"Sophistication and Relaxation"
The Chedi is a beautiful hotel and an ideal choice for couples who are looking to spend a few days discovering Muscat’s delights. Oman is a country which is making progress in competing with The UAE In the Arabian tourist market. It is a quiet hotel with few facilities for children but the pools are fabulous and the rooms are comfortable with more than adequate facilities. Food and drink is expensive so my tip would be to try to negotiate half board or all inclusive terms. The standard of service is par excellence. Very friendly and professional staff in all departments. A most enjoyable stay in a lovely, scenic and sophisticated city. Stuart Ross
"Really poor "early check in" service - Do not show up before 14.00"
My girlfriend and I checked in at the hotel today at around 08.30 in the morning after our ~10 hour flight from Copenhagen, Denmark. The hotel is beautiful and has a great location. We had been looking very much forward to our stay. The cost is really high so I would expect really high service. We were however met by a really frustrating welcome, as we have not been allowed anywhere except the brunch restaurant in the hotel - until 14.00. We do not wish to get our room early, we would simply like to just wait at the beach, pool or somewhere else - like any other hotel would typically suggest. They don't even come up with alternative suggestions like the beach nearby or a walking route, while waiting. That's not my normal experience with 5 star hotels. It's rather frustrating after having paid several thousand euro for a 6 day stay, to be welcomed with a "please wait for 5 hours before you can be allowed in". We are not even allowed to simply walk to the hotel beach and wait there. I rarely write these reviews, but this is the first time I've experienced a welcome service like this so I just wanted to share with anyone else considering this hotel - in particular if you were planning to show before 14.00. I do not know if the rest of the experience will be similar to this, but I have never had a similar experience when checking into a 5 star hotel. PS: If you do show up before 14, I can recommend a beach around 2 km from the hotel, where you can relax while waiting. PS 2: The hotel has yet to show if this is a sign of poor service all the way through. I hope not. However this welcome was extremely disappointing, given the price and alleged service level of the hotel.
"Impeccable hotel maintaining the true spirit of Oman"
This was our second visit to the Chedi in a country holding a special place in our hearts; we lived and worked in Muscat in the days before tourists were allowed in the country and fell in love with the stark beauty of the scenery, the gentleness and welcoming nature of the Omanis, and the rich culture and history. The Chedi holds true to its promise of being an oasis in a city that is in danger of falling prey to high rise, chain hotels. The site covers a large area of 2 storey traditionally styled buildings in beautifully manicured gardens, 3 wonderful pools all spaced well apart, so that none are ever crowded, and a private beach. Service at every turn is exemplary, from the housekeeping staff to the management, everyone has a smiling greeting, and is quietly efficient in whatever their role. The food is excellent, with a variety of options throughout the day for dining or snacking in one of the restaurants. We had a wonderfully relaxing holiday; I cannot recommend it highly enough. See you again Chedi!
"Relax and Enjoy"
The Chedi Hotel in Muscat is a little slice of heaven on the beach. The architecture is spectacularly blended into the beach side. Each room is beautifully appointed. The food here is 5 star as is the service. The property is an oasis of relaxation after a busy day of sightseeing. It is perfect for couples as well as families with a family pool, easy access to the beach, and a long span of grass. The chefs are top notch and the food is delicious. The service is attentive and every staff member is willing to provide you whatever you need. the spa is heavenly. Throughout Oman as we ran into people during our two week stay, everyone of us that stayed at the Chedi, agreed -- the property is memorable, not only for its architecture and beachfront, but for its attention to every detail and its dedicated staff. Thank you!
The Chedi, is by far the best hotel I’ve ever stayed at in terms of customer experience. Everything-rooms, grounds, food and staff were incredible. I’d also, highly recommend Oman to anyone; such a wonderfully country! The only minor downside is that we brought our young son and it wasn’t really that child friend.......but I don’t think it’s meant to be. They made a massive effort for him but we did feel he was distributing some of the other guests; totally our mistake.......I wouldn’t take a young child again
