Our experiences at the Westin can only be described as “mixed”. For example, the foyer and reception area is large, bright and well furnished - but it was frustrating that a raucous male group was in the process of checking in so we had to wait some time because there was only one member of staff on duty. We’d reserved a double room – but found that it had only been prepared for one person so we had to ask for additional bedding, towels etc. It transpired that they were available in various cupboards in the room - but it should not be our job as guests to have to search for them. Our deluxe room was well appointed with good city views – but minibars had been taken out when the rooms was recently re-furbished. There was a note explaining that this was all in the interests of efficiency and modernising – but requiring guests to obtain minibar-type supplies from what is essentially a vending display in the foyer is not acceptable in what claims to be a five-star hotel. The foyer (Shinto) bar is relatively small and lacks any sense of ambiance. Service there was good – but it shouldn’t be necessary to ask for a bowl of snacks. Breakfast is served in the first floor restaurant and provides good quality and variety – but it’s a shame that the cups for tea and coffee are a rather heavy chunky type one usually finds in cheap cafes. This hotel has some good qualities – but there are too many small omissions or failures which let down the overall experience.
"Great Value for price and fancy hotel!"
I just could not imagine such a luxury and great design inside this hotel, for the price great value, very chic and nice interior design. Looks like they have renovated all the rooms with modern design, close to center just walk everywhere or take train or metro. Free breakfast with your SPG member
"Very centrally located hotel-great for business or family visits."
The hotel is very well located and is even visible from the central station. You can simply walk over there from the station in a few minutes. The hotel is great - lovely reception, ambience, facilities. Rooms were fine too. You can get wifi if you book the room directly from their website - otherwise you pay extra. Spa and pool facilities can be used by paying 5 eur extra per session. No minibar or tea/coffee making facilities were provided in the room. Breakfast is pricey-like the other Westin hotels though it is possible to order some breakfast items in advance. For meals, I preferred going to the centrals tation or nearby market area - the station is huge and has all sorts of restaurants/bakeries/stores etc.
The hotel is in a good condition with its modern architecture . Lobby area is huge . I was expecting better breakfast & more free space in the restaurant. Room is nice , but bit small, however to reach my floor is an adrenaline experience getting in the elevator :) There is M.I.C.E. business facilities at the hotel on a professional level...
"Quite ok, but no luxery"
The short walk from the train station was the main reason why we choose this hotel for just one night. As has been mentioned already by others: no coffee facilities or fridge in the room, although what we had was not a standard room on 23 th floor with a grand view into the zoo garden and the city centre. Since the hotel announced they had a pool, I was eager to have a swim in the afternoon. But be aware: you have to register in the reseption and get a special key card for the pool and spa. And do be aware: they charge you € 5 for using the spa facilities. Which changed my idea. I have been staying all over Germany in hotels with pool, and this was the first time ever there was an extra fee for clients. The interior in the reception and the breakfast room was rather dark and grim. Nothing wrong with the breakfast buffet, you just felt it was not meant you should enjoy for it too long.
