Simply, you will enjoy your stay at the Marriott Wardman Park; the location is incredible. The entrance to Metro is 150 feet or so from the hotel lobby and is without question the best method of transportation in the city (that is if you do not have an preference for Uber or taxi cabs). There are also an impressive diversity of restaurants on the block outside the hotel.Comment of H. Glen , United States the 2015-06-03
"Great experience for many years in the historic hotel"
Within walking distance to The National Cathedral and Embassy Row. Adams Morgan and the National Zoo are close by. Wonderful restaurants. Ask for a room with with a view and one on the concierge level if possible.
"Superb hotel with great customer service"
The Marriott at Wardman Park is hands down one of the nicest hotels I've ever stayed at. From the quality of the space to the front desk staff, the hotel is excellent. I had the pleasure of staying there for a recent conference hosted in the hotel's conference/meeting space and also staying inside the hotel for nearly a week. I arrived four hours before check-in and was resigned to leaving my bags there as I explored some of D.C. As it turns out, the front desk staffer graciously found me a room that was ready and allowed me to check in with no fee. But she went even farther to share with me sone great places to eat and hang out. She not only offered a local map, but told me of farther out places that were a quick ride-share trip or Metro ride away. I took her up on many suggestions, and wished I could've seen her before I left to thank her because the places I went to that she suggested were top notch! As for the rooms... yes, they're a little small but nothing that will set you back or cramp your stay. They're still bigger than most places I've stayed. I was a little concerned with how the light switches seemed very loose against the wall — as did the area near the desk with all of the tech plug-ins. But the room itself was clean and bright. The closet was awkward and the mirror was on the wrong side as it made it difficult to see without much light. The TV was massive and seemed relatively new. Also, you can use Netflix! Just make sure you sign out. I set a reminder in my phone to sign out on the last day. The basic internet connection in the room was amazing. They promote it as great for browsing email and basic web things. But I was able to watch videos, use Facebook and do all sorts of things without much of a slowdown. And I was on WiFi. The basic internet will set you back about $13 per day, though. (I'm unsure if there is free WiFi elsewhere like the lobby, etc). If I have to find something in the room to seek improvement on it's the shower. As a tall guy, the shower was very difficult to use. Not only was the water stream weak at best, but the shower head is too low!! Even playing it six inches higher still would accommodate shorter people while giving taller customers a chance to enjoy it. That had to be the most frustrating thing. Downstairs, there is a corner convenience store that offers a variety of things. The prices seem OK for drinks (Diet Pepsi bottle was $3 — high but I knew I was in a hotel). But a sandwich I got that was simply tomato and mozzarella seemed to be a bit pricier than it was worth. Great for when you can't escape the hotel, but there are many restaurants within a short walk that have decent prices and great food. Also, the hotel is a very short walk to the Metro's Red Line (zoo stop). So that was a huge plus! Very convenient from DCA to the hotel and anywhere, really. Several Uber/Lyft drivers seemed to always be nearby, too. Overnight parking at the hotel is $50 (!!!!), so if you don't need to drive there, don't. I would stay there again. The price of a room is a bit high, but you're so close to so much and the hotel offers quite a bit. So it all balances out. I walked into the Omni across the street and was less than impressed with it and the size of a friend's room there. It's always a great stay at a Marriott and the Marriott Wardman Park is no different!
"Solid hotel, mostly excellent service "
Was in DC for large meeting and this hotel was chosen as the host hotel. Great choice for DC. First it is easily accessible by public transportation (Red line). Second it can indeed accommodate a meeting with over 2000 attendees (they cannot all stay at hotel, which by the way is expensive for guests from underdeveloped countries). Room very comfortable, great pressure from shower (albeit the outlet is not high enough for people over 175 cm!). Overall very pleasant staff, helpful, great hosts. Despite relatively high cost (this is DC of course) would recommend hotel.
"Traditional DC Conference Hotel"
A quality hotel, albeit a little humungous (I felt I needed a car to get from the self parking to the hotel). Pleasant informal dinner in the bar (although the quesadillas - recommended - were the only item you wouldn't need two portions of). Everything you would expect but nothing to make it outstanding
We stayed here over Columbus Weekend for just 2 nights. We where visiting some of the area Universities. The Hotel is known as being a conference hotel...it is big. We stayed on the 8th floor. Their was a nice sitting area by the elevators. The hallways where clean and well maintained. Our room had a nice view. The room itself was otherwise average, clean, large TV, bathroom on the small side. The hotel shows some wear. However, the downstairs hotel bar is nice with loads of seating at the bar and small tables all around. The hotel has several onsite restaurants if you don't want to venture out. We however like to venture out so we ate in the small town just located down the driveway from the hotel. The best place by far is Lebanese Taverana..the food is fantastic. The hotel also has a very nice outdoor pool. The hotel is walking distance from the zoo and a short uber drive to The Mall. My only complaint was the outrageous parking fee at the hotel. We where charged $45/night...seems quite high and seems like a hotel of this size should be able to cut that in 1/2.
