"An ok second stay "
I stayed at the W for two weeks in October following a fantastic stay back in Feb. I was a little disappointed with the service this time around and it’s a shame it wasn’t as great as a few months ago. This may have been just bad luck as it was miscommunication issues with staff such as not booking the requested slot for the tennis courts and having to be kicked off mid game as they double booked! Also Mr Chow was a disaster this time around ( it was one of my fav restaurants) as we found a hair in the food which is unacceptable amongst a very rude manager! Overall though, the hotel is lovely, a great location and the outside pool and bar area is really amazing.

I have booked a treatment at the spa. On my way there was a huge accident and I called the hotel to let know that I am going to be about 10 minutes late. Even though online spa showed lots of spaces for appointments for later on the same day, I was told that the time I am late will be taken away from my treatment time. I have never came across this anywhere in the world. There is normally 10/15 minutes you can be late for. Very disappointing!
This review should not be seen as negative to Tripadvisor. We appreciate their work and rely on them for many of the trips and entertainment attractions we have visited. I'm glad we drove to Miami to stay at the W. If we had to fly in, I would have been even more upset. We purchased a reservation on line from a third party, through Roomer.com, and we were confirmed by the hotel. When we got to the desk they said that if we didn't have the credit card that was used to reserve the hotel, we couldn't check in. We showed them their confirmation and they said that they had our names, but we were "in addition" to the original guests. They would not budge. I have NEVER been treated this badly by a hotel. At least they revoked the $46 over night parking charge. This was all after we had to wait 30 minutes in line to "try" to check in. I wouldn't stay at this place if they gave me a free room. Of course, the parking is $46 a night, a$20 or $25 resort fee, beach chairs $10 and umbrellas $25. A part of me thinks they have a pay toilet in the rooms, and a coin slot on the TV. They only reason they got 1 star was they offered us water after we had been standing in line for 10 minutes.
Great pool. Drinks are ok. Hotel rooms were amazing. We would stay here again. We don't live to drink, but a good drink is important and most of the drinks here are sugar bombs. It would be amazing if they stepped up their cocktail game.

The hotel property was fantastic but the staff really makes this place the best. They are friendly, helpful and courteous. The beach staff made our visit fun as they made us feel like we were with friends. Great job to Maria, Ricardo and Gabe for making us feel right at home on the gorgeous beach!
