For my first visit in cape town for business purpose, this hotel came to be one of the best memories of my stay. Well located in the city you have most avtivities nearby the hotel. Food was excellent as well as the service.
"Still A Very Good Hotel"
There's a calm, friendly efficiency about the Cape Town Westin. You can't help but feel that everyone is well trained and very comfortable with their assignment. The hotel is spacious, clean and well maintained. The rooms are a good size, the beds and pillows very comfortable, the air conditioning and heating work as they should and the TV has a good selection of channels. My only complaint is there are no USB charger points next to the beds, which seems to be a pretty standard requirement these days. I arrived late morning and even though breakfast was technically over, the kitchen gladly made me a breakfast, which came to the room within about 20 minutes and arrived hot. I don't think there is a bad view from any room and the view from the executive floor takes in Table Mountain all the way around to the V&A. The executive floor lounge serves an excellent breakfast and the staff are quick to bring coffee and refills. The food was hot, tasty and well presented. There's a hotel shuttle that runs to the Victoria and Albert (V&A) waterfront where you can do a little shopping or eat affordably at one of the many restaurants that offer a wide assortment of cuisines and various views of the Harbour and Table Mountain. The gym is adequate, but if you are a gym rat you're probably going to want to get out to one of the Virgin gyms in Cape Town. It wouldn't take much to expand the gym at the Westin. I think they were focused on a gym with a view rather than a well equipped, more complete facility. All in all; a very good hotel. If you can get a comer room with a more panoramic view, it's worth asking for.
"Best Staff & Best Security in the City!"
I visit Cape Town every December I wouldn't stay anywhere else! The staff are amazing and the security of the hotel is perfect. I always feel safe when I am there. Benny at the pool will take great care of you-he is one of the best!
"Good stay after a bad start"
We arrived at the Westin having driven through the storm that lashed Cape Town - a wave splashed over the hire car leaving it smelling of Neptune's armpit. The car wash at the hotel wanted to charge a fortune to clean the car, I felt that was not right - help those who have had an unfortunate incident. So - we arrived at reception a little "rattled". The receptionist was not friendly at all and we got the feeling that she would rather we went to another hotel. She informed us there would be a R100.00 a day parking fee payable up-front - annoying when I found out that friends staying with us got complimentary parking. After this, we had a good stay. The rooms are comfortable and have excellent views. The Gym is adequate and the view breathtaking. The Pool is not for swimming - too small. The sauna was out of action. The breakfasts were good, but trying to get eggs to order was a mission.
"Lunch & spa"
We treated our very pregnant friend to lunch and a pre-natal massage up on the 19th floor. The views are stunning, taking you high above the bustling city below and providing clear sight of both the mountain and the shore line/waterfront. Wonderful massage after a good wallow in the infinity pool, which is included. Resting your chin on the side while surveying the horizon is quite a thrill. The spa area has armchairs where you can relax with flavoured water or hot tea and flick through magazines. if I had known, I would have allowed more time here! Definitely worth a return trip if you want to go more upmarket than the Sorbet experience.
