"Good experience "
This is a different hotel than others. The have private apartments and bedrooms mixed with the hotel rooms. They have only 50 rooms offered as a hotel. This makes all the staff to have personal approach to everyone. The location is amazing, difficult to find a better one. I got a room with a modern setup, was very good. The bed and pillows were perfect. They offer great variety of amenities in the bathroom. In general the hotel offers you a perfect NY high end experience. It's very traditional, they even have guys operating the lifts! On the negative side, they don't have their own restaurant. The offer 20% discount at Harry Cipriani which us next door but the place is too formal. I tried to have breakfast after some workout outside but got rejected because you can't wear shorts... I think that for that money you have some other good options in the area but a visit to the sherry Netherland is a different kind of stay
"Sherry Netherland -Old world Charm , warm & exceptional service"
We stayed a Thursday through Sunday and the room and all staff were wonderful. Prompt service, very clean rooms, comfortable bed and great linens. Have stayed twice in the last 4 years - every once in awhile we try a different hotel...but come back here. Rooms are comfortable, quiet . We've stayed at the Surry and the MArk in between our stays at the Sherry....this hotel is much more comfortable.
We just returned from a 9 night stay in New York, all of which was spent at the Sherry Netherland. What a jewel of a hotel. This is classic, old world style and service, and from the moment you walk in the door you are transported to another era. It harkens back to an time when service really mattered, and when you were meant to feel special when staying at a grand hotel. You are not a room number here, you are welcome guests. This is not a huge hotel with hundreds of rooms and dozens of amenities, it is a residential building with a small number of hotel rooms, and this is what makes it feel so personal. Our one bedroom suite was impeccable. For a 9-night stay we had plenty of room to really “live like New Yorkers”. We had an interior suite, and the views are what you would expect, however at the end of the day, when you come in off the street and have had enough of the noise, sirens and people, you will find it a haven of peace and quiet. No regrets at all on the interior room. I will not repeat all of the superlatives in past reviews, but will just say that if you are a fan of great hotels, you will love this place. In addition to the beautiful surroundings and service, you are smack dab in the middle of many of the things you will want to see, and any of the others are within easy taxi or subway rides. We will be back.
The building itself is stunning, but add wonderful, spacious rooms and it can't be beat. Every staff member we encountered was very professional and friendly. Renee at the Front Desk was so nice to speak to. The various door men were very accommodating because of the awful traffic with UN Week. I was so happy to see Molton Brown products in the bathroom. The bathroom was spacious and the room was so quiet at night.
While you might say you want a room with a view, I can report that I had my best nights sleep ever in NYC in a "courtyard" room. Which basically means it's a large space created by the irregular shapes of the buildings and you don't even want to open the curtains to see it. HOWEVER, it's SO darn quiet! FWIW I was in room 1116 and the decor was lovely and the mattress was unusually comfortable. I'll definitely be back.
