"An Honest Review"
An Honest Review First off I have to say we had a most fabulous holiday at the Beloved and everything that people say about the excellent service you receive from all members of staff from the gardeners to the management is spot on. I am now going to make some points that are good and bad......... Tipping .. I don't totally agree with "whether you tip or not you still get excellent service" this is judged on our experience with housekeeping, Our first day of arriving we used all our smaller notes for tipping so by the following morning we had none left as the service everywhere was so good we couldn't stop tipping. We then struggled to get our larger notes changed straight away, we asked at reception but they couldn't help and suggested we try the attendants at the bar but because it was early morning nobody had any change. (Maybe this could be addressed so there is somewhere people can get change from') Because of this, it meant we could not leave a tip for housekeeping, we noticed on the return to our room that day the towels had not been replaced and eventually by day three we only had one small hand towel left!! we also never received any towel art, little gifts or rose petals on the bed each day as many others have said they received' We did tip generously throughout the holiday as all the staff work very hard but did feel let down with housekeeping and do wonder if this has anything to do with tipping.......... Room... Our room was a junior suite ocean view in building number 3, it was fabulous, we emailed ahead to request a high floor room even though this took a while for them to reply they honoured our request. I now have to contradict a previous post which said all junior suites were on the ground floor' This is certainly not the case, we were on the third floor and in the quietest building away from all the restaurants and bars. Our balcony was also very private and got the sun late afternoon and evening so was absolutely perfect. Another contradiction, the toilet, ok so it's not a full door and it is frosted glass but we did not find this a problem at all. I read many reviews before we arrived and I'll be honest with you I was quite concerned about all the comments on the toilet, but, the room was massive and yes it's open plan including the bathroom, but the bathroom alone is so big that if you are stood at the sink it is well away from the toilet! What I do have major problems with is our hotel rooms in the uk, they are so small even with an enclosed bathroom you can hear more than you can at the Beloved rooms by far, so don't let this put you off...... Beach, we sat at the beach every day as the pool as previous posters have mentioned, were empty, the reason, the pool water is far too hot!!! There is also nothing going on around the pools, no atmosphere, maybe they could do with a bar between the two pools with some sort of light entertainment maybe' In regards to the beach, I am afraid I have to disagree with people saying there is no need to rush down early for beds on the beach' Whilst we were there most mornings by 7.30 the best beds at the front of the beach (there is only about 12) were taken. The rest of the beds are quite close to each other and so you are just looking at people in front of you as the beach is quite small so it's a little bit cramped. If you can get the beds at the front of the beach it's gorgeous. The service at the beach is excellent, concierge do a fantastic job in fact they all do a fantastic job, those boys never stop. Massage... we decided as it was our anniversary to have a couples massage we have heard so much about. They had a taster Back massage on the beach with two girls from the Spa so decided to give it a go. Oh dear, I have to say it was the worst massage we have (both) ever had. It was soooo painful and there was no interaction at all from the girl doing the massage apart from telling me to sit down, (not sure why the other one was there') they then spent the entire 10 minutes talking amongst themselves!!! Needless to say we never booked a treatment!! Dining... We spent the first morning at Aroma for breakfast and we were hooked, it was just perfect, so never went anywhere else. The food was good with plenty of choice, the service was very special (thanks Roberto) and they had a live pianist every other morning this along with champagne made my mornings very memorable. We ate at all of the restaurants for lunch and dinner and found them all to be very good. I also have to correct a previous poster who said the sea food restaurant, El Mar, only served seafood' I personally don't eat seafood but was offered a vegetarian menu without asking which I found quite adequate and tasty. The only disappointing meal at the Beloved was on our last night which was our anniversary meal. We booked this at the start of our holiday at Isla grill as we found the service there to be the best. We were told at reception they had two sittings so we opted for the second sitting which was 8.45 which we thought was quite late' Sure enough when we arrived there was only 6 other people in the restaurant so there was zero atmosphere. Why we were booked so late I don't understand' We were them shown to "a" table which I was disappointed with as there was nothing special about the table at all (we didn't even get a red ribbon like a previous poster) in fact there was nothing special about the night it was no different to any other night. We had been sat for about 10 minutes when a big gust of wind sent things crashing to the floor, our night was then spent watching staff clearing up the broken glass, trying to fix a door from the cupboard which dropped off whilst we were eating, clearing up ready for the breakfast and packing away the giant pepper pot which took two members of staff (quite a long time) to lovingly pack it in covers then finally wheel it away on a cart.....only wished we had been given as much attention! I did think a tv crew were going to jump out at some point to say the night was actually a joke (it was that bad) We were offered the "Anniversary" special menu when we arrived but it was dire!!! The starter was so impressionable I can't remember what it was' The next course was soup that was so spicy I couldn't drink it! then the main course was three pieces of grilled meat, chicken, pork and beef served with 4 potatoes wedges''' It was so dry and un imaginative that we only ate half of this then decided to call it a night. I am at a loss as to why you have to book for this so called anniversary dinner' I did question this the following morning with management but he gave me no answer, he apologised and we were offered a special meal in any restaurant that afternoon, unfortunately we were going home so couldn't take them up on this offer which was a shame. I am still reading now about people having fantastic Anniversary Meals, I'm not sure what happened with ours' If nothing else ours was memorable for all the wrong reasons lol. This is a lengthily review but an honest review. I have also made some negative points but hopefully these can be addressed to make this place even better. The staff and management are there to please that can be seen at first hand. We made some great friends with both staff and other holiday makers and have some wonderful memories of The Beloved so thank you.
