"A fine stay"
Stayed 2 nights on a business trip in a double room booked with points. First time staying in JC. Did not use the gym nor the restaurant. Room was spacious and well appointed and would gladly go back.
"Great experience. "
I’m a Hilton diamond member, and mostly do Hilton hotels, but decided to give SPG a try. Lemme break it down: Room was clean. Food was amazing. Service was phenomenal. Views were breathtaking. Pool and jacuzzi were great as well, parking can be a issue if you don’t use valet since it’s a pretty far walk from the garage to the hotel. Other then that, 9/10 in every aspect. Great job Westin!!
"Basic Westin Hotel"
Stayed a few nights for work during the week. The rooms are spacious, yet dark as there is no overhead lighting. We used the conference facilities and they were fairly nice. However, there was a professional sports team staying in the hotel during our visit and this added additional hassle as we needed to constantly show our room keys while going in and out of the hotel due to heightened security. There were also groupies surrounding the hotel and this added to the general annoyance of the situation. It is a basic Westin and a fine place to stay if you have work commitments in the general area.
"Luxury in Jersey City"
We stayed here to visit our daughter in Jersey City. Definitely the most upscale hotel we've tried in the area. Great gym and restaurant. I left a necklace in the room and security manager assisted in sending it back to me.
"We had a corner room where the lighting was poor, the lamp(s) were damaged, and the accommodation was WAY overpriced"
Our room was a corner room on the 6th floor. Even though there were large windows on 2 walls, the lighting in the room, EVEN WITH LAMPS ON, was poor. The light switches for the bedside lamps were, AT BEST, difficult to use. The hotel restaurant on the first floor (NOT the Fire & Oak), was way over price and the breakfast buffet served cold coffer, cold eggs. If you want a decent meal, eat at Fire & Oak. Furthermore, the hotel adds an 18% "service charge" on its meals, then charges STATE TAX on the service charge. OUTRAGEOUS - they apparently don't pay their help adequately and want customers to be REQUIRED tgo make up for their inadequate pay policy!! When we questioned this, we were told to talk to the Manager. I'll soon call my attorney! We would never stay at this property again. Use the nearby Marriott instead. PS - if you need a taxi, call one yourself or use Uber. the one we first tried charged us $31 for a ride to Liberty House - a 10-minute drive. OFFENSIVE!
