I was really expecting to enjoy my stay at the Westin and had a good first night but noticed there was something on my bed cover the following day that had clearly been there before I arrived. Totally felt icky. I asked for the sheets to be changed the following day. I had two beds in my room so just went from one to the other. The room was made up but the bed cover had not been changed and no clean sheets when I had requested them. This put into question how clean the rest of the room actually was. Very disappointed. Wouldn’t recommend this hotel. This was a work trip so I was stuck and knew the hotel was probably full. Did not get an apology or any goodwill gesture for the fact that the bed cover had been unclean before I arrived. The lady who greeted me (Juliseta - I think) was lovely and made me feel very welcome but the lack of clean bed cover really affected my stay and made me uncomfortable.
"Exceptional service and incredible view"
No longer living in Seattle, I was happy to return for a quick business trip and my choice of the Westin was also a happy one. Particularly for the attentive pre-arrival communication with one of the guest service coordinators, I was able to both relax in the middle of a very busy downtown landscape, conduct a small business group meeting in my suite and enjoy incredible views of the skyline and Elliot Bay. There seems to be a bit of a hedge in the room service offering, playing it safe and not very inspiring, which is odd given what an incredible food city this is. It felt like the food team "gave up" a bit, figuring a guest would rather go out to a restaurant than order room service. I really like having good options in both staying in and going out, but this is the one area that I think some soul searching could occur. Be brave, Westin. Overall though, I was pleased with all other aspects of my stay, but one other recommendation: give the one lone front desk person at least one companion in the morning to handle a long line of check outs. She as very professional, but I don't know if I could work that shift and not have it affect how well I treated departing guests.
"Wet city but great hotel"
I was recently in Seattle for business for 2 nights. This was my first experience at the Seattle Westin, a though i have been to many other Westin properties. The staff are courteous and prompt, and very helpful. i asked for a king sized bed and they put me on the top floor, with a very generous room and a great view. I ate at the Relish cafe, the breakfast buffet was among the best i ever had and the waiter was super friendly and responsive. I used the workout room. Although it looks large, there is very limited space if you are not lifting weights or using a tread mill. It rained in Seattle the entire time i was there. I have been to Seattle before (in the Spring) and the weather was much nicer. On my last trip i had lunch in the Space Needle, if you have never done this you have to go! Overall, great experience, i would definitely go back. Enjoy some Washington wine while you are there!
"Better to ask forgiveness than permission"
I hadn't stayed in this hotel since I was a kid and was very excited to return. I had fond memories of the pool and the central downtown location. We drove down and needed to use self-park. My GPS led me to the wrong entrance so my wife went inside to get directions. She came out with a nicely printed map directing you to the main entrance. Unfortunately, some of the lefts and rights were wrong. The main entrance to the self-park was also closed (at 3:30pm) and the temporary entrance (which was also the exit, one lane) was not clearly indicated. Despite driving through the valet area a couple times no one even lifted a finger to help until I started pushing buttons at the self-park 'entrance'. Front desk was aware of the poor map directions and said that new ones were in the works. Really' You know they are bad but give them out anyways' OK Westin. Room was clean with a nice view. There was a letter on the desk informing that the pool and fitness center were closed for improvements. A temporary 'gym' was thrown together in the lobby and the front desk would tell where other pools were. Great. On our 3rd night we were awoken at 1:20am by terrible creaking/twisting sounds. It was windy outside and these sounds continued straight through until the morning. We barely slept at all. When I asked the front desk if they would be surprised to know about these noises, they said were well aware of them and confirmed my suspicions that it was a structural thing. They just don't tell you anything about it because they can't predict the wind speed or direction. Knowing in advance that there is a chance you might not sleep at all is probably bad for business. I suppose the policy for this hotel could be "better to ask for forgiveness than permission". Seattle itself did not disappoint, the Westin however, did.
"Great Customer Service"
The personnel at this property were excellent! They helped with dinner suggestions and gave coupons for complimentary items at the establishments. While my room was not equipped with a microwave or refrigerator they were available upon request. I loved the option to forego housekeeping and receive points! The concierge was top notch! The room itself was average for my taste, but very clean. As a member of SPG I was given access to free wifi during my stay but I had to complain to the manager before that was granted. Overall I would probably stay here again for business.
