Overall this is a cool hotel with great views and an amazing staff. We hosted a 4 day event there last week. Hosting involves a lot of one on one interaction with staff. 100% of the people I dealt with were kind and accommodating. I'd like to thank Dan Winitsky, Devencie Erwin, Peter, Sam, Mo, Brian and all the other staff that helped make our event a success. Thanks again guys!!!
"Typical W hotel "
This W is ok. The people are nice the venue is good. Great view of the lake although a highway deprecated you from actually walking across. Have stayed in nicer ones but for Chicago it is very nice. I stay in hotels over 100 days a year so I feel confident in saying it is up to a W.
"A dichotomous cacophony of bad service, inhospitable amenities and inflated prices"
The hotel really looked promising. But, several staff mishaps, including a billing issue, horrible attitudes of the desk staff, and complete lack of effort from 19 people in black suits wearing W pins standing and not doing anything, really, made this for a poor stay and I would never recommend or return here. Even As a fan of dance music, I really don't appreciate dance club Lightning for dinner settings and the over inflated prices of horrible food didn't help. Terrible hotel.
"Comfy + chic home base while exploring the Windy City w/ a friend"
Came for a long weekend with a girlfriend for a girls’ weekend on a recommendation from my friend’s coworker. Check-in was very easy and quick – overall the service was friendly and knowledgeable. Our room was extremely spacious and comfortable for two: we shared a giant king-sized bed with plenty of sitting areas, lighting and counterspace, and mirrors to accommodate the two of us :) Slept very comfortably and enjoyed the super clean, well-kept, good-sized bathroom with the provided Bliss bath amenities and ample-sized towels. The hotel gym was small but clean and well-ventilated, totally efficient for our weekend morning workout before heading out for the day. Less than a 10-min walk to a variety of eateries, sights, and transportation options. Would definitely stay again!
"Very modern, swanky hotel, service was great"
I usually stay only at Marriott chain properties but this was booked by my company for a tradeshow in Chicago so I had no choice in the matter. (I did at least get points bc of the Starwood - Marriott merger so that was a plus!) I was pleasantly surprised when I arrived. The lobby and restaurant was beautiful and the front desk staff was very accommodating. They had a room ready (with a beautiful lake front view of Navy Pier) even though I arrived early, around noon. The room was very well appointed, comfortable and had great toiletries (Bliss products). I ordered room service twice during my stay and the food was excellent. I also ate in the restaurant in the lobby and it was also very good. I used the gym twice (luckily it's open 24 hours bc I had to use it at 430 due to my schedule). It was a little small but had all of the necessary gym essentials including weights and equipment other than cardio. My only suggestion would be for a more robust market for grab and go items in the lobby. Since I was running to catch the shuttle bus to the convention center in the morning after the gym, I didn't have time for a full sit down breakfast and would have liked to have more options to take with me for the long bus ride. I made do with some of the snacks they had for purchase and there was free coffee which was a definitely plus!
