"Excellent luxury hotel in Hollywood"
Comfortable rooms, nice and active bar, swimming pool on the rooftop, and excellent service overall. There isn't much negative to say about the W Hotel Hollywood. Two words of warning though: 1) The hotel is huge, and if you're on the lower floors, your phone reception might be inexistant ; 2) Service at the Delphine restaurant where you can take breakfast is far from great, and often quite slow, so don't go there (or go early) if you're in a rush in the mornings. Otherwise a great stay !
"Good Hotel, Great Location"
We chose this hotel for a girls' trip weekend and it was perfect for that purpose. Location is great, right above a Metro stop and within walking distance of lots of restaurants and sights. Our rooms were spotless and very quiet. Only downsides: very expensive drinks in the hotel bar (location, location, location!) and you have to pay for Wifi. There's also no coffee in the rooms, but it's available for free on the second floor.
This is a great property if you are looking to do something a little extra special for yourselves. We were in town for a wedding and happen to win a 3 night stay here. Addison at the desk checked us in and was engaging, genuine, helpful, and just fun to talk to. Val had also helped us on the phone a couple times and she went above and beyond our expectations. The rooftop pool was so fun, I wish we had more time to spend up there. Rooftop DJ's were awesome, nice, and engaging. Frank at the bar up there made ridiculously delicious drinks, and was very friendly. The DJ in the livingroom on Friday night was not awesome. He was pretty rude to our wedding party and acted like we were encroaching on his space. That was the only time during this stay where the service sucked. We got the point quickly. Despite that experience, the rest of the stay was Wonderful. Highly recommended.
"Annoying jet sounds"
Typical W room with modern decor, clean and helpful staff. I called the chain to fix my SPG login issues and ended up being offered a slightly cheaper rate than the one I had. (By the way, I had to prepay in order to get the cheaper rate, which mans I was probably getting a non-cancellable rate that I did not care about) Well, cheaper rates come with a cost and the cost was to get a room next to the elevator. As a result, I ended up having to spend the night hearing jet like sounds. Luckily I as tired enough to be able to sleep and also I am an early riser so if you want to sleep beyond 530 am ensure that your room is away from the elevators! Rooms do not include hotel flip flops which help you avoid the germs on the floor. I had to wear my shoes all the time.
In the spirit of know before you go, this is an upscale hotel for millennials and older people, like me, may be put off by the noise and decor. That said, I enjoyed my 2-night stay. Food and beverage were good, service was attentive, the pool area is compact, beds are very close to the ground, there is construction but it isn't loud inside, and the neighborhood is a little sketchy.
