"Wonderful hotel, but don't stay on the South Wing due to noise"
Had a great stay at the hotel, the staff are great and can't do enough for you- facilities are great and we had a lovely stay. The ONLY downside was our room (512) was on the South Wing which overlooks the restaurants on the other side of the road. We stayed for 10 nights and during this time noise from weddings/parties from the pool/restaurant side kept us awake, once until 3.30am and another time 1.30am, so If I was to stay again, I would definitely not stay on this side of the hotel as this was the only downside. Special mentions to Ramon the barman and also Francesco who was fantastic,
"This could be 5 star but isnt"
All the plus points: Great staff in the restaurants, at The front desk and especially the concierge Wonderful site which is kept pretty spotless Good room size Good gardens But...... Doesn’t the GM walk around the rooms to see the little things like, A door stop in the bathroom by the toilet which is a magnet for toes Poor bedside lights for reading Bedroom lights that don’t work An almost unreachable shower and water control for the bath A pretty unimaginative menu for the coffee / drinks area in the lobby We would be happy to come back to this hotel, but with a little more attention to detail it really could be 5 star
"Great hotel with seaviews and close to town"
5 star luxury in Malta. Location: The hotel is located right on the water side. It is just a short 5 minute walk to St Julian town where you find shops and harbourside restaurants. The Casino is also next door to the hotel. Hotel: We stayed at the hotel for five nights in June. The hotel is modern and furnished well as you would expect from a Westin. It has a huge choice of rooms, we had an executive room on the top floor facing the water and the pool. The rooms are a good size, clean and modern. You can enjoy a good sleep as the bed is confortable and the rooms are dark and quiet. Make sure you book a seaview room as the others face the carpark. Bars and Restaurants: There is a bar and restaurant on the reception level. We didnt use it as there are better places to eat and drink in the town. There is also a small bar by the water but it is overpriced and you get short served in small plastic cups. Expect to pay for a full glass of wine and get half a glass! The executive room gives you access to the executive lounge where you can enjoy breakfast in peace away from the crush in the main restaurant. It has a nice outdoor balcony over looking the sea on the top floor. Same level as the executive rooms. After 5pm there are 2 hours of drinks and nibbles every night in the lounge which is a great way to start the evening before heading into town for dinner. Really worth paying the extra for the lounge access if you like to enjoy breakfast and drinks without kids around. Facilities: The hotel has a large pool right in front of the ocean. There are plenty of sunbeds to go around even if you get to the pool at 2pm. You can also swim in the sea off a concrete deck where the beach bar is. Theres no beach here. The gym is the best hotel gym you will ever see. It's pretty much a full sized gym overlooking the water. Lots of cardio equipment and lots of free weights and weight machines. It was never busy in there. You also get complimentary water and towels. Verdict: Great hotel and location for a holiday in Malta. Would highly recommend as long as it has the executive lounge!
"Great Resort Hotel in a nice location "
The Westin Dragonara is one of the top Hotels in Malta. We spent 8 nights in this wonderful resort and we were fully satisfied with our stay. We had an Executive Suite with balcony on the 8th floor and the sea view was great. We also had access to the Executive Lounge with is quite convenient. Rooms are spacious, nicely decorated and clean. The breakfast buffet is great, with a very large choice. The staff is very friendly and helpful (special thanks to Clara). The hotel has two pools with always enough sunbeds and a private access to the sea with crystal clear water. Around the pool and at the private beach you can order drinks and snacks via WhatsApp, indicating the number of your Parasol and the order will be directly delivered to your sunbed. The hotel has also 4 nice restaurants for lunch or dinner; our favorite was the "Boathouse" which serves great Tapas in a great setting, directly at the sea. The only little negative point was that, in some restaurants of the Resort, they have too many intership people lacking experience in service.
"Best holiday ever"
We had the best family holiday we have ever had staying at the Westin Dragonara resort in August 2016. This is our third time staying at this hotel and their standards are still sky high. The hotels location is perfect with its own casino, beautiful sea views and an array of restaurants and bars just a few minutes’ walk away. The food at the hotel is equally perfect with the choice of one buffet restaurant and several a la carte restaurants. With two large pools, both with kids’ areas, this hotel is suitable for families with younger children, but also perfect for couples and families with older children. It’s an all-rounder! The bar in the hotel reception is particularly luxurious and can tell you are in 5* settings from the moment you are in the lobby. The rooms are all beautiful, the comfiest beds we have all slept in and we had two particularly spacious rooms. However, it is the staff that really make this place. On the first Thursday of your arrival you are invited to a welcome reception with wine and canopies. At this reception we had the pleasure of meeting the hotels manager and manager of communications, Michael and Johnathan. They’re both complete assets to the hotel and we couldn’t see it running as smoothly without them. The staff at the bar are fantastic with special mention to Kais, Braden. John and Oliver equally were fantastic. What an amazing team that made our stay absolutely unforgettable that deserve nothing but praise! At the Reef club Drinu was there practically every day of our 7-night stay and never failed to give 5* service with a smile. Palios restaurant was our absolute favorite and made all the more excellent by Beppe and his fantastic customer service. Finally, the concierge team Malcolm and Malcom (one of quality and one of quantity) are a brilliant pair that ensure you enter and leave the hotel with a smile. This hotel is the best in Malta, without a doubt. It is worth every penny. We cannot thank the staff enough for our stay and we hope we will return soon. From, Yasmin, Sandra, Scarlet and Paul
