W New York Times Square hotel is ideally located, in the Theater District, just steps from the ball drop, Broadway shows and shopping of Times Square. Sultry downtown and renowned museums are just a subway ride away.
Lovely hotel, great location right in the middle of where we needed to be,idea for walking to times square or just a short walk to metro. Clean, rooms adequate for what we needed, although more counter top space would be useful. Staff very helpful. our rooms were on the back of the hotel so the noise was kept to a minimum.
"Noisy Spot--provides little sleep"
The view was interesting, since the hotel is right at Times Square. However, since the location was great, the amount of noise was a huge inconvenience. If you don't mind hearing traffic and sirens all night long, even with earplugs, then this will work for you. It did NOT work for me. The room set up and decor is also too barren and inconvenient for a female. Not much counter space. I commented to my husband---it might be a good hotel for a single man with a small suitcase that can sleep through anything. On the other hand--the staff here is wonderful, and the little Mexican Food restaurant downstairs was delicious.
"Rated VG for Alex Fish trying very hard. GM Baten AWOL."
Third year for using my awards for my son and his wife in Times Square. First year Sheraton on 7th. GM assigned Exec. Asst. Great and use of Club. Second at Marriott Marquis, GM personally interfaced and access to Club with great room. This year decided to use the W given my great experience with Rasha Sokkar Coach at Lexington W, who REALLY took care of me (along with GM). Alex Fish Welcome Desk assigned and kudos to him for working with me very hard to get everything organized for a stay at a time security was very tight. Comments: PLUS Stylish Trendy Room was immaculate. Cleaning staff and service people (food delivery etc.) were excellent. Thoughtful and non-intrusive. Great music throughout lobby and elevators at all times. Menu/Dining in: Son had lobster bisque and lobster sandwich and glass of coke (70$ !). Excellent tasty food. Location: insane/crowded yet still very useful. Duane Reed one block away and tons of food options. MINUS Expensive They forgot the wine amenity promised (not so at the other Marriott/Starwood/W/Westin Hotels) Check in was long, expected given the time of year. Normally check-in for Elites. They gave people a lot of unnecessary trouble going to the bar roughly 8pm on 12/31 Concierge said not possible to connect to the tv — untrue. The tv setup is actually great for porting into and the tech setup is awesome (we watched our own movies) Kudos to Alex for working hard to please. GM Baten you have a super employee. Pity Hotel dropped the ball on the special amenity along with a note from you. The low and high reviews would indicate a need for consistency with this Property. Alex trying is the sole reason for the VG.
Cool boutique hotel. Great location. Rooms are a little small and very modern. The hotel bar is great and has two great restaurants inside the hotel. Beds are comfy rooms are clean and bathroom is a little small. But all in all a great hotel for the cost and location.
"Too modern and neon"
Entering a W is like going on a acid trip...not that I’ve ever tried acid, but it’s what I’d imagine a trip would feel like. This hotel has neon strip lighting, infinity type mirrors, oddly shaped seats, and of course, strange artwork on the walls. Overall, it’s unsettling and there is nothing restful about the decor. The loud techno and trance music, they play in the bar, is also off-putting. Maybe you need to be in your 20's, or else be a hard partier, to appreciate this place. I found it to be a nightmare. I was so happy to check into a classical hotel, in NY, after visiting this place.
