"A tale of two halves...."
I've put off reviewing our experience because it was truly a tale of two halves. We booked a 2 night honeymoon package. It was halfway through our honeymoon in Bali and at £670 for 2 nights, was definitely the 'splurge' element of our visit, and -for us- a LOT of money. When we arrived - it took my breath away. It is truly a stunning location. The welcome from staff, with a blessing and freshly made cocktail was spot on. The villa was everything we hoped it would be and I couldn't stop myself smiling. We ate out that evening but returned and had a peaceful, relaxing and romantic drink overlooking the beach. Stunning. At this point, totally 5 star plus!! Day 2. There was a note in our room when we arrived saying there was a wedding booked in for the second day. Ok we thought, shouldn't be a problem. How wrong we were. We booked this hotel on the basis of the website info - seclusion, relaxing, comfort, romantic etc etc (which it certainly was on day 1). The wedding tho was for 260 - yes 260 guests. Which basically meant the whole resort was taken over. They were setting up the ceremony overlooking the beach as we had breakfast. Lunch was to the backdrop of the PA and band sound checking. Our 'romantic' Balinese massage took place in our villa - it's hard to channel inner peace and serenity with a PA system blaring out Ed Sheeran Shape of you in the background. Felt too uncomfortable to go for a swim in the pool afterwards as the ceremony was taking place. The reception took place on the grounds outside our villa - we had to ask guests to stop continually posing for photos on our steps. And then there was the noise of the reception party for the whole evening (and even the fireworks were dangerously located on the beach - my husband works with explosives so knows this for sure!) I have no issue with the wedding party having a clearly fabulous time, they paid for that! - it's just the impact it had on us on our only full day at the resort. The hotel management are very aware of our disappointment and to be fair did pay for our bar bill that evening, a set lunch the next day and transfer to our next hotel. But I think it's just the disappointment of having our proper splurge element of the honeymoon ruined, as we can't get that experience (or the money we spent on it) back. Our feedback was that they really should advise people if an event that big is booked - we could have re-jigged our dates if we'd known. Their reply was that they were concerned it might affect room bookings if they did. Sorry, but a wedding that big brings in so much revenue that you genuinely need to think of the customer experience of those expecting 'romantic seclusion' at a price which is pretty much our monthly mortgage payment for 2 nights. So would I recommend it' Based on day 1 - totally 110%. Based on day 2 - totally 0%. It may be partly our expectations of what we'd get. But I'd definitely check they don't have any events on during your stay!!
We were staying near to the Santrian and it was recommended as a place to have a drink or something to eat. IT IS AMAZING! The hotel is lovely. The staff are brilliant. Very attentive. They could not do enough for us. We ate there twice and the food was gorgeous. An amazing hotel.
From arrival until departure you get pampered all the way at this lovely boutique resort. On arrival a welcome drink with fresh ingredients is prepared in front of you, really lovely touch. You are greeted by name and all the staff we encountered remembered our name and room, bravo !! The villa itself is lovely, private and very large and maybe most important spotlessly clean !!! All the staf bend backwards to please all the guests, the best hotel we have stayed at yet! We will return !! Greetings, Jan and Marijke
This place was absolutely stunning. The view of the hotel did not do it justice. The service is exemplary and the accommodation is absolutely stunning. The villas are beautifully designed and the pools are much larger than you expect. The bed is absolutely huge and the bedding is nice and cool to get a goods nights rest. The outside shower is great as well as the indoor shower and bathroom. The grounds are well maintained and look picture perfect with stunning main pool. The ocean terrace is also beautifully placed with wonderful views of the water and is especially nice during the evening with the sea breeze. The daily breakfast is great and has a wide selection alongside with a daily special. Afternoon tea is lovely and all this can be had in your own private villas. The main restaurant has a very good selection of dishes to choose from for your evening meal. This is definitely a hotel I would recommend anyone wanting to come to stay in Bali. Absolutely amazing.
"A true paradise"
I don't write reviews that often but for the Royal Santrian I'm making an exception again. This boutique resort is an all villa resort with private pools. Upon arrival, you are being threated as royalty by all of the staff and while checking in a wonderfull welcome drink is prepared before you (not just pourred) All of the 22 Villas and the grounds are luxouriously and meticoulisly maintained. Throughout your stay, you are addressed by your name and well looked after by the very friendly staff. The mail infinity pool is marvelous and if you decide to not use your private villa pool, you will be escorted by the staff, your bed is being prepared and you are offered bottled water and fresh fruits. Of course, cocktails are also a possibility ;) In the morning you can choose where to take breakfast (in the villa or at the restaurant) Breakfast is a la carte and there is plenty of choice. You can order anytime, multiple times, all included in your stay. The constant high level of quality (food, grounds, service) is astonishing. This is truly heaven on earth. A warm thank you goes out to all of the staff, Mr Putra and Mr Yasa for a truly marvelous stay. We will definitly return in the future! PS: You should also try the Putri Santrian which is a sister hotel. It's a different price range but nevertheless spotless, our stay there was also very good! Regards J.Gezels
