it was a brilliant stay at the Andaman - we loved every minute - location, hospitality, cuisine, service ... all A+ I have to add that the staff were exceptional and made our holiday! We'll be back next year for sure.Comment of M. Jennifer , Australia the 2014-11-29
Booked this trip for my sisters 30th birthday, we wanted a really really relaxing break amongst idyllic surroundings and we weren't disappointed. The resort itself is located in the most beautiful bay, later we found out that this was in fact voted the 9th best beach by National Geographic and you can see why. There is a real emphasis on being eco friendly, keeping the beach clean and looking after the local wildlife. The rainforest walks offered by the hotel for free are a fantastic way to get to know the local critters! Our guide was so knowledgable. From Flying Lemurs to exotic frogs and of course the odd naughty monkey! The hotel staff were incredibly accommodating and helpful, especially when planning my sisters birthday surprise (a gluten free cake that needed to be made especially, not easy). Each took time to greet you and have a little chat, all very interesting and a lot of fun. The housekeeping staff were great and incredibly attentive and the whole hotel was spotless and decor has been really thought about. Saying this, for five star accommodation the bedroom/bathroom was a little tired. All sheets and towels were clean, new and fluffy but you could see repair-work that had been done in the bathroom, missing tiles etc, the sink wouldn't drain properly and bedroom furniture was scratched and dented but generally all still looked neat and tidy, however just not to five star standard. It was also a little small for two adults but wasn't too much of an issue as not a lot of time was spent in the room, we were too busy enjoying the delights of Langkawi! The restaurants were aplenty, with choice of Japanese, seafood, traditional Malay and a big selection of more 'westernised' foods in the main restaurant. It was such a relief to see that dietary requirements were taken care of as we were quite reliant on having access to a gluten free menu. Along with the concise menu, the restaurant staff were always happy to run through options and/or make substitutions to suit. A real relief as our trip prior to the Berjaya Time Square in KL (a stop off on our way for 3 nights) was quite a different experience sadly. The spa was beautiful, the treatments were outstanding. What a view! You leave feeling truly spoilt. UK prices but well worth it! Excursion wise, we did a few activities whilst on the island and were ferried about either by the hotels taxis or by booking with the individual activity provider. I managed to get my very cautious and sensible sister up in the air parasailing with me. This is a real must! Book with Naam, they were recommended by many websites/blogs as having all the safety regs in place and a boat with all the equipment on it so you need never get wet. You are launched from the boat and brought back down safely after taking in fantastic views of the island. The skybridge and cable cars were a good idea for a mornings trip. Gets quite busy so best to go early especially if you want to make the trek to the skybridge. Long waits for the lift, we didn't want to wait on way back so walked/climbed back and that was pretty hard going, steep, precarious and not fun on a warm humid day. Take some kayaks (provided by the hotel for R33) out onto the sea and have a look around the little islands surrounding. Very pretty and breaks up a day of sunbathing/drinking cocktails! The Mangroves was an interesting tour but full of tourists. Coach loads of cruise passengers turned up at the same time as us so made it pretty hectic. Our guide was great though but to be honest I wasn't too excited by it all. You visit a small fish farm were the emphasis is to buy your lunch even at 11am, eagle feeding, bat caves etc. I'd like to end on how fabulous the hotel staff were at giving my sister a really memorable 30th birthday. We went to breakfast and had our own table made up especially with candles and hand made paper roses, I believe I have the fantastic Ajay to thank for this, so thank you, you made her day. The cake was brought out to a big 'happy birthday' chorus. Later in the day we arrived at our room to find a gift of spa goodies had been let by one of the lovely managers (Shawn) of which she loved, thanks again for being so thoughtful. In the evening we had another birthday chorus, a special table in the corner of one of the restaurants all to ourselves overlooking the ocean, more gifts and bubbles! I cannot thank you enough for making her feel so special and helping me give her a truly memorable birthday! Will definitely return. Thank you Andaman!
