W New York Times Square hotel is ideally located, in the Theater District, just steps from the ball drop, Broadway shows and shopping of Times Square. Sultry downtown and renowned museums are just a subway ride away.
It was ok. The bathroom needs updating, come on- the frosted see thru windows cover the bathroom when someone is on the toilet- and you can still tell. Its not cute anymore. Please hotels, stop this- its tacky. And the bathroom door was a 'sexy door' its a lot more sexy when it closes firmly so you don't hear sounds coming from your loved on trying desperately to do their best to be quiet but still use the facilities.... Just don't do these bathrooms anymore, please. Less is more' And a nice firm seal on the door...
"Great hotel in the middle of Times Square "
After reading the reviews and viewing the location we decided to spend 2 nights here to celebrate a milestone anniversary. I was impressed that the elevators are secured with key/card pass to access . The rooms were well appointed, very clean And truly a nice size for Manhattan. Bedding comfortable, pillows plush and nice cotton robes await you as well. One drawback (big for me) to the room was the restroom doors were faintly frosted. You could see the person on the inside (not the shower area). I was not pleased with this. W hotel should have definitely frosted it for TOTAL privacy. Additionally as stated in the reviews the corridors are dimly and I repeat dimly lit. Not sure why' Other than that the view from my room was quite nice. While you may hear sirens and traffic it's not constant and one has to remember that you are in Manhattan. W hotel has a lounge on the 7th floor which offers entertainment and comfortable seating. Basket of apples in the morning, books to peruse and games of checkers and chess are out. Concierge and hotel staff are extremely kind and accommodating. I would definitely return for a weekend jaunt and indeed look forward to it!
Very loud hotel especially on a Friday and sat night, it was basically turned in to a nightclub! Food to order in to the room was so overpriced, $12 for toast'! Wifi was not free which in this day and age is poor. Staff were very pleasant
"Great location, great hotel!"
In the heart of Times Square, literally! Beautiful hotel, and beautiful rooms. Surprisingly being at the door step to Times Square we thought noise would be a concern, but it wasn't. Facilities in hotel are great, and staff were lovely
"Birthday Weekend Ruined"
I have stayed at The W New York-Times Square SEVERAL times. I used to stay here every January to celebrate my birthday. Having said that, I have not stayed at the W for the past three years. My return to this hotel this May found me both saddened and supremely disappointed. The hotel just isn't what it used to be!! If ever offered to stay in room 5701...DON'T DO IT!!! (We payed extra money to have the corner room on the top floor and it was awful!!!). We needed to call the front desk to complain about the noise twice (sex the first night and an all out party the second night)!!! I have never paid so much money to not be able to sleep in my life!!! Additionally, I had called in advance to have a surprise birthday cake for my husband in our room upon our arrival. Unfortunately, when we got to our room, the cake was not there. When I called to inquire about the birthday cake, I was informed that the manager "just came on at 10:00 pm...that she just got to work and that I should give her a break because she didn't know where the cake was and/or where it was suppose to go...she needed a minute to figure it out." Needless to say, I was mortified. This is NOT The W I remember and it is certainly NOT a W I will ever visit again. This hotel gives The W brand a bad name!!! What the hell happened''
