"BE WARNED ABOUT THE KALA SAMUI"
Review of Kala Samui My family booked the Presidential Suite at the Kala Samui on the 28/05/17 for ten days as we were attending a family wedding at this hotel. The reviews looked very good and we were looking forward to staying there. However on arrival the hotel did not live up to our expectations in any way. Firstly the amount of steps and steepness of them to go to any part of the hotel would be more suited to a mountaineering training camp. The whole hotel is tired and no more than a three star at best. We were shown to our room and again tired and very disappointing , it needed completely redecorating inside and out. The sun beds provided on our terrace were filthy and the mattresses were disgusting. The room had little or no wardrobe space and the whole area felt depressing. The hotels facilities were as bad the bar had no shade or comfortable chairs and restaurant area was extremely basic. The pool area was tightly packed and had the same issue with dirty sun beds and mattresses. Other guests that had the misfortune of staying at this hotel had numerous problems with getting there rooms serviced ,no hot water , always having to ask for toilet rolls and numerous power cuts. The swimming pool water was very cloudy indicating that it was in urgent need of a clean. The decking area nearest to the sea is very dangerous as the handrails are either missing or in a terrible state. There is no beach at this hotel and the only way to get to one is by Kayak or Taxi. My two daughters are in their twenties and were in tears when they seen the state of this hotel and its facilities. I immediately asked for a refund as we did not wish to stay in this hotel as it had been misrepresented online and it was not good enough , it went nowhere near meeting our expectations or its star rating. I went to reception and politely told the front office manager that we wanted a refund and would not be staying this was promised in writing to me within 21 days and has not happened which is alarming as I paid them 50% as a deposit six months before our trip and the balance in full a week before we arrived all by bank transfer. This was a big mistake and had I paid by credit card I wouldn't be in this situation now as I would have claimed the money back from the card company , so please take advise and only pay these people by card. I had to pay for and move to the Sheraton hotel about five minutes away toward Chewang beach this hotel was excellent in every way and worked out £700 less for our rooms than the Kala Samui I couldn't believe it ! My advice is that if you are thinking of going to Koh Samui avoid the Kala as it is substandard and the management are dishonest , I am fighting to get my money back to this day and find this whole episode of doing business with this hotel distressing. One thing I should mention is that the staff at the hotel all were very pleasant and helpful but there were not enough of them and judging by the comments of people we knew that stayed there this hotel has a feeling it is underfunded and on the brink of going under financially ! I have emailed the owner and the financial controller numerous times and been ignored it's probably because they are too busy fighting off bankruptcy. Please do not waste your money on this terrible place as it is not fit for purpose only maybe as a young offenders institute. To this date 11/07/17 I still have not been refunded and I am now taking matters further to recover my money. In all this place and it's senior management suck and they deserve to go under financially. Andy Whitemore
"Amazing stay! "
We booked the hotel very last minute (morning of) and the staff was very accommodating. The hotel is small but quaint. The staff is AMAZING and so friendly. The resort is gorgeous and rooms are so clean. The spa was perfect and the food was delicious. I highly recommend this resort for any occasion. The views from the infinity pool incredible!
"In Awwww with the place"
Words will never be enough to rate The Kala. 1 thing that still remains in my mind is the view they offer from every rooms.We booked just a base category room and still had the most amazing sea view on offer. Hotel has a nice rustic feel to it and have maintained it quite beautifully all over their resort Rooms itself are quite mesmerizing with beds facing the sea,bathrooms quite royally made up,beds and linens done up quite satisfactory.our stay was just amazing. Restaurant also serves very good world wide cuisine for both veg and non veg people. Pool is one of the best i have seen and also right near the sea. kayaking and scuba at the resort is a complete must. and please donot forget to see the sunsets from your room.mind blowing. staff is quite helpfull and understand english quite well. KEEP IN MIND.QUITE A FEW STEPS TO GO DOWN AND COME UP ALL OVER TGE RESORT the kala is definative must go in koh samui.
"Friendly frontdesk, worn out hotel, worst housekeeping"
We are checking out today, great friendly frontdesk. Especially Cho! However, this hotel is worn out. Room : Lights are not working. Curtainhooks are loose. Bathroomdoor doesn't lock. Winebar doesn't work. A/C makes a hell of a noise. Toiletseat with urine-stains. TV with only 1 english Channel, Total of 4 channels. Minibar is leaking water inside. Housekeeping : we have stayed 7 nights. Not once they have changed the sheets! It's like housekeeping refuses to clean toilet and sink. Housekeeping threw away 2 unopened bags of potatoechips, 4 bottles of coke. This is the worst housekeeping I've ever experienced. Pool : there are only 12 beds available. Other guests leave theorie towels on the beds, so no one else is able to use it. Staff should act on this...it's a shame. Generaal : hotel has friendly staff, but it is time for a make over.

What can I say' The bad is its away from all the night life . It takes about 40 minutes to get there from the airport . That's it. Nothing else bad . So, if you're not picky like me , those two things are a very small amount of bad . The rooms are great! Amazing view! Friendly staff . The infinite pool was amazing . Huge bath tub . Big shower . When you book , make sure you book WITH breakfast . Omg the breakfast was great! A la carte , you can eat as much as you like. The poached eggs were perfect . Chicken yaki soba .. Coffee was great .. Fruit plate .. Omg I could go on and on ... The best thing about the breakfast is it goes until 6pm ... Yes, 6 pm! I will be back for sure , thank you very much Kala .
