"Decent rooms, great location - mediocre service"
I had a room overlooking an alley that was a bit noisy at night, but other than that thought it was an OK place for the price. The rooms are decent, location is great, and the price wasn't bad for this week. It also has a decent gym and lounge on the 33rd floor. The issues: - First, I had to call 3 times to get my room cleaned. The first time they did nothing (after I went to the front desk. The second time I called housekeeping and was told "we'll call you back.". They never did. Finally, a 2nd trip and 3rd contact made it happen. Second, it will be noisy. The walls are super thing. You can hear people talk in the next room and every sound in the hallways. The toilets also sound like a jet plane. It's actually amusing at first how loud they are - like you need to stand back and hold onto something or you'll get sucked in. Last, and most annoying, the first day I walked around the service cart for room cleaning (see photo below). Ironically, I was told "we will not clean your room unless you request it." After 3 days I called the front desk. They acted like I was a fool for asking. "Well, it's our service cart. We have to leave it there. There is one on every floor." I've stayed in 500+ hotel in 40+ countries and have NEVER seen a hotel that leaves this giant thing in in the hallway 100% of the time. They refused to move it. I stayed at the hotel for 10 days night (mid-stay right now), and they will not move it. I have to walk around this to get to my room. Why can't your cleaning person move the cart, like EVERY OTHER HOTEL IN THE WORLD' It "must" live in the hallway, in front of my room'' Totally insane. Between the alley view and this dumpster, maybe I should have slept on the street.
We spent the weekend here and couldn't have been happier. It was our first time and we didn't know what to expect but we loved it. The location is outstanding. We took the train to grand central. Walking with our luggage was easy from the station just a few blocks away. Also accessible to subway. Many good quality restaurants are in walking distance. There are a couple of markets in the same block which made it really convenient for getting some things for breakfast, snacks, beverages, etc. the accommodations were outstanding. Clean, comfortable and wonderfully appointed, our room was perfect. The bed was really comfortable and the room(s) had everything we needed. Staff was courteous and accommodating. No complaints!
"Location extraordinaire, comfortable room...."
We are Wyndham owners and our first stay at Midtown 45. The location could not be any better with a 7 minute walk to Grand Central where you can catch subways and trains to all parts Manhattan and beyond. Porters and check-in staff were wonderful... none I and helpful. Check-in and out were a breeze. There is a 24 hour deli on the corner of 3rd and 45th and a market selling food, pizza and groceries across the street the street. Positives: We had a studio with a King bed and full kitchen amenities. Microwave/oven, coffee maker, dishwasher, all with cleaning products and towels...well done. The suite was comfortable and with security box and anything one might need. Bathroom has its own TV as well; we needed to only call to get new towels since we had no mid-week room cleaning. Cleaning and security staff were always friendly and pleasant! Negatives : As others have mentioned....the elevators. If you are in a hurry to catch a ride or cab you had better allow time. Wyndham 45 has a egalitarian system that asks you to touch panel which floor your room is on then directs you to one of the 3 lifts. But one was being serviced and the wait often took 6 to 8 minutes with a crowd build up...staff had to use the same elevators so kudos to them for adapting! The other negative was having to walk by the Wyndham timeshare staff to access the elevators. The location was quite intentional and some faces were not the most warm when you decide not to partake in the presentation. We are owners already have have the right to decline any and all future presentations without the " push". Would we stay here again' A resounding YES despite the small negatives...
"Stay at the Wyndham Midtown"
The hotel is well located with corner rooms and great views of the city. And one of the young men that worked in the lobby is an example of great service, a warm and caring nature, and someone that did honor to the hotel he worked for. His name was Sly, and old basketball name he said. Kudos to whomever hired him. Whenever we needed something he was right there ready to help us. My biggest concern after I checked in was with the cleanliness of the room. They are well decorated and at first glance all looked great, Then the morning after check in I noticed a great deal of dust, and the floors needed to be swept and mopped. There were crumbs under the dining table etc. I will give it to the staff someone was sent up to sweep, mop and dust, She did a great job and we were moved ti another room. And hats off to Andrew the housekeeping director he was kind and understanding when I was upset, and got everything cleaned very well. The staff at this hotel makes it a great place to stay.
"Nice rooom great locations"
We arrived early, so we could not check in, but were able to park the car. The hotel was in walking distance to a lot of attractions and train stations. I had a 1 bedroom with a full kitchen. Everything is the room was new and updated & very art deco. The kitchen had stainless steel appliances, which you don't see much in rentals. The room was larger then I was expecting for NY. There were 6 rooms on our floor (14th). The bedding was very nice even on the pull out. The room had three flat screen televisions including one in the bathroom. The room had a dinning room table with 4 chairs and another area with a long table a 1 chair, which I guess might be considered a work space, which seemed to be a lot of wasted space. There was a nice closet in the work area and a big walk in closet in the master bedroom. The bath room was nice, but not a lot of counter space. The roof top lounge was really nice & had several couches and tables, where you could gather in groups. Great views of the city especially at night. The only issue I had was the parking. I drive a normal sized mini van which they consider an oversized vehicle, which means I had to pay $75 dollars for parking as oppose to $55. I have driven a mini van for 0ver 20 years and it has never been considered an oversized vehicle. They should let you know that in their parking information. Also they are pushy on trying to get you to go to a timeshare presentation. We had NO interest in attending any type of presentation. Over all a great place to stay
