"IT WAS NICE"
We stayed here for 5 nights. We arrived early for check in but was shown to a room to change in so we could spend our waiting time at the pool. Nice pool, not many loungers, with nice sea views. There are lots of stairs throughout the hotel, stairs to the pool, down to the sea if you go kayaking, stairs to restaurant & reception, hard work sometimes in the heat. It's right on a main road with nothing close by, you need a scooter or taxi to get about 15 mins away either side to Chewang or Lamai. We hired a scooter through the hotel. Room was ok decent size, rustic style bathroom with not great lighting, but shower was nice, nice seaview from balcony. Couldn't find any coffee in the morning to make in the room. Breakfast was ok, cooked to order, with a small buffet style selection of juice, toast fruit etc... Didn't have much interaction with the staff, some smiled some didn't, nice guy (tall) at breakfast, he was always pleasant and polite. Food in the restaurant was expensive, we ate here on our first night, one dish we ordered was chicken with mushrooms, arrived without the mushrooms so we sent it back. We took kayak out one day, the guy who seen to us wasn't very friendly, like we had disturbed him & he was annoyed. Anyway the water has lots of rocks to navigate through to get to small beach. Quiet location which we like, apart from main road but that didn't affect us.
"Extremely pleased! "
We are so pleased we chose to stay here on our first visit to Koh samui! The staff here are excellent and attended to our needs promptly; the spa is so relaxing; and the property is so well kept! Upon arrival, we were given nice, refreshing drinks at reception. The hotel looks so much like what the photos on their website said, and the view from our room was spectacular, especially at sunrise! We stayed for four nights and enjoyed taking the complimentary shuttle to Chaweng area. Unfortunately, due to the rain, we didn't go to other places like the tour that they provided. I enjoyed the spa treatments tremendously - even though I paid a bit more, it's well worth it as 'Add' (massage therapist)was so good at body and foot massage and Dao, the lady at the spa reception was very friendly and nice. We had such a relaxing stay... Thank you so much, Kala Samui and staff... We will be back (hopefully to help you celebrate your 10th anniversary!) 😊😊
Amazing views, lovely hotel, quiet with a nice pool. Free kayak & snorkelling. It's about 15 minutes in taxi to main resorts but there are nice restaurants and a supermarket nearby. Huge bath, staff are helpful
"Amazing resort and incredibly friendly staff"
My girlfriend and I stayed at The Kala for the last two nights of what was 3 months of travelling of Australia and SE Asia. We booked a duplex villa with a pool but on arrival the really friendly staff upgraded us to a family villa with infinity pool- it was like nothing we had ever seen before, the height of luxury. The villa itself was absolutely spotless with an amazing view out to sea from pretty much every room. Unfortunately the day we got there, my girlfriend fell over and broke her wrist. However we would like to say a massive thank you to the Kala staff who immediately rang for an ambulance and even came to pick us up from the hospital later that evening. On our return to the hotel around 10pm, we were greeted with sandwiches and a basket full of fresh fruit which was also an amazingly kind gesture. Throughout our stay the staff really couldn't do enough for us and a lady named Au was particularly kind, water-proofing my girlfriend's cast and delivering her flowers for good luck in her recovery. The day we were due to fly home, a man from the hotel also drove us to the airport free of charge and we were given a voucher for a night's stay if we were to return to Koh Samui. Overall, we could not rate the Kala's facilities, food and it's staff highly enough and would definitely recommend it to anyone considering staying here. Thank you for making our stay so special.
"Incredible views, lovely room."
The Kala Samui is a beautiful hotel and with amazing views. Lots of stairs to navigate but if you have no mobility issue, then this shouldn't be a problem. Great pool service with the barman always eager to please and serving up delicious poolside cocktails each day. The location is a little out of the way if you don't have transport but we hired a moped from the hotel reception and had no problems getting around after that. Our room was beautiful overlooking the pool and the bay, the only part that was a little unsightly was behind the room when you came up the stairs you looked over a lot of power lines which came quite close to the building. Otherwise great stay with friendly staff. Nice breakfast each day too.
