Stayed at the plaza while on a sightseeing weekend to New York. We loved it! The location was perfect for us, right on Central Park and close enough to walk to a lot of the big sights (the only time we didn't walk was when we were going downtown). The rooms are lovely and spacious. Toiletries were plentiful and of a high standard. We ordered room service breakfast one day and it was delicious. The food hall downstairs in the hotel was a nice surprise and we ended up eating in there a few times. Lots of choice and a nice quick option when you have a busy itinerary! A few niggles we had which we didn't expect at the plaza - One day housekeeping did not attend our room, despite us being out the whole day for 8am-4.30pm. They knocked our door at around 5pm to make up the room but at this point we were getting ready so this was not a good time for us! I expected the room to have already been made up when we arrived back at the hotel. On our second day we were planning to have breakfast in the hotel restaurant - as we were jet lagged we were up fairly early so phoned to see what time the restaurant opened. We were told 6.30am. When we went down at around 6.35am we were left unattended for about 5 mins and eventually asked a member of staff if we could order breakfast. We were then told quite abruptly that the restaurant didn't open until 7am. Again, this is a silly mistake but I not one I expected at the plaza! We ended up going out for breakfast elsewhere. All in all I would advise we loved this hotel and would definitely book again if we return to NYC.
"Best Hotel in New York"
This hotel is the best in New York. It is in a perfect location, has many amenities, and is extremely luxurious. The lobby is grand, and when you walk in, you have a feeling that the hotel is luxurious. The rooms are very clean and are controlled by iPads. They are also very quiet and the ceilings are very high. The Plaza is not your average hotel, you feeI more like you are in a mansion than a hotel. I would recommend this over any other hotel in the city. In the basement of the hotel, there is a huge food court with any type of food you could want. I plan on going back to this hotel soon.
"The Plaza: our home away from home in NYC"
This was our second New York trip this year. This one was a combination of business and family. I had a business meeting with a long term client and also we brought our granddaughter up to the City for her 5th visit. She's eleven; a real tween. We got an upgrade to an Edwardian Suite. The room was fabulous. We were greeted by Eddie Spaghetti, the personal butler to Eloise, that elusive star of stage and screen, whom we have never been able to find with our granddaughter on our visits. Eddie remembered our granddaughter from our previous visits and off they went with her riding the luggage cart pushed by Eddie. We ate breakfast at the Palm Court every morning. Elvis was our server most mornings. The food and service were wonderful, as usual. After busy days shopping or visiting the Frick Collection and Dylan's Candy Bar and before the theater, we had "happy hour" in the cafe on the lobby floor at the Plaza. Happy hour for our granddaughter was lemonade, my wife had red wine and I had my usual Bellini, which I think is the best Bellini in the world (including Harry's Bar in Venice), as I told our server, Nick. Our housekeeping service was also wonderful. We taxed them this time because they had to make my granddaugher's bed up each night, turn the suite second room into a business meeting room for the day with coffee service and each night give our granddaughter (and me) milk and cookies. The staff was terrific. We didn't utilize the concierge staff as we usually do but Raul is always helpful as was Iliya who has now left for other ventures. All in all, a typically fabulous visit at the Plaza, our home away from home in New York. God willing, we'll be back soon.
"Perfect Visit to the Plaza"
Highly recommend staying here! Not only is the facility beautiful, but the customer service was exquisite. We loved our room and bathroom, as well. Our most memorable part of the stay was the interaction between our kids and the Head Bellman, Eddie. He made our stay an absolute blast. He was wonderful with the kids and made them feel so welcome. We all are so excited to return someday!
"New Years in New York "
Travelling to New York during the Christmas/New Year period was simply breath taking. We thought we'd make our visit even more special by staying at The Plaza and it certainly didn't disappoint. It's got a perfect location to wander around New York and sight see, also if you want to go a little further out the tube system is great and very frequent. The room was smaller than I expected but decorated very beautifully especially the bathroom with lots of gold detailing. Didn't really see any of the staff and every time I went to the reception desk it was a different person on the desk. The only thing the staff did for us was give me an umbrella when it was raining. I used the gym in the hotel a couple of times which was very hard to find through the lobby which was always crowded with tourists.