Andaman hotel is a perfect destination for an inspirational vacation. Now we know it:)). For us it'll become a point of return for sure. We had a great time there in the end of October this year. As locals say, the best time to visit this place without weather frustration is December-March or July-September. Otherwise heavy rains will be inevitable. During 2-week's visit we experienced one of them and several of minor importance in the morning or evening. Half of vacation was quite cloudy. But we were just lucky). Despite that the weather was fantastic - not too hot, perfect for swimming and meditating on the beach. It's a family-type hotel with comfortable facilities both for couples and families with kids. Nevertheless it was very quiet and relaxing there. No special dress code as well. Nature is really beautiful as though you live in jungles but with a very high standard of comfort. But don't' forget to take any anti-mosquito's spray for the evening. Beautiful animals were everywhere - grey and black monkeys and squirrels, small and quite big geckos, flying lemurs, lizards, toucans, eagles and etc. The ocean was very inviting both for adults and kids, warm and beautiful, without any under water hazards, quite good for snorkeling. The bay and the beach were beautiful and clean. The pool area is quite big, comfortable and stylish. A good collection of really delicious gelato will make you smile like a kid:)). Sea view-rooms really added positive emotions to our stay there. The higher the floor - the better view you'll get. The hotel itself is very comfortable and cozy, it's modern colonial style is quite appealing. Slight renovations are constantly ongoing but it's not annoying. Overall condition of the hotel is quite good for that type of climate area, may be not perfect, but in case of any problems everything is solved easily and quickly. Service is really exceptional . There is a very good choice of restaurants in the hotel for any taste and budget. European restaurant with morning buffets is a very good choice for evening dinner as well. It was cozy, comfortable and with a big variety of menu positions both from European and local cousins. Do not hesitate to order smth special in advance, our choice was smth from Indian cousin and were extremely happy with the result. Staff there is especially friendly and professional that really made us feel as though we were dining somewhere in our friends' restaurant. Very positive people. Many-many thanks to them, we really miss them all now. This restaurant is really popular so often it takes some time to wait for the dinner, but the expectations of the dinner are always more than met. Breakfast, dinner and gelato or coffee in between for us were more than enough. There is also a very good fish-restaurant. Even if you are not a big fan of fish, shrimps - your stomach and your eyes will be happy. And being barefoot during the dinner, feel sand, listening for the ocean waves and big geckos' funny sounds is very relaxing. Though it is a little more expensive. There are also very good Indonesian and Japanese restaurants. But the first two for us were especially appealing. By the way, do not skip welcome cocktails with the hotel managers. They are very helpful, open for communication, really friendly and full of advice on how to spend time with maximum pleasure, where to go, what to see . And do not forget about SPA-treatments, high quality is in everything. There were no any extra loud evening entertainment activities except live music in the pre-lobby area, so nothing irritating and on the other hand, it was not boring at all. Though if there were smth like an open-air evening movie-theater in english or latin dance-classes for couples in the evening, suppose it could be quite popular and add some more fun and romantic mood if necessary. But in total we even can't say anything bad to be ready for as everything was really beautiful. It is a hotel worth of spending wonderful vacation in it!
We loved our stay here. The location is amazing with a beautiful beach. The staff are amazing, very professional. Food was good, some of the best we had in all our trip in Malaysia. The room was very comfortable and clean. We are definitely coming back. Our daughter loved the snorkeling experience in the coral reef pool.
"Excellent location, amazing service, great food"
Loved the location, between the rainforest and the sea, surrounded by nature. It's beautiful and very peaceful at this time of year. The resort organises day and night nature walks and you get to see the animals and plants that live here and learn about them, definitely a highlight. The staff are very professional and friendly, they seem to know how to meet your holiday needs without being intrusive. One of the staff in particular, Zidan, went out of his way to make our evening dinner special, excellent service!! I was pleasantly surprised by how good and reasonably priced the food was and the seafood is definitely very fresh. It was exactly what I was looking for in a resort by the sea.
Stayed 3 nights last week in this stunning isolated location. Hotel lovely but showing its age and needs renovation in my view. Staff great, food and drinks good, enjoyed beach restaurant the best. This hotel is very isolated and you need to be aware of that, Real plus point is the beach/Bay Area really is lovely. Would I stay here again probably not, stayed in much better luxury hotels, to be honest this hotel is not luxury but it’s all about the location. One small tip from airport use fixed price coupon taxis and book your return through them also.
