"Everything a 5-star hotel should be"
Tokyo is a great city and you can find excellence at all price points in the city. However, if you're looking for what a 5-star experience should be, look no further than the Ritz Carlton Tokyo. Located in the Tokyo Midtown development in Roppongi, the hotel is convenient to the business area of Roppongi/Akasaka. However, the Roppongi metro stop can take you quickly anywhere in the city. Arriving by taxi from Tokyo Station (< 1500 yen), the bell staff quickly retrieved my luggage and escorted me to the elevator that would whisk me to the 45th floor where the lobby is located. He asked my name before pressing the floor button and whispered it into a headset he was wearing. Upon arriving to the floor, a staff member was waiting for me and greeted me by name and escorted me to the check-in counter. A quick check-in process but was told my room would only be ready in a short time. No problem for me, as I was early anyway and retreated to the nearby cafe where free coffee and tea are provided all day. By the time I had my coffee in my hand, the desk staff approached me to tell me that my room was ready (they offered to escort me to the room, but I was a repeat guest and knew the way). Baggage was delivered shortly thereafter. The rooms at the Ritz are HUGE, especially by Tokyo standards. A plush bed, a small sofa, and convenient work station are all present. An extra large (60"') LCD TV is present as well as a smaller one in the bath. For those that may get chilly in the room, a beautiful cashmere blanket is provided. One of those things you wish you could take home. The bathroom is also enormous. With two, nicely spaced apart vanities, a large bathtub, as well as a spacious stand-up shower. Asprey toiletries are provided. I know of Asprey as a prestigious jeweler and not a cosmetic company but the bath wash and shampoos were very nice. When I returned to the room after venturing out, a selection of pralines from the ground floor Ritz Carlton Deli were sitting on the desk. Delicious and beautiful. Also present was a wonderful handwritten card from the woman who had checked me in. More than just a "thank you for staying", it was more applicable to me specifically and was a very thoughtful touch. I am pretty knowledgable about Tokyo having spent considerable time there over the years but always check in about new and up and coming restaurants. The concierge staff at the RC was very helpful and provided a number of suggestions to me. I also inquired about purchasing the cashmere blanket mentioned earlier. Unfortunately, they do not sell them new although the staffperson did spend some time checking on that for me. I did not dine at the hotel this trip but I can tell you from past experience the cafe is excellent with a wide variety of western and asian selections. The lobby bar also has a wonderful selection of whiskies and even some unique wine selections. Unfortunately, my stay was only for one night and I was off early the following morning. This time, I took the (dreaded) "Friendly Limousine Bus" to Narita. While its nice to avoid needing to go to the train station and drag your luggage through that, the bus is not my favorite since the RC is the first stop it makes before stopping at 4-5 other hotels. You're driving around Roppongi/Akasaka for 45 minutes before you finally get on the expressway. It's not the fault of the hotel but I wish they could get on a different route. Of course a taxi is available but for $300 I avoid it. Haneda Airport is always preferable regardless. All in all, I love the Ritz Carlton Tokyo and look forward to my next visit there.
"Ritz-carlton Tokyo, thanks for making my first Tokyo trip so wonderful!"
Thanks Ritz-Carlton Tokyo for making my first trip to Tokyo so wonderful. Before arriving, I received email from Hotel Manager Masato checking whether I need any assistance, to make sure I have a pleasant stay, she and her team really did that. Stay in Modern Japanese Suite for 5 nights, a traditional Japanese home on 47th floor of hustling and bustling city of Tokyo. The room was really well designed and well-miantained. Our room have a great view of Tokyo Tower. Hotel in great area of Ropponggi, with walking distance have nice choices of restaurants. Metro and subway station just step away. Highly recommend this hotel to friends and family. I will definitely come back to Ritz-Carlton for my next visit to Tokyo. Arigato Gozaimasu!
"Amazing Stay !!!!!"
We had such an amazing stay !!! Everything was perfect, the room, the view, the amenities... The Staff made our stay UNFORGETTABLE ! A huge Thank you to Valter, who really charmed us. This why we choose Ritz Carlton !
"Incredible personal attention , Amazing staff"
We had the most amazing stay with my husband in Tokyo ! The hotel is just stunning ! The view of the city is spectacular but the most important is the service that we have received. The staff was always smiling and trying to accommodate us, it was our first time in Tokyo and it is true that we were overwhelmed by this huge city where everything goes so fast... We were lucky to meet Valter (who I believe was from Portugal or Spain) on our first day. He somehow made us directly feel better as he was very warm, he shared with us his love for the Japanese culture and gastronomy but also his passion for hospitality ! We were honestly amazed by every story he was telling us. Without this encounter our stay would have been surely been completely different. In our conversation we mentioned that we will be going to Kyoto, so he prepared for us a nice note with the most beautiful recommendation ! We had such an amazing time that we will never forget ! Thank you for everything... you made our stay !!!!!!
