"Good hotel to use as a base to explore"
Beds were comfortable. Staff are friendly. Breakfast had a nice mix of local and western cuisine. Water is provided in the rooms each day (make sure the plastic covering is still intact; otherwise, do not drink that bottle - this goes for all of Thailand). Only a 10 minute walk from the Sky Train stop Sala Daeng (on the Silom Line, a few stops from Saphan Taksin for boats - use Orange Flag - to the Wats). There are a number of places to eat around the hotel (although some are very hard to find so make sure you have a map with street names printed or pre-loaded on your phone - GPS was sketchy at best). To help prevent attracting cockroaches (which is hard to prevent in Bangkok), we put our rubbish in the fridge so it didn't smell overnight - still had two small ones. Be aware that a 2-bedroom apartment may only have 1 safe box (not ideal when two couples are sharing the apartment). Also, make sure you ask for a taxi on a meter to prevent being overcharged (and if the hotel states a large taxi is a set price, use 2 taxis - traffic dependent, it is normally cheaper).
"Surely not a five-star hotel , poor hospitality and service-mind"
Me and my boyfriend are here for a one-night stay during Songkran holidays. We didn't feel welcomed as a local. At the time of check-in, staff didn't provide us sufficient information about our stay; where's the outlet for breakfast' Which floor is the pool on' Also, they did not even walk us to our room. Locating the room was hard enough...There was a tourist couple at the table beside us during check-in, so comparing how they treated us wasn't hard at all. Before going swimming, we decided to watch movie on our laptop but wifi signal was poor and gave us a hard time enjoying it. When we were about to sleep, we discovered that with a poor interior design, we were unable to close the bedroom door which puzzled me a lot. There should have been an inspection of rooms and you should have recognized this already.
"Still needs some improvements."
There was no evidence of cock roaches mentioned in previous reviews and the cleanliness was at an acceptable standard. The price paid reflects that the fact that this is no longer a 5 star establishment. The location is good with easy access to Silom Rd, the rooms are basic. What it lacks is front office management, with the exception of the door staff, they lack any welcoming customer skills, efficient usually but cold and unfriendly. The downsides the rooms are noisy both from the air con and the road, internet takes a number of calls to reception to get going. Little things like stationary and a folder explaining facilities in the room could have been provided. The towels reflect the overall feeling of the place, clean, worn and frayed at the edges.
"Average hotel "
Not what you'd expect of a 5 star hotel. The staff was friendly but the hotel and breakfast was pretty mediocre at best. Rooms are spacious but more of a 3/4 star feel. Breakfast is not included in most cases and the price they charge for breakfast is not worth the spread. Definitely better options in Bangkok. If you want the full 5 star experience, hit up the Banyan Tree!
The staff is wonderful and friendly, they try really hard to accommodate. The problem seems to be coming from above- owner or the manager. The rooms don't get cleaned unless you ask for it. The towel and bathroom amenities are minimalistic.
