"What a great hotel"
What great hotel, right in the middle of everything. Staff really friendly, rooms great size and decor. Eat in the restaurant a couple of nights great food at a good price. Will definitely be going back. Thanks to everyone at the Redbury for making our first trip to the big apple so enjoyable.
"Fantastic hotel and such a great location"
Stayed here for 10 nights and was absolutely delighted with this hotel, friendly staff at reception and the bellboys always helpful. We were on the 8th floor with a view of the Empire State Building from our room. We had a Standard Two Twins Room which was of a decent size (although wardrobe is quite small) with lovely compact bathroom, fully stocked with toiletries and plenty towels. A free bottle of wine from the hotel as I was celebrating a big birthday was a lovely surprise. Great location and enjoyed the short walk to Madison Square Park where you can get great coffee and pastries from the nearby Eataly - well worth a visit. A special mention to Alexandra the concierge who helped book a helicopter ride for me (no extra cost added on) and Sandra our housemaid who is an absolute asset to the hotel. She draped our blankets a different way each day and was such a happy kind woman who really went out her way to look after us. If you have an employee of the month award she should definitely receive it! Would love to come back again sometime.
"Nice location but not really customer friendly"
The location is great on East 29th Street. We stayed for seven nights in a standard room. The bed was comfortable, the bathroom newly renovated and fresh, and the cleaning ladies did their job very nicely. But the room was small, there was no room for placing the suitcases and the AC was noisy. Our room was pre-paid and the morning coffee was included in the price. One of us is a tea drinker, and when we fetched the coffee/tea, we were told that the tea would cost extra (!). As you check in, they swipe your credit card and charge a deposit of 50 $/night without informing you or asking if it´s OK, and you get no receit. When checking out, you are charged a resolution fee of 28 $/night plus taxes. They tried also to charge us for a number of items in the mini bar, although we never used anything in the bar. With no receits, no documentation, you are completlely in the hands of the staff in the reception. The breakfast for 20 $ is by no means worth the price. All in all, this is one of those Manhattan hotels that can afford to be rude to the customers. Because of the great location, there will always be people who are willing to accept the inconveniences and the not so pleasant treatment.
"Great location and cozy old hotel "
It's really great location. And we truly enjoyed the old fashion style. Rooms are small, but since we don't really spend a lot of time in the room in a city it was fine. Bathroom was nice and clean. The only reasons they don't get 5 stars are: - Aircondition. You get a chock when it starts and it woke us up several times during the night because of the noise. Has never stayed in a hotel with an a/c that noisy - duvet cover. There are only two separate sheets, and during the night you find yourself without the covers which means that 100s of people can have slept with the duvet without cover. Rather disgusting to think of. Coming from North Eurupe we like them sewed together so it's always clean and covers the duvet that other people have slept in. - and only one duvet' That is not really nice when you have ordered a double room. We asked for an extra sheet as cover the first night, but this was removed the following nights. We prefer our own duvet especially when it's so hot. But we will stay again.
"I love this Hotel!"
The property its self is stunning, the design stands out fantastically. The designs on every floor and entrance give it a real New York feel. The staff were great, intact they were incredible, very helpful, friendly and always willing to lend a hand regardless of what you asked them. The location, cleanliness, property, staff, room, bathroom/shower, WIFI, everything was 100%. I have stayed here twice now and will be back again. Wold highly recommend this hotel to anyone going to New York. you are literally 2 minute walk from the Empire State building. plus the free coffee in the morning is always a great start to the day! I didn't get the guys name but he looked after my luggage for 5 hours after I checked out to enjoy my last few hours in the city, he also got me a flat rate taxi to JFK as promised. I couldn't have asked for anything more. Thank you.
