"World class comfort and service"
An excellent experience. Hotel accommodations are top notch. All staff is extremely courteous and friendly. We spent 4 nights and 5 days for a Busines hosting one of our key clients. Check in was quick and accurate. While not needed or requested, They escorted me to the elevator and explained how to use the room key to access floors. The suites was beautiful with fantastic views, comfortable couch and bed. Nice dressing area and bathroom suite with garden tub and walk-in shower. Breakfast is fantastic with a very large buffet. Pretty pool and spa as well. Make sure to take advantage of their ferry service (included) across river. Finally, there is 220v and 110v electric in the rooms - no need for converter or adapter. Pricing is premium, but very reasonable due to the exchange rates.
"A wonderful experience"
Due to a last minute change in plans we were able to obtain an absolutely fantastic deal for a river-view suite at the Peninsula in September. We jumped at the opportunity as we had always wanted to stay here. And we were not disappointed. Check-in was fast and courteous. Our suite was all we expected it to be - spacious, beautifully decorated and appointed with a comfortable bed and excellent bathroom. The linens and bathroom amenities were top quality. However, I must agree with some earlier reviews that a coffee maker and a larger supply of tea bags would be a good idea. We loved our view over the river and also the breakfast restaurant just on the river-bank. The buffet was excellent, as expected, but what make it stand out was the service we received from the ever-friendly and helpful staff. There were no long waits for tea or coffee here, as is frequently the case in some other 5 star hotels along the river. The pool was great and the staff made sure that children who could not swim were taken to the children's corner, leaving the large pool for adults wanting to swim laps. We also appreciated the fact that this part of the pool was a quiet area, something the staff also paid attention to. There were plenty of loungers, towels and cabanas. We also tried the Thai restaurant with good food and service. The Peninsula is most definitely a grand hotel with charm and atmosphere. We enjoyed our stay immensely and hope to return.
"Good beginning...Lousy ending"
Room 3510. Nice room with a good river view. This is a classic, well appointed luxury hotel. Some of the technology in the room was dated, but functional. Technological change makes it difficult to stay current. The staff was solicitous and helpful. With that being said, our departure to the airport was marred by the fact that despite indicating to Peninsula staff multiple times, where we were going, and to which airport we needed to leave from, our taxi driver delivered us to the wrong airport (there are two in Bangkok). We asked the staff to tell the driver where to take us. Needless to say this mistake caused us to pay two taxi fares and nearly miss our flight. Unfortunately, such a mistake left us with a poor opinion of the hotel. We’re not really upset, but annoyed enough to go back to the Mandarin Oriental when we return to Bangkok. They have never disappointed us.
We stayed at the Peninsula for 3 nights and loved every minute! Our room was large with an amazing bathroom, and the view over the water was incredible! The service at check in and our stateroom service was impeccable. The pool area was beautiful and very relaxing. There are also many cabanas that are available for use. I would suggest you try Thiptara restaurant, it's next to the water and the food is amazing! We also spent time in the bar at the hotel and the drinks were great, service, once again, magnificent! If you're headed to Bangkok, this is the hotel to stay at. We will be back!
"Amazing hotel on the river!"
My sister and I just spent two nights at the Peninsula Bangkok and it exceeded all expectations! The hotel and grounds are sophisticated and impeccably clean. Our twin deluxe room was huge, with sitting area, foyer, dressing area, and large bathroom with double sinks. The best part was the large, gorgeous river view, especially at night! The staff at the hotel--from check-in to concierge to the Riverfront Cafe and pool bar waitstaff--were incredibly warm, attentive, and accommodated our every request with a smile. We also took the hotel's sunset cocktail cruise which was a fun way to see Bangkok by night. The one thing to be aware of is the hotel is on the opposite side of the river from some of the city's main attractions (Grand Palace, etc). But easy enough to get to as the hotel has a free water taxi that can easily take you to the public pier. Hotel staff are also happy to arrange a taxi anywhere in the city. We were sad to leave this wonderful hotel!
