Just back yesterday from 8 days here.... miss it already!!! ok, here it goes.... the studio was great for 4 people... just remember that the studios only have one bed with a double sofa bed. Our mattress was good, but our daughters room had a horrible mattress that needed to be replaced. the room was not musty at all. Very large resort with lots of walking. Elevators are fast and always available. The 2 pools were heated and very clean. Absolutely breath taking!!! Always loungers available at beach and pools. Didn’t eat at the restaurants as we never heard anyone say anything great about them. Always walked across the street to the mall. Be warned, big hill to walk up on return. Only annoyance was spa people asking us all day long at the pool for services. They need to stop this. Don’t need a car to rent as the buses take you up and down the hotel zone every 2 minutes!!! Either R1 or R2 will take you. $1US each way. We walked to Soriano grocery store only 10 minutes away... then take bus back. make sure you have the US to Peso converter app downloaded on your phone to help with prices. Some things reasonable, some sooo expensive!!! We BBQ a few times at the hotel. Was our best meals all week. Staff was always smiling and friendly. They work hard. I definitely recommend this place for anyone!!! Would return in a heartbeat. Best for seniors, couples, families, but not a party single type of place. Very family oriented.
"Short family vacation"
We had a great time at this Westin. We got a special deal and it was totally worth it. It's in the Hotel Zone of Cancun so not much beyond touristy stuff which was fine by us, we had our 7 month old with us, we couldn't do much any way. We were in room 475 which was actually on the 7th floor, seems that every room has a pretty great view and a balcony which is a nice touch. The room was the "studio" room, which for us was just enough, they gave us a crib as well which fit perfect. The kitchenette was a nice addition, especially the fridge and sink for baby stuff. The bathroom was huge which was nice. Overall the room was clean and perfect for our needs, the bed was fairly comfy too. The grounds are kept up very nicely, but it is a bit of a maze, especially with a stroller, trying to find ways you can go down to the pool and beach, I think a few more signs or maps would help alleviate this. We spent our time at the main infinity pool which was very nice and huge. It was also very clean and warm. The only problem with the pool area is people saving chairs, I would literally watch people go out there at 6am, put a towel down and not come to their chair until noon. The hotel makes you sign something saying you won't do that and that they enforce that, but they clearly do not. So if you're one of those people, I bet you're the same person who leaves their shopping cart in your parking spot instead of returning it...anyway. Drinks were reasonably priced through the resort, especially at happy hour which is exactly that, and hour, no more, no less. But you can buy booze down the street which we did, saves you quite a bit of money. The restaurants were OK, nothing amazing, but good. We preferred to go off site to eat. The best nachos I had were at Duna, the sports bar. Service was pretty good at restaurants and bars, at the pool bar they were always overwhelmed it seemed and never really seem to connect with the guests, same with any entertainment staff, I don't even know if I saw one while there. I feel like other resorts we've been at we connected with the staff, here, it just wasn't that vibe. I think a lot of the owners there do, but they come every year kinda thing. The fitness center was smaller but had all the things you need. We had a wonderful Concierge in Victoria, just a shout out to her for helping plan our trip, even though we couldn't really do any excursions she made reservations for us. We did sit thru the time share presentation for the extra $100 credit. It went slightly over an hour and a half, and it was well done, but also very confusing, which I think is the point. I prefer point blank, what's this going to cost me each year, instead of using the terms 45,000 options for a week stay, tell me what it will cost me. The term "options" is meaningless. But they were not too pushy which I appreciate. If you want to save $100 go for it. We considered it, but to be honest this resort seemed to have mostly an older clientele there were really no families our age, those that were were there with their parents and grandparents. Last tip, definitely use their transportation service from the hotel, it's $85 round trip, but worth it. Overall, a great hotel and we enjoyed our stay, we would definitely return if the opportunity presented itself again.
"Amazing Cancun Resort"
The Westin Lagunamar was amazing. The worst part was the check-in process. Although there are 5 concierges standing around, apparently only one of them can do check-ins so it took us about 20 minutes to complete the process. The one bedroom suite was a good size. The bathroom was huge with separate WC and shower rooms. There was a very large Jacuzzi tub and double vanity sink. There were two tvs and dvr players. The kitchenette was very nice. The property is beautiful. The wait staff at the pool were very attentive. The food was okay but the drinks were really good. The pools were pristine. I couldn't have asked for more; well except for a speedier check-in.
"The BEST place in Cancun!"
Don't look any further for a place to vacation! The Westin Lagunamar has everything - excellent service, beautiful property/rooms, delicious/affordable food, and the best location across from the mall with a grocery store a short walk away. I have been to this property at least 7 times since I'm a Vistana owner and it feels like home. From the moment we arrived, Alberto the manager greeted me and my friend and escorted us to our ocean-front room. In the room was a special birthday surprise that made me cry. Maggie the concierge made all of our reservations, including shuttles to and from the airport, and she is the friendliest and most knowledgeable person on where to go in Cancun. Everyone is so friendly and welcoming -- from Gabriel the bellman to Jesus the pool server. It really feels like my second home. The rooms are beautiful, and all have a kitchen and balcony. The two pools are never crowded despite the property being sold out almost every time I go. The beach is incredible and the turquoise water -- I can't even explain how beautiful it is. There are thatched huts with shade on the beach or the pool concierge will set up chairs and an umbrella for free. It is the most relaxing place in the world and a great value too. Don't miss the 1/2 price happy hour and the Duna Bar pizza and Duo salad with figs and cartelized pears -- delicious! The daily water aerobics or volleyball will help you work it off. I also tried the complimentary yoga and stretching classes this time which was a great start to my day. It was hard to leave but I'm going back in January so I'll see my Cancun family again soon. It is truly my home away from home. Thank you, Alberto, Maggie, and the rest of Mi Familia!
"Westin Lagunamar week"
Excellent beaches and hotel staff very friendly, everyone smiles. Being from the Midwest there is no reason to fly to Hawaii when you can be here. Most if not all villas view the ocean beach front, great balcony wonderful pools. Very clean!
