Firstly, I'm a big fan of The Laguna. I think it's an excellent hotel with excellent facilities. Which is why we've booked with them again for a holiday next year. However, we're very disappointed with their lack of response to numerous emails, FB posts and even a direct mail to a manager there a Mr Wandira. The reservation number doesn't pick up either and given I'm traveling with work I'm really dependent on emails. Simple things like requesting an airport pickup and having rooms side by side are seemingly things that The Laguna oddly ignores these days. Hopefully this as a last resort will get someone somewhere at The Laguna's attention and after a response to my emails I can remove this poor review of what I'm hoping isn't the sign of hotel management gone bad.
We have stayed twice at the Laguna and must say it is exceptional. Although Nusa dua can be considered as isolated from the action in Bali Laguna's position on the beach front is the best. There is no shortage of choice with regards to pools, restuarants & eateries, it has a fully equipped modern gym & a luxurious spa. But what sets it apart is the staff. They are all cheerful & do not hesitate to assist you in any way to ensure that your stay is pleasurable. I want to make mention of our butler Tom (Sutama). He remembered us from our last stay which added a personal touch to the resort . He was always responsive to our needs and requirements and did so with a smile on his face. Most above all he was the nicest guy you could ever meet and we believe he is a great asset to the resort. We will definitely be there next year and look forward to catching up with our dear friend Tom .
"Paradise in Paradise"
Hotel buildings surrounded by beautiful idylic gardens and pools. The hotel adjoins the sandy beach. We were upgraded to a huge family suite of 5 rooms and two terraces which was great for the family, Food was of a high quality and no Bali Belly so that was an extra plus point. The staff are capable and helpful and friendly. They had local fire dancing and a religious ceremony to allow visitors to experience more than the hotel.
"If its Bali .. Either on work or with family ... It has to the Laguna !"
We had been to the Laguna from the 15th to 18th June 2017 on a business conference - The experience was just wow ! RIght from the check in to the check out - Everything was seamless .. More importantly the attitude of each staff we encountered was of a very helpful nature. The property is well spread out with the relaxing restaurant over looking the beach.. The food was classy with all cuisines thrown in. The evenings and early mornings by the beach makes the mind calm and relaxing. The rooms are just 2-3 minutes from the beach side (which is almost like a private beach) with well laid out beach chairs and canopies. The rooms are just about perfect with well timed services as well.. For the business conference we had, the conference room could easily fit in over 200 people both for the morning conference and evening gala dinner.. Overall a great experience and a must for a family holiday or a business conference !
"Wonderful gardens and beach front location but a few shortcomings..."
My wife and I stayed for 9 nights at the Laguna. We were very impressed by the beautiful gardens and lagoons as well as the beach front location. We enjoyed the excellent services of the Spa 3 times during our stay and the reception staff and therapists were both welcoming and professional. We had chosen a Deluxe Laguna access room (105) but this was at the north end of the resort (reception end) and we were disappointed with the small balcony and did not really use the "just dip into the pool from your room" Laguna access benefit. The room was quite dated and in need of modernisation and refresh and we experienced some problems with electrics, shower curtain and telephone not working but all of these problems were rectified within a reasonable time once reported. The room cleaning often missed certain items which required further telephone calls which was frustrating. We enjoyed the Kulkul bar at the beachfront for drinks, cocktails and lunches and our favourite restaurant was Arwana where we enjoyed the Gastronomic Dinner with wine tasting (outstanding evening) and also booked and enjoyed the fisherman's buffet/BBQ. We had a poor experience of the Banyubiru, the main resort restaurant. We found certain staff inattentive and at times lazy (this needs management Training) walking past dirty tables and just getting distracted and forgetting our drinks/wine order. Overall the cost of food and drink can prove expensive and we noticed the restaurants and bars were far from full each evening as many diners chose to visit and eat across the road at the Bali Connection (shops and 20 restaurants) as prices were very competitive there. Perhaps if prices were more competitive at the Laguna more guests would stay in resort' Be aware this is a Business Conference hotel and can get busy and noisy at times. The beach was very good with an array of water sports (try paddle boarding which is great fun). It can be windy and there are many beach pedlars who become annoying by constantly interrupting you (can this not be controlled'). You can order drinks and snacks from your sun bed which was a nice service! The main swimming pool was excellent too but we found too many sun beds "reserved" by inconsiderate guests who then never appeared for several hours to use them. Having complained about this practice no change was observed unfortunately. We left with fond memories of the Laguna after a restful stay but we both agreed that the shortcomings need to be addressed to make it a "Luxury Resort" and entice us back again. We had the opportunity to share both our positive comments and need for improvement feedback with Lucia the General Manager and were assured these were noted and "in progress" for improvement. It is a very good resort but not yet an excellent resort based on our honest experience.
