 🙃 My Niece(8 yo) had a great time at the young explorers Club and used to look forward to visiting the place every day. All in all, we had a great stay and have already started planning our next trip to this paradise 🙂 Thankyou, Andaman.
The moment you step into the resort, you enter a world of peace, fresh sea breeze, calm and the most gracious staff who truly treat you as their guest. We (family of 6 adults and an 8 yr old) stayed at the Luxury Sea view. The views are just stunning at every hour of the day. The calm and tranquil early morning sea, the sea glistened like diamonds mid afternoon and one of the most spectacular sunsets you will ever see at the comfort of your room.. The beach tucked in between the two hills is forever inviting for a dip in its warm water or just laze at the shores. This beach is ideal for young children as the sand is soft and the waves are no too rough. My daughter spent her day shuttling between the beach and the resort swimming pool.... The night walk organized by the resort is a must do, to watch the rare Colugo. The resort also has a coral nursery and I appreciate and thank them for their efforts to restore the corals back into the sea. The breakfast buffet was extensive which included local delicacies, breads, salads, waffles, juices, Indian vegetarian, eggs station and many more. The staff was very gracious and was always around to ensure we enjoyed our breakfast. "Would you like another cup of coffee, would your daughter like another glass of milk" they would ask graciously. Thank you for being so kind. The lunch and dinner at the resort was cooked to perfection, some of the dishes were so delicious, we ordered them twice. The resort is a paradise, blue sea, lush green rain forest, wildlife, beautiful corals and most importantly the staff who make sure that the guests relax and truly enjoy their stay. I would like to express my gratitude to all those who ensured our stay was absolute bliss. Special thanks to Vivien, Nadia and Salmi from the reservations for patiently responding to my emails and phone calls. A million thanks for upgrading the rooms. Thanks to the house keeping staff, the chefs and the staff at restaurant who served us breakfast lunch and dinner. We will be forever grateful to Roshan at the concierge desk, who took care of all our needs, especially during a small medical emergency that required us to go to a clinic in the town. It is not often that a GM of the resort swings by to welcome you to the resort. It was nice meeting the GM of the resort. Thanks to you and your entire team that we had one of the most memorable and blissful vacation. I hope that I have many more opportunities to visit your resort with my family. Best wishes
"Great place for family with young kiddies"
Excellent resort in Langkawi. The location although far from town and the airport is very exclusive. The location is beautiful located in the bay of Teluk Datai, very exclusive to the hotel. The service was very good and the personnel went all the way out to please you. I thought the Thais were very service orientated until I came here. Security was very good and you feel save and got nothing to worry about being rob in the beach. We even could retrieve things we left on the beach; they were they again the next day. The suit with pool was impressive and access to the beach was just 2 minutes away. Even the sea view room was very pleasant and you can see the beautiful sun set in the sea. A paradise by European standard. The water in the sea was excellent compared to cold Mediterranean seas. Highly recommended to try the spa for a massage or facial workout, the view up in the spa is stunning and worth the experience for the couple. The wireless service was perfect even in the beach and you could place your order directly from your mobile!!! The towel serVice excellent.Cool hand towels on the beach a plus included cucumber slices for the eyes!! Thanks to the Andaman management and personnel me and my family had an excellent holiday in Langkawi.
