Hotel muy recomendable delante de la playa, a pocos pasos de Ocean Drive y Lincon.Comment of B. GUSTAVO , Spain the 2016-04-06
Excellent location and brilliant service BUT why do they have to charge for wifi in rooms in the 21st century when wifi should be free??Comment of B. Wahida , United Kingdom the 2014-05-22
"Good hotel but not up to the hype"
Arrived at the hotel to be told we'd been upgraded. Upgraded to what! A smaller room than I had expected with hardly any drawers. Complained & was moved to what we had expected. On first full day went to the beach for the day. $25 charge for umbrella but no charge by pool. Returned to room at 5 pm to find room not cleaned. Front desk said that was normal but would request early clean. Hector the pool manager was great & looked after us on our 9 day vacation brilliantly as did the concierge Guillermo. They were so helpful. I have to say that all the staff tried hard to meet our needs. However the front desk were not of the same quality. Negative & unableto deal with many questions when asked. Our vacation was ruined by the fact that what they call a hospitality suite for guests that are unable to have late checkout was an absolute disgrace. It is nothing but hotel bedroom that you share with other guests. My daughters & I had to wait while a couple showered & changed. When entering the bathroom it was disgusting. Full of dirty wet towels in the bath piled high. Sopping wet bath mats. I felt insulted that having paid top money for a great time we were treated like that as departing guests. It has definitely put me off going back to a W hotel if that is the norm. Initially the front desk informed I was lucky yo be offered any hospitality suite. I asked for the manager who apologised & offered a free lunch. So so disappointed.
"WARNING: Do Not Go Here"
We stayed in the mega suite 2 years ago and it was fantastic. We were celebrating a special occasion and had our reservation since January and requested the same exact room. We called multiple times prior and were verbally assured that we would receive the same room (guaranteed by phone- not in writing - the fatal flaw apparently). My assistant also requested a bottle of champagne for the celebration surprise. She was told essentially to buzz off by the manager and to do it online. Great... We arrived at midnight, and of course our room was wrong. We went down to the night manager JOSEPH who (no exaggeration) said to show him in writing where we were told we would receive the same room and told us that we were arguing for the sake of arguing. He basically said take the room or leave. He did not apologize for the errors of the hotel staff and showed an absolute lack of hospitality. We had to wonder around at 2AM looking for another hotel because we felt we were basically kicked out. You can get better service in a Motel 6. We are now at the Setai and much happier and were told the W has undergone new management since we were there last and gone downhill. All in all, beware of the staff at this hotel. I will be contacting the CEO of Starwood because I have never in my life been treated this way- especially when we were paying $1400 a night during the low season. Go somewhere else, and beware of Joseph. He needs to get a job that is not in hospitality.
"Beautiful hotel but pricey and a place to party"
Let's be clear, the physical property is beautiful. The rooms are amazing, the pool area top notch but crowded. The restaurant and bar wait staff provided excellent service. However friendly, the front desk team and the "whatever, wherever" phone concierge left us with a pretty disappointing experience. As an example we had a few things delivered to the hotel for a meeting and all but one little box was never found. I had the delivery receipt to show that it was in fact delivered. At 1:00 in the morning.. (in the morning!!!) the desk called to say the found my package and were bring it to the room. I asked them to leave it at the desk.. never to be seen again. This went on for two days. No concern, no follow up, no apologies. It wasn't of huge monetary value so no real loss but that isn't the point. We had a similar experience at checkout, having been granted a later checkout but then told it needed to be earlier but still later.. only to be locked out of my room. It then took me over 45 mins for me to get back into my room to gather my things.. again, no concern or apology. I travel almost weekly for business so I m is things happen. How one responds however goes a long way. In this case, no response means no return for me or my company.
"Buzzy hotel but pricy "
The W on South Beach offers great views and has a lively bar and pool scene. The rooms are nice and probably a tad overdesigned. Location of the hotel and views from the balcony were excellent! So if you don't find the price tag too high it's certainly a good place to spend a few enjoyable days.
"Pricey but nice."
The number at the bottom of the room folio at checkout will make your eyes water but the place delivers a luxury resort experience like few others. Everything about the place is top shelf and you'll feel like a celebrity the whole time you're there, and you'll be likely to run into a real celebrity or two during your stay.