We stayed 7 nights to celebrate our 35th wedding anniversary. Having stayed at the Sandals Resorts at Club and Butler levels Beloved blows them away with service , cleanliness, and most important staff. I wish I could list ALL the names I can say Everyone we came in contact with was helpful , friendly and knowledgeable. The maid services unbelievable the rooms are serviced twice a day. I have never been anywhere with the kind of detail to service as the Beloved. We stayed in Ocean view suite it is exactly what is advertised. Beautiful room in main building. Some suggestions go to Lupita lounge beautiful great staff and usually as live band. Hydro therapy and spa treatments best couples massage ever, Dinner on the beach , beach and pool service fabulous. We will be back.
"Be loved in Beloved."
This was our first time in a Mexican Resort and it made a very good impression on us. My husband and I enjoy traveling to Caribbean islands and did not have any desire to visit this part of popular tropical destination. Let me tell you, it would still be the same if we did not select Excellence El Carmen Hotel last year. One night we met a lovely lady and after a conversation about our traveling experiences she told us about a lovely place for a relaxing vacation called Beloved. I cannot explain why but after returning home we start checking it out and decided right away that we have to go and experience it all for ourselves and we booked in the first week of September. Right from the very beginning of our stay in Beloved, we start liking it more and more each day to the very end of our vacation. Everything is well organized and maintained. All Hotel employees are doing a fantastic job. All of them are trying their best to make sure Hotel guests receive the best service ever. Customer service in Beloved takes everything very seriously and all the Hotel staff should be proud of it. It is very evident that the top priority of all the staff is ensuring guests are satisfied to the fullest. We stayed in one of the top level casitas and we liked our decision to spend extra money for it. Our fridge was restocked daily with what we asked for (to our liking). Our room was always very clean. Food experience overall was good. Selection and presentation of food was very nice. It was impossible to try all that was there. Breakfasts and lunches we enjoyed the most. We chose the buffet style for the convenience of it. Javier remembered how we take our cafes accompanied with Mimosas. It was very nice of him. The only disadvantage with all the dinners being ‘a la carte’ service is waiting and not getting exactly what was ordered; don’t like surprises while dining. Nature Bar is definitely place to visit, we recommend it. My husband enjoyed sipping margaritas and tequilas. I found one I liked, but not every bar could make passion fruit margarita. Tequila has unique flavor, either you like it or you don’t. Ask Luis to help you find drink you will enjoy drinking while on the beach. Week went by too quick. We already book our next trip to Beloved for October 29th this year. Thank you all for such nice and relaxing vacation experience. We were loved in Beloved.
"Felt very loved!"
My husband and I had an incredible trip to Beloved. From the first moment to the last, the service was incredible. They told us to let us know if we needed anything, and they meant it. When we mentioned a desire, they went above expectations to provide. We thoroughly enjoyed the Isla Grill (especially the table on the ledge over the pool), the bike tour, Hobie cat sailing, black jack, ping pong, and deluxe loungers by the pool and beach. The hostesses and servers were extremely friendly and warm. The guests tended to be very friendly as well. We had a junior suite and it was incredibly nice. The tub with a great view was a bonus.
"Beautiful boutique resort"
Recently returned from Beloved Playa Mujeres and we were very impressed. This resort is a quaint, impeccably clean property! This hotel is small with only 109 rooms. You almost feel like you are there by yourself. We thoroughly enjoyed the peaceful and serene setting. There are only 4 restaurants with a heavy emphasis on seafood. Three of the restaurants do offer more than seafood and each has a vegetarian menu. The food is very good and my wife enjoyed the lobster which always available. The staff works very hard and we were totally taken care of. Our room was very cool and this hotel had the hottest water we have ever experienced in 10 trips to Mexico. We would like to thank some amazing staff members...including Carmen in housekeeping, Antonio and Juan at Aroma, Juan at the pool bar, Christian and Mary at Isla grill, Jenny and Freddy at check in/out. We would like to thank Griselda and Elizeht at the spa. Our couples massage was divine. There's folks work so hard to please their guest! This is our 3rd visit to an Excellence property and we will definitely be back!
