Excellent location and a very friendly and helpful staff. This is a popular and busy hotel, but there is plenty of staff and all needs are easily handled. Their free bike rental was as smooth as we've ever experienced; we were fitted an on our way in less than three minutes. Our room was recently renovated and beautiful. Special thanks to the hotel's superb GM for his assistance. We were very happy with our experience here.
Awful experience. Ignored my request to have a crib in the room (took multiple calls to resolve). Drilling just outside the room all Saturday afternoon. Finally, at 8:00, I called and asked it to stop. 45 minutes later, still drilling. Called again and finally it stopped. Food served at restaurant came cold, waiter gave me attitude when I asked for it to be warmed. My wife wanted to visit the Bungalow outside but, despite being hotel guests, they wouldn't let us in. For what they're charging, recommend staying at Shutters down the street.
"Cockroaches, broken A/C, broken bathtub, constant noise. Worst Hotel ever."
I stayed here from August 10 to September 2 with my wife. Our house was flooded and so we quickly had to find a place to stay, however I wished we had stayed in our house, as it would have been a better experience than this hotel. In our first room we had rampant cockroaches and a crack in the bathtub. How can a 4 star hotel have cockroaches is beyond me!!! The second room..broken A/C in the LA heat wave, and then there is the constant noise from the Bungalow nearby. Worst part, no refund of the over $10,000 we spent at this hotel. Will never come back.
Hotel is well situated close to the Beach, Pier and Third Street Promenade. Despite getting a "Deluxe" room, room was small, bathroom unusable except for 1 person at a time. Much smaller accommodations than other Fairmont properties we have stayed at. Staff is professional and friendly, but room was tired and in need of updating. Not a good value for the price.
"Is this a hotel or night club' Which is it'"
So I stayed here for 2 nights. While the staff were accomodating it was a cluster mess. Night 1 - they decided to close the pool at 3pm for a hotel function. This made a lot of guests mad and rightfully so. When you are paying almost $500 a night I think a guest is more important. It wasn't just me that was upset other guests were angry. I talked to conceirge about this and they said a manager would call me. Nope, no call. Then the same lady recongnized me and said did they call you' I said no. So she went out of her way to get me a $50 credit and late checkout. But here's the worst thing - the nightclub. I just don't get it. Why would you have a hotel and a nightclub that clearly will annoy your high paying guests. I even was talking with house keeping who said ya this will go on till 2am and we don't get it either it annoys guests. So your own staff know and are aware of the issue. Blaring music and bass. So who's more important your nightclub or guests that pay you well over $500 a night'' I guess the night club. Not impressed at all. You know did it eve occur to you that your guests may want to sleep at night' I'm just baffled. Then top that off I was suppose to have a $100 credit but someone charged a major breakfast to my room instead of there's. Apparently it was a mistake. I could let that slide but had I not checked with them about how much credit I had left I would have been billed for it. Ridiculous. Pretty bad for a Fairmont. The nightclub' Ya biggest reason I will NEVER return.
