"Westin grand Central "
Staying in room 2123 after paying a 50 dollar a night "upgrade" fee. This was my second room. First room smelled like smoke. The second room has hair from the last person in the bathroom. So gross. They told me the rooms were just updated. It clearly doesn't look like it.
"Lovely, smart hotel!"
Quite central hotel , 15 minute walk to Times Square. Very clean, modern and luxurious. Hotel was lovely. It is a sky scraper so if you don't like heights ask for a low floor. The lift is very quick. No breakfast here.
Myself, My husband, our adult daughter & her friend stayed here for 2 nights in June. To be honest, we weren't in the room very much as there is so much to see and do in NY. The room was on the small side, but big enough for a couple of nights. However, It was clean and the beds were comfy. We didn't eat at the hotel because there are so many good places on the doorstep. The best thing about this hotel is the location, just a couple of minutes walk from Grand Central Station, The Empire State building & many more must see attractions. The staff were courteous & professional. I would stay again if I return to NY.
"an awesome accommodation"
Wonderful location , Helpful and Friendly staff , rooms were good , Bathroom lighting was literally greeeaaat.! , the price per night was reasonable as a 4-stars-hotel located in Manhatten I like the hotel and i would book there if I came to NYC again
"Updated rooms but lack of common spaces and loud street noise "
I stayed one night for a business trip as my meeting was on the same block. The traditional king room was clean and of decent size for NYC and had a small sitting area with a couch and chair and a desk. Well lit mirror and makeup mirror in the bathroom. The TV was very large but unfortunately did not work - and the remote had fallen behind the dresser from the previous guest, where it was unreachable. (It was 11pm when I realized this so I didn't disturb housekeeping with the issue.) Street noise (sirens, trucks, motorcycles) if you're facing 42nd street is pretty loud, recommend asking for a different side or higher floor (but beware waiting for elevators) if you're a light sleeper. Location is convenient to grand central, pharmacies and bodegas, and coffee shops/lunch options (I didn't have a chance to explore any dinner options.) Wifi costs $14.95 for ten devices. I didn't have any connectivity issues. I found the service to be fine. The reception staff member who checked me in was perfunctory and didn't explain any of the hotel's amenities nor was it provided in a folio in the room. But the housekeeping staff, checkout, and luggage room attendants were friendly. Wish the hotel had a larger or improved common area to wait in to take a moment to get one's bearings or gather one's luggage. There was basically no seating area at reception - just the check in and concierge desks and some benches in the very back of the lobby (too loud to take a call in). Given how big the hotel is it felt pretty busy and frenetic, which is not what I hope for in arriving "home" while traveling.
