"Unbelievably bad experience!"
Last night we came back to the hotel early and decided to watch a movie. We're staying in a two room suite at $700/night. I have been an SPG member since 1999 with over 281 nights spent at SPG hotels. At about 11;00 p.m. there's a knock on the door. So, I go to the door and there's a hotel security person there. She informs me there has been a complaint about noise. I told her I was surprised that we were just watching TV and I didn't think it was that loud be we would turn it down. She informs me that there were two complaints and if there is another we will be asked to leave the hotel. At this point I close the door and we turn the TV off. I called the hotel manager on duty at the time and asked about the complaints. Apparently, one was from the room next to ours. One was specifically about loud uncontrolled laughter. I assured her that was not us as we were quietly watching a movie. She assured me that we were the cause of the noise because the room next door complained. Although when I asked if they complained about the TV being loud she avoided the topic. I asked for a copy of the complaints which she said she's provide but never did. I certainly don't mind being asked to turn our TV down if we're bothering another guest. But being threatened with expulsion from the hotel and the general disdain from both the security person and the manager are unacceptable! I generally like SPG hotels, the W and the Westin in particular. I will continue to stay at the chain but I will never stay at the Westin Waterfront in Boston again!
"Good location for conventions & quick access to Logan"
This is a large hotel (~800 rooms') which holds up the Westin standards - nice, well run, comfortable bed, etc. The front desk & bell service are great, & the room rate was reasonable at least compared to other downtown locations. The surrounding area has changed as the old buildings have been updated and changed into office space; access to the convention center is super. It's a short hop from Amtrak and driving to Logan airport should be 15 minutes most days. But - if you plan to be in Copley Sq./Back Bay/Fenway - you need to plan to take a taxi. This is not a negative, just advice especially if you are a tourist.
"Fine hotel, not perfect location"
This hotel is a typical Westin, meaning it is clean, well-run and a bit, but not overly elegant. I was here as part of a convention, and the meal service was excellent -- I can single out Shewaye Issac as being particularly helpful and friendly. The waterfront location (it's actually a few blocks away) is in a former warehouse area that is being developed, so while there are some restaurants and activities in the area you will not see the real Boston unless you take a long walk or buy a ticket on the T. Both of which are good things to do if you have the time.
"Great Weekend Destination-great location, walk every where"
Donna Frechette made reserving a room so easy, she arranged everything so easily and when we arrived earlier than expected Isaac Diaz at the front desk checked us in early. After spending the day enjoying the waterfront and harbor neighborhoods we came back to find an unexpected treat- a lovely crudités platter. They made us feel very welcome!
"Good hotel on outskirts of Boston."
Had a relaxing stay here but it was a 15 to 20 minute walk to city centre. Service was friendly and good but the food available and bar facilities left a lot to be desired. It is a busy hotel and appears to be used by a lot of airlines. Also there are a lot of people attending conventions in the hotel or nearby. We could not find many nice restaurants in the vicinity of the hotel but it is close to a metro station so it is possible to eat in the city. Our room was spacious and well equipped but not a great view
