The Waldorf Hilton is located in the Bloomsbury - Soho neighborhood of London, close to London Transport Museum, Trafalgar Square, and Covent Garden. Nearby points of interest also include London School of Economics and Political Science and St. Martin-in-the-Fields.
Set in the heart of London with immediate access to the West End. This is a typical Hilton, so rooms of a good standard and, for London, a decent size. The bar is small but the service is good and friendly. Breakfast is standard for a hotel - but good enough.Comment of B. John , United Kingdom the 2016-12-26
Terrific location. Great way to experience Britain!! Central location. Lots of theatre, culinary experiences, parks, shopping, and people watching. Easy walking from all the major sites without being touristy or too populated
"First Class Staff and Gorgeous Hotel!"
Stayed Sunday as it was walking distance from the Savoy (where I had a conference Monday) and I thoroughly enjoyed my stay! I arrived at 11;30am and decided to push my luck and try to check in. Dealt with Ferooz and he was so polite, welcoming and friendly- a real asset to the hotel! I recently hit gold HH status which he acknowledged right away, which was great (as I'm pretty excited about it- haha). He managed to get me a great room right away and one adjacent to the lift (I put this as preferred on my profile) He was an absolute gem! The rooms are beautifully decorated with retro black and white snaps, tasteful classic furniture and spotlessly clean. The TV was huge and the bed; very comfortable. The bathroom was also great too, brilliant light, deep bath, super powerful water pressure and There were loads of fluffy and huge towels! Me and my friend decided to dine in the Homage restaurant, Andrea was looking after us and she was really lovely, friendly and professional! Even though it was busy, every time she walked by she acknowledged us and she made time to have a little chat with us at the end! To be fair, all of the staff were really attentive. The restaurant was beautifully decorated and the main courses were gorgeous! The sirloin and asparagus were cooked to perfection! This stay was just about perfect! If I'm being really picky I could only pick up on a couple of little things ... the drinks took a little while to arrive during dinner (and after trying the delicious cocktails I was eager for another!) and the delivery of condiments took a little while too, I don't think this was down to the staff or service being slow because everyone seemed super busy. Last thing, I would have liked a bit more choice on the menu regarding the starters- there were loads of mouth watering mains but only a few starters and nothing really jumped out at us from the ones listed. We opted for the salmon and the duck starters in the end, which were good but didn't hit the spot. I understand that it's a super busy restaurant though so keeping the starter selection small, simple and tasty is probably the key to avoiding waits etc! Breakfast was also great! Food tasty and hot and A gentleman greeted and took my friends hot drinks order Right Away (just wish he offered me a juice but that's just me being lazy). I called down for a late check out Monday (again really pushing my luck!) And the polite lady who answered said I could check out at 1:30pm which was really the icing on the cake of a great stay! Please pass on my sincere thanks to Ferooz and Andrea for the first class service! Xx
"Good, but should be so much better"
We have stayed at The Waldorf many times over the years and I really cannot understand why Hilton do not bring this hotel right up to scratch. It is a beautiful building inside and out, in a fabulous location in arguably the best city in the world, and yet it is just not quite right. We stayed a couple of weeks ago. We upgraded to an executive room and had the use of the executive lounge which was all really nice. However, at breakfast in the lounge we had to draw their attention to the plates that were out, which were really greasy, you certainly would not have wanted to eat your breakfast off them. These were swiftly changed, but the following morning, exactly the same pile of greasy plates sat there. We had afternoon tea on our second day, but the service was excruciatingly slow. We waited 30 minutes for anything to happen, we were not offered drinks and no one came to check that everything was okay. When we came to check out, our bill was wrong, they had charged us for breakfast, which should have been included in the executive upgrade that we had paid for, it was rectified, but we were half expecting that the bill would be wrong. There were other issues and I realise that the hotel is a four star hotel, but you would still not expect to encounter these sort of issues. We had a lovely weekend, but I just cannot understand why this hotel is not a FANTASTIC 5 star!
The Waldorf is very well located - practically everything in central London is within a 20 minute walk (and the Tube is nearby anyway). Very close to the Strand and Covent Garden, providing great access to most theaters and restaurants. Hotel is very well cared for. Room was small, but nice enough. All of the services at the hotel were great but for the chambermaids. For some reason the chambermaids just struggled. We asked the chambermaid for an extra sheet for the bed since the duvet was very heavy (we removed it) - she left us the sheet but then took it the following morning (perhaps it was a different chambermaid). So we asked for another sheet and left a note the following day not to remove the extra sheet - the chambermaid did so anyway. We also noticed that the chambermaid kept taking our bath soap - did so every day. The chambermaid was pleasant enough, as was everyone, but she did not execute as did the desk staff, concierge, dining staff, etc.
"Beautiful Hotel, Great Servicev"
We spent 11 days at this London Hotel on Aldwych, in the Theater District. The hotel is convenient to the theaters, Covent Garden, Soho, Trafalgar Square, and most of the tourist sites. We had a junior suite, which was very comfortable. Bed, bathroom, televisions all were very good. Only negatives were an uncomfortable desk chair, which had seen better days, and room cleaning was a bit erratic as to timing. Room was very clean and had two separate air conditioning units, one for the bedroom and one for the sitting room. No upgrades here for a Diamond member, and our room had light but only a view of the center of the building, which was a bit disappointing. But it is was a very quiet room. The breakfast was nice, either in the executive lounge or the restaurant downstairs. We really enjoyed the bar in the lobby, as the bartenders were friendly and passionate about their service. Waitresses were a bit slow. The front desk and bell staff were extremely helpful and friendly. We recommend and will definitely return.
