"Poor service, noisy location...we won't be back"
The room was clean and the view was nice, but the positives stop there. For the money we spent (over $700 in less than 24 hours), I expected impeccable service (like I get when I pay spend the same amount at Four Seasons or Ritz-Carlton), but the staff at Fairmont Miramar were inattentive and disinterested. From the unbearably slow bar service at both the lobby and the pool, to the pool attendant who didn't seem very interested in providing any service whatsoever, to the staff at Fig who didn't pick up one of our four phone calls for reservations....service was just very poor all around (except for the breakfast waiter, that guy rocked). And though we had a nice view, we couldn't enjoy our balcony due to the thundering noise of the club on the hotel grounds, which lasted until 2AM. With Loews and Shutters just down the street, we will not be returning.
At the restaurant Fig we had a delicious happy hour meeting. The drinks and most of the food selections are half price!! Everything was lovely, the decor , the food and service was outstanding! Will certainly bring back anyone who visits LA.
"Beautiful hotel in a beautiful location"
Although this hotel is beautiful and is in a beautiful and convenient location, our room was not. It was located on the 1st floor and right along 2nd Avenue. Directly across from The Huntley. You can read on here about that hotel and how terrible it is since one of the city's hottest nightclubs is in the penthouse. So when we arrived on Friday night, the noise of the partiers was endless and into Saturday night as well. Thankfully we had earplugs - although the noise could not effectively be drowned out. Not only that, but right outside our window is a small brick wall where an endless stream of people, mostly hotel workers, night and day, sat and chatted to each other or on phones. It was as though we had these people in our room with us. Just bizarre. I am certain that they would realize that they were right outside someone's hotel room - but did not seem to care. There is a beautiful pool with a hot tub outside but the sitting area around it is quite crowded and small. There are yoga and other fitness classes included with your resort fee (1 class per room per day) and they are okay. We did 2 yoga classes and the "Chill" one had the instructor get us into strange "restorative" positions and then proceed to walk over close to me and text on her cell phone. It was incredibly distracting, not at all restorative and when I told the front desk staff on check out she seemed to marginally care, but still charged us for the extra class. Overall, I would say that it is a nice hotel with nice amenities but be careful where your room is!
Santa Monica is the perfect city to stay when visiting Los Angeles. The Fairmont is a large hotel with beautiful views of the Ocean and walking distance to shops, restaurants and the Pier. The restaurant inside the hotel Fig was great for lunch n coffee. The pool was not too hot or cold. The jacuzzi was very hot! Lots of seating in the lobby and fun people watching. We had a suite with all the necessary amenities we could ask for. I would stay here again.
"Such a beautiful location and the staff are wonderful!"
The hotel is in a great location. It's always busy and alive. The food is amazing and the staff are wonderful. Kirk on the Concierge Desk is fabulous and so knowledgeable. Cherish and Juanita in the lobby bar/restaurant/pool are so attentive and hard working and you can see that they all love their jobs.
