"A Fine Hotel in a downtown LA Location"
I was booked here for five nights as part of a tour of L.A. It was a very comfortable hotel with an elegant, rather mid-century (20th century) vibe. The restaurant offers a limited but very elegantly served and tasty menu with good service. The staff was pleasant and helpful. The primary caveat is the location - downtown LA is still somewhat underdeveloped as an after hours community and I would not feel safe walking around after dark (and indeed was warned not to do so). There are some good restaurants that you can walk to down the street or via the pedways but the immediate neighborhood is not (yet) great for wandering around (note: this comment is from a Boston/New York native, who doesn't drive much!). During the day, however, you can easily get to all the glories of downtown, such as the Disney Hall, various museums, the farmers' market, and a DASH metropolitan bus stop is nearby. Make sure to ask the hotel staff for a map of the pedways which connect the hotel to various other buildings.
"Great service, beautiful hotel"
Donna at the front desk was fantastic. She was helpful, upbeat, and welcoming. The hotel is gorgeous. The rooms are spacious and comfortable. The lobby is chill and clean. Everything seems very well done and professional, and the bar is great. Love it here. Highly recommend.
"Nice location, comfort and service"
We stayed here just one night to attend an opera at RECAT in the Disney Center. The hotel was easily reached via the 10 from Palm Springs, and our car was quickly valet parked. We arrived early and were accommodated without the common lecture that check-in time is 3 PM! The vast lobby is welcoming with instant access to an open bar and restaurant. There is a lobby gift shop with an unusually large array of over-priced goodies. Our fourth floor room (405) was a hike from the elevator, but large and comfortable with a firm king bed and a view onto highway ramps--but the noise was abated by double-glazed windows. The bathroom was large and featured a good-sized shower but no bath-tub, which is fine with us, but a hand-held attachment would have been nice. The room also featured a large flat-screen TV with good selection of cable channels and a small refrigerator, but no mini-bar. Breakfast in the lobby restaurant was good with excellent, friendly service.
We enjoyed everything about this hotel. The room was large, with floor-to-ceiling windows offering fabulous views of downtown. The beds were comfy and the roomy bathroom was modern and clean. Everything about this place was modern and clean. The staff, from the reception desk to housekeeping to the car valets, was friendly and accommodating. The location was perfect ... we walked everywhere! We will definitely stay here again.
"I wouldn’t go back"
The room was a decent size and reasonably comfortable. The decor was fine, but in exciting. The location is OK, but it’s kind of on the edge of the city and not exactly central. Also, parking was an extra $40 a day. The gym was pretty nice and had good equipment and nice large windows. We left the hotel in the morning and when we came back in the early evening, the room had not been cleaned. When we called the front desk, we were told that the housekeeping staff would not be able to clean the room that night and they were very sorry. That’s it. Sorry. Nothing more. We spoke to the manager in the morning when we left and again he offered nothing more than an apology. He then agreed to pay for our breakfast, which, quite frankly was the least they could do and the food was not great.
