"Wonderful Experience "
Arrived at the hotel at 2:00, two hours before check in. There was no problem with checking in right away. Reggie, the young man checking me in, was very helpful and patient when there was a problem with my credit card. Travel tip - always let your bank know you'll be travelling even if they say you don't have to. So we got that cleared up and I went to my room. Yes, it was small. But it was fresh, clean and had everything I needed. Bed was very comfortable. Can't complain about the room size. It was perfectly adequate and I didn't plan on spending much time there anyway. There's too much to get out and see/do in Chicago. I've heard complaints about the elevators. Good news is that one of them has been fully upgraded. All I did was plan ahead and made allowances for a wait for an elevator. Definitely not a huge inconvenience for me. Let me make special mention of the breakfast buffet in their restaurant. It was reasonably priced and had everything and more that I would ever want for breakfast. At first I was disappointed that there was no toast. Then I realized I should ask for some. It was brought to my table freshly toasted which is a lot better than cold stale toast that has been sitting on the buffet. Raul was my waiter and he was friendly and attentive without being overbearing. A special shout out to Reggie and Raul. They represented their hotel and fellow staff with a very high standard of cordial service. It's gentlemen like this who make it certain that I'll stay at the Warwick Allerton again the next time I'm in Chicago.
"Warwick Allerton Hotel"
The location is perfect. You need a better system in the entrance lobby. It's chaos. Rearrange the furniture in room 2005 to allow easier access to the entire room. Current arrangement is not user friendly and may cause a risk of falling when trying to walk past the foot of the bed. Have housekeeping clean up the mold spots that are forming near the shower where the wall meets the ceiling. Clean the carpets.
"Expedia Booking Rip Off"
Booked the hotel 6 months ago with lowest rate and Expedia and Warwick gobbled up my nonrefundable, non cancel able $437.00. Night before departure-same room, same hotel for $71.00 less for the two days. Hotel staff was polite but hands tied, no refund, no credit, no breakfast coupon. Changed room from queen to king bed. Asked for breakfast-told no. Hotel has elevator construction, friendly staff and good location. Two lessons-never book through Expedia with their BS on rates and never stay at the Warwick Allerton.
"Great location, run by idiots"
First, the room and overall decor are nice and it's a GREAT location on the Mag Mile. Buuuuut .... they pulled a play right out of the "How to Ruin Your Guest's Hotel Experience" playbook. We checked in at about 3:00 PM on a beautiful June Saturday. Guess what, it was busy. Approaching the desk, we were probably the 9th or 10th party in line, AND they had ONE PERSON checking people in. Everyone in line we talked to was disgusted, of course. Checking out was no better. We had to call 3x, got hung up on once, and the time we got through it rang over 5 minutes. 55 million people visited Chicago last year. Ya know, it's busy in the summertime. Unless you want to ruin your guest's experience, staff up.
The petite rooms are small but comfortable. For one night stay was perfect. Especially for the price. Check your credit card statement for extra charges. We were charged for the complimentary breakfast.
