"First impression "
My first impression is the location is amazing of course right around the corner from the World Trade Center and the financial district is a very good choice , now being a PLAT75 I would have thought I would have gotten a better room upgrade then 7th floor over looking all night construction in a very small room , when did NY become Europe ' Front desk staff were great and check in was painless..... more to come
Having stayed at the W in Union Square we thought we'd try this one on this occasion and it was a massive mistake. The hotel feels tired and the furniture is almost a battered afterthought. There is no room service, no restaurant, no breakfast and the entrance is just weird. Upon arrival we found our shower had not been cleaned properly and there is some mould on the ceiling.
"Excellent hotel and location"
We had such a nice weekend at this W. The staff are friendly and professional. The location is so convenient to the Sept. 11 Memorials and Museum and Battery Park and a host of other sites. The traffic is not horrific as compared to mid town or up town. Perhaps not as much to offer in terms of restaurants and certainly not as to plays (for those take a taxi about 3 miles north). But we will return.
"Dysfunctional....just a bed not a hotel!"
Hotel - noun -" an establishment providing accommodation, meals, and other services for travellers and tourists" OHH SO YOU THOUGHT! Not this one I'm afraid. No breakfast, no restaurant, no room service and the night we arrived not even a bar. Barely a mention of this long term kitchen/restaurant closure on the booking website and nothing on their own one. Clueless front desk / management. 3 rooms 2 nights, $2700! haha you must be laughing...but I'm crying. Wrote an email of complaint 6 days ago which remains unanswered. Disgraceful.
"Great hotel in the financial district across from 911 memorial"
The staff at the hotel is very helpful and friendly...from check-in staff to the housekeeping staff. The rooms are nice size and very nicely decorated with contemporary decor. There was no shower cap/Qtips/cotton swabs in the room....you have to ask Housekeeping for these items. However, they do supply nice shampoo/conditioner/body wash/lotion. I really do not like the lighting in the bathroom....there was plenty of it, but not in the right areas for putting on makeup. There was a large makeup mirror on the vanity which was way too large for such a small vanity (it should be put on the wall...not on the vanity)...but the bulb on the makeup mirror was too dim. The beds were great. The room could also use better lighting. My biggest complaint about this hotel is the dark mirrored floor in the lobby. It shines in your eyes and makes you dizzy which was the complaint among many we were with. Our room was on the 14th floor facing the 911 Memorial and the view was spectacular.....one of the best I've had in NYC. Complimentary coffee and tea is offered in the lobby each morning.
